IPad 3 always 'Searching' for carrier and randomly restarting itself

About a week ago I started having problems accessing the Optus network while mobile. The Wi-Fi at home works fine. I had not changed any carrier or related settings it just started happening 'out of the blue'. I realise this may be an Optus issue but I'm adding it here anyway in case it's an iPad 3 issue or there's an iPad solution.
I decided two days ago I should probably get around to updating to iOS 7 so I did that, thinking that might help?
Since the update my iPad is now also randomly restarting itself. At first only once or twice a day but today, every few minutes!
It's an iPad 3, prepaid sim with credit on it.
Thanks,
Leeny

Same problem here. A temporary solution is restoring the device on iTunes using the latest iOS firmware + shift/option and selecting the downloaded firmware (you can find it easily on the web).
But after 1-2 weeks, the problem seems to come up after the carrier status is stuck on "searching". If you restart the device, then you put the device in the restarting-loop.
I can't find a permanent solution.
Any help?

  • HT4061 Phone is fully charged, switched itself off and only turns back on when plugged in, when restarts always "searching" for service and no option to turn wifi on

Have tried to restore but just crashes when trying to verify restore to apple and stops. Please help

IT sounds like it failed. Big time.
Try a restore, but I have a feeling this is going to warrant a trip to the genius bar.

  • Keep searching for Carrier

I bought my iphone-3g in new zealand and brough it back to Hong Kong. It's working fine until yesterday - the "connect to iTunes" screen appears. I did that and restored it, then "waiting for activation" message pop out. It keep searching for the carrier and keep restarting itself while connected to iTunes. What happens?!

    Hey CaiYC,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are having issues with your iPhone relating to cellular service. The following resource outlines troubleshooting steps for this issue. If you are unable to loacate the carrier settings, or your issue persists, please contact your carrier as recommended towards the end of the article.
    iPhone: Troubleshooting No Service
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4429
If you're outside the United States, please also follow these steps:
    1. Go to Settings > Carrier > Automatic.
If the phone registers any carrier network, Settings > Carrier will be present.
    2. If the Carrier option is missing in Settings and you're outside of the Unites States, please contact Apple for support and service options.
Set the option for Automatic to off.
    3. A list of potentially available carriers appears after about two minutes. If the device is locked to a carrier, it may connect only to the carrier network to which it is locked. If the device displays carrier networks, then the device is working as expected.
    4. Set Settings > Carrier > Automatic back to on.
If you're still experiencing No Service issues, contact your carrier to check for any network or account issues that could cause these symptoms.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Bought 4th Gen 3TB TC - streaming TV over the internet is now so slow and now is constantly buffering.  It seems the Airport Utility is always 'searching for new networks' - don't know if this is the problem.  It's not the internet speed as checked that.

Bought 4th Gen 3TB TC - streaming TV over the internet is now so slow and now is constantly buffering.  It seems the Airport Utility is always 'searching for new networks' - don't know if this is the problem.  It's not the internet speed as checked that.  I took my old router upstairs and was streaming TV via my ipad seamlessly - the same program via the TC was constantly buffering.
I just expected to be able to plug in the TC, so a simple set-up and experience wireless both upstairs and downstairs in my house.  For some reason the range is low and speed veru disappointing.
I am far from being an IT expert but I would welcome advice about setting up this TC so we can enjoy the product as it was designed.  Please HELP!

No silver bullet........but my suggestions may drive you in the right direction.
    1.  Unplug the power cable from the TC and wait 10-15 minutes before powering back up.   Seriously wait!
Proceed to #2 if this dosen't help.
    2.  Unplug the power cable from the TC, ubplug the power cable from your Broadband Modem (assuming it's a cable modem), disconnect ethernet, and cable from modem.
2a.  Wait 10-15 minutes then re-connect cable, ethernet, and power back to modem (your modem should power up unless you have a power switch)  wait for all the modem lights to come on EXCEPT activity.
2b.  Connect ethernet from modem to TC, and plug in the power cable to TC.
Proceed to #3 if this dosen't help.
    3.  Reconfigure the TC.........Read here........http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3728
All really simple to do....if you need additional help let me (us) know.

My iphone 3g is keep searching for network, and the carrier unable to load network list , wat shall i do?

Yes, that kind of tallies with my experience ... after 3 days of useless iPhone 3G (BTW, killing 3G on the phone and relying on acquiring AT&T 2G didn't help, it still locked onto T-Mobile with the result that it was draining battery and rebooting frequently!), I ended up visiting the local Apple Store.
Although the visit was not to resolve the iPhone problem, whilst there I happened to cycle the phone and due to the store having a local AT&T cell, the strength of the local signal meant that I finally re-acquired a AT&T 3G signal ... once locked on again the phone was fine for the next day.
Nett outcome of this is that I would prefer to lay most of the blame for this debacle on the poor state of 3G support both by AT&T (and US carriers in general), maybe exacerbated in my case by two related events (the local DNC in Denver, which saturated local AT&T cells including 3G and a proliferation of v2.0.0 and v2.0.1 firmwares on iPhones in town, which dragged cell coverage into the weeds).
It would be nice for future sanity if AT&T and T-Mobile could at least resolve the ability to acquire/release the iPhone gracefully, otherwise I'll be very sceptical of travelling back to the US with only my iPhone, as a self-employeed consultant I can't afford to be out of touch for three days again!

  • Iphone 4s always searching for network

    Hi All,
I already tried the article that have suggested about
    iPhone: Troubleshooting No Service
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4429
but it doesn't solve the problem. I even tried to restore to factory setting and replacing the antenna but still the same problem " always searching for network". I referred this problem on 2 repair shop but they said it related to motherboard. Is there service center for apple in Singapore or Philippines? What would be best thing to do for my current iphone?

You'll have to contact your carrier to get it serviced, copied from the iPhone service center for Singapore:
    Out-of-Warranty Service
Please contact your carrier or an iPhone Authorised Service Provider for Out-of-Warranty Service Options

Compare the roaming charges from the German carrier with services like those:
    http://www.abroadband.com

Otherwise buy a pre-paid micro-SIM card for the iPad in each country you visit.

  • Music Player continuously searching for songs and ...

I have a N97 running firmware v.21.0.045 and about a week or so ago I was forced to do the hard reset because the phone became so unstable. I left my E: drive (the mass storage) intact including all of my songs, videos and pictures I had stored.
Everything seems to be okay apart from the Music Player which everytime I use it it starts to search for songs and podcasts continuously. I can stop that and it lists all of my music and can play them but the volume control does not work, either from the telephone or the earpiece supplied.
I have tried leaving it searching for hours but nothing changes - it just keeps on searching. Any suggestions as to how I can fix this please or does it mean I have to do another reset of the telephone? It all worked before.
I have tried taking the battery out but this makes no difference.

    This is the solution
ok i found the solution here by deleting the corrupted library
    http://portablevideo.blogspot.com/2008/12/music-player-database-problems.html
now one of these below is for the music and one for the photos and i didnt have a problem with the photos but did it anyways and now the player can see my music:
these are the files that need deleting in order to get rid of the corrupted library.
Storage Drives: (Mass storage E, Memory Card F)
    \private\101ffca9\harvesterdbvx_x.dat
    \private\10281e17\[string]mpxvx_x.db
    \private\10281e17\[string]pcvx_x.db
TIP: Connect the device in USB mass storage mode (File Transfer), to locate the private folder from the PC.
TIP: STRING and x_x will change depending on your phone. (my files had slightly different names than above on the n97

  • IPhone 5 keeps searching for carrier.

I have an unlocked iPhone 5. I recently updated my iPhone to iOS 7 and now it keeps searching for carrier. What should I do?

Well, it seems the phone is working again now. I've tried to restore it several times (which didn't work) but after restoring it from backup (iCloud) the phone seems to work again.
It's not a real solution becouse I've tried to restore it several times without result. Very very very strange problem...

  • Quicktime searches for cd and dvd players

    Hi,
I'm new in this forum. forgive me if I'm making some mistake.
I've got a problem with the starting of Quicktime player for windows. When I first start Quicktime after the launch of windows it always searches for some file in the cd rome and dvd players. Only when I put a cd and a dvd into the players it allows me to open the regular movies. How can I get rid of this problem that bothers me a lot?
    Thanks for help
      Windows XP

I really believe the best way is to save the project as a disk image and burn that as slowly as possible using either the disk utility or Toast™.
Also, (very important) I'd use Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R 4X.

  • I have TC 2TB right next to my Mac, but it is always searching for networks...Why?

I have TC 2TB right next to my Mac, but it is always searching for networks...Why?

I am taking it you mean
    modem--Mac--TC
Then no the TC will not act as router.
    It should be
    Modem--TC--Mac
But instead of using wireless, use ethernet.. or at least try it and tell us if it works.
Assuming you are using wireless now.

  • My ipad is constantly searching for network.

My iPad is constantly searching for network. I am on EE and it will not connect. I've took the sim out and still no joy!

The sim card is for 3/4G, not wifi.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • LOV - Require User to always Search for Values option

    Hi All,
I have build a Supervisor LOV,But when I click the LOV(Flash light Icon), the new LOV window opens and it fetches the entire list of Supervisors which takes lots of time and LOV times out in many of the cases.
I want the LOV window should open without bringing the entire list of suprevisor and let User enter some Name to be searched.
To achieve the same,I enabled the option
Require User to always Search for Values option
(Immediately Displays the Search Dialogue when LOV is exapnded)
    But it is not working.
Is there a way to do it ??
    Regards
    Jujaar

    Hi Tamir,
    Thanks for you updates.
I dont think so,that I need to create a table or Materialised view.Cause I am taking the data from per_all_people_f directly. All the employees who are managers.
But I want that when users clicks on the LOV ,it should open and should force user to search for some employee .
As of now it fetches the entire list while opening up,when the user clicks on LOV button.
    Thanks and Regards
