Ipad 3 drops 4g conection

ipad 3 drops 4g conection and will not  reconect without resetting unit. How do I fix this?

Sorry all, but in most cases this IS a carrier problem.
For all the 4G advertising hoopla, the coverage/bandwidth is just not up to level that 3G EVENTUALLY achieved. And I suspect like most things that go bump in the night: the faster the speed, the better the connection needs to be...
Almost surely this will improve in time - likely exponentially (at least if the providers would spend less $$ on advertising and more on improving their networks).
I've been pretty lucky thus far: I've tested in several areas around me, and normally have no problem. But did get knocked off on 2 occasions since June (when I bought the iPad). One was near a traffic light, the other in Car dealers showroom.
myagent:... That's NOT the same problem. the original poster is losing their 4G (cellular) connection NOT wi-fi.

THANKS for your prompt reply  Bluetooth is off in my laptop and IPhone.. and in fact the reset is the only thing that can make it back to normal. But for a lil while. I wonder if it is the touch, or the home botton... both things are very expensive to replace, so I wouldn't like to spend $$ and continue having the prob.....

  • IPad capacity drop from iOS 7 to iOS 8

    Hi,
I updated from iOS 7.1.2 to iOS 8 this evening on my wi-fi only 16GB iPad mini w/ retina display (model ME279LL/A). I noticed after the update that the available space on my iPad had dropped about 600MB. After connecting to iTunes further noticed that the capacity of my iPad dropped from 12.80GB to 11.74GB. What happened that I lost over 1GB of capacity?
I restored the iPad and recovered from my backup. Not sure what else could be causing this issue. 4.26GB seems like a lot of space to lose to formatting and whatnot.
    Thanks!

From what I've been hearing, iOS 8 itself takes up about 4.5 GB of space. Apple of course figures you won't need space anymore since you'll just store everything in the cloud now... lol.

  • The (big) list of iPad WiFi Dropping Solutions

Here's a list I've compiled of multiple solutions on how to fix the iPad's dropping WiFi. If your iPad can't access the internet at all then this is not the list for you. If your iPad shows incorrect password when it is in fact the right password then some solutions here may work for you.
    1. Move closer to your router
    2. Turn WiFi off then on again.
    3. Restart you router.
    4. Update your router
    5. Update your iPad.
    6. Renew your lease by tapping Settings > WiFi, pressing the arrow next to your network name (SSID) and clicking Renew Lease.
    7. Reset your Network Settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Setting. You will need to rejoin to your network once completed.
    8. If you know your IP addresses, DNS address, Router address and Subnet mask then go to Settings > WiFi then click the arrow on your network, click 'Static' and manually enter your addresses. Do not worry about the Search Domains.
    9. If no. 6 does not work then try changing the DNS address to an OpenDNS address (208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222)
    10. Oddly, lowering your brightness setting may work (making it higher may also work). Also turning off auto-brightness may work.
    11. Set your channel (on your router) to 11. It this does not work then try Auto.
    12. Set the HTTP Proxy to 'Auto' (Settings > WiFi > (select your name) > Select Auto). If this solution does not work then set it back to Off.
    13. Switch your Security setting (on your router) to WPA2 or Mixed WPA & WPA2. (This solution worked for me!)
    14. If you see something like a "Key Timer", "Group Key Timer", "Group Update Time Value" or "Group Key Update Timer" in your router security settings then set it to 0. If you see something like "ARP" then set that to 0.
    15. Try everything at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
    16. Try resetting your router (WARNING: You will have to reconfigure your router afterwards as it'll lose all its settings).
    17. If all else fails, buy a new router (try an Apple AirPort Extreme/Express).
Another thing you could try is putting your iPad into a DMZ but I think that is not required.
This list will grow from time to time. If I've missed anything then please give me a heads up!

Buying a new router (item 17) worked for me. I finally bit the bullet and got me a half decent router I could afford. Netgear WNR3500 (?) ... I have set it to WPA2-PSK[AES] and everything else as default and my iPad seems to be happy with it.
I wouldn't recommend getting an airport extreme. apparently there is no web interface. Maybe you can control it and configure it through iTunes. Or maybe you just have to live with the ultimate wisdom of some code jockey at apple. Who knows.
I wasn't willing to take that chance after the infuriating experience with iPad.
For now, my iPad seems to like the new router (an un-expected purchase that I was forced to make). Will report back if there are problems with it.

  • Ipad 3 drops wifi, iphone 4s next bto ipad with no problems, any ideas?

ipad 3 drops wifi and goes to lte, iphone has good signal, any ideas?

Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Networks
Then tap the Home button to close the Settings app. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • How do I keep my Ipad from dropping its wireless connection?

How do I keep my Ipad from dropping its wireless connection?
Most of the time, my iPad does not maintain a connection to the interenet via my wifi router. My PC laptop has continuous connection, so I know it is not the internet connection.
Is there a way to trouble shoot this? Can I purchase a dedicated IP Address for my Ipad? This is beyond aggrevating since internet activity is the main reason I purchased the pad.
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

I would suggest that you give Apple Tech Support a call and go over your settings under WI-FI and General Settings as well as your router settings etc.. There are all sorts of things I could tell you to try but this forum is not the best place to go over all the numerous settings that could be the issue. Just call them and they will walk you through the proper trouble shooting steps.

  • My 2 gen iPad keeps dropping my AirPlay connection with my 2 gen Apple TV. I just updated to iOS 8.1. Before the worked flawlessly. I love AirPlay. Also my iPhone 5s has the exact same issues with 8.1.

My 02 gen iPad keeps dropping the AirPlay connection after several minutes of play. This happened after updating to iOS 8.1. This worked perfectly on my 2 gen Apple TV before the update. It is also doing the same thing on my iPhone 5s. I use AirPlay all the time. Please help.

    Greetings rdobbins01,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that AirPlay is not working as you would expect on either your iPhone or iPad. In this situation, I would suggest reading over and working through the information located in the attached article to help resolve this issue.

  • Why does my generation 1 ipad keep dropping off

Why does my ipad keep dropping off. It is generation 1.

Dropping of of what - wifi? When you ask a question you need to provide enough info to get an answer.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Try to redownload the app and/or reset all settings on your iPad (won't erase everything)
    Settings>>General>>Reset>>Reset All Settings
and yes rejoin any wi-fi networks you are connected to.

  • TS3274 iPad was dropped and now everything is fuzzy and green

IPad was dropped. Now everything is green and fuzzy. Any idea what is wrong?

If you bought Apple Care + with your iPad take the iPad to an Apple Sptre, pay the minimum charge and get a replacement. If you didn't buy Apple Care + then you'll have to payc a higher fee for a replacement.
But your pad is indeed broken. It doesn't handle being dropped very well.
You might try giving the iPad a good hard slap on the back with your hand to see it the problem can be corrected. Yes, I'm serious.

Rtbeal, I would recommend that you contact AppleCare so they can run further tests and diagnostics to help you solve your solution better.
If you can also access an Apple Store Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Center, that would be much better.
Go to https://locate.apple.com/country for further support with your device!
