IPad 3, IOS 6 and iTunes version
I know that there have been numerous threads about this but perhaps a summary up to now is a good idea.
I have the iPad 3.
I have updated to IOS6
I have no problems at all.
I run Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
I currently use iTunes v. 10.6.3.25.
To date, I have been declining the requests to update itunes.
Should I stay with that version of iTunes / update / wait for a fix or patch?
If I update, are there work-arounds to the issues?
Thank you for any and all advice.
There are a couple of issues that I myself found out about when I upgraded! The main one being sharing between iTunes and ios devices and Apple TV. An issue I never had before I upgraded to iTunes 10.7. I believe it pertains mostly to people who are running iTunes on a windows computer. Resolved all my problems by uninstalling 10.7 and reinstalling 10.6! Wait for a fix and save urself the headache!

I am continually getting error -69 when syncing iPad Air with latest iOS and iTunes versions. Any suggestions?
Try Googling "sync without iTunes".
There are free alternatives and there are not so free alternatives.
Btw, to check if AVG is causing the problem, you should uninstall AVG and not just "turn it off".
Also, can you describe how you go about uninstalling a program? For example, how did you "delete" iTunes? -

help me. My Itunes don't have the upgrade and restore button when I connect my Ipad??? My Itunes version: 11.2.2
If you're using a USB hub take it out of the loop. Plug directly in to a USB port on the system. If you are using a front mounted USB port, try one on the back instead. If this doesn't correct it, try shutting off any firewall and antivirus software and turn off User Access Control.

I upgraded my ipad to ios 7 and now it's asking for a passcode. Have no idea what to enter because I never needed a passcode. Connected it to iTunes on my mac but still doesn't work
Hi Lmprettyman,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This article has more information on passcode lock and how to return your iPod to working order:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
All the best,

I recently upgraded my three year old ipad to IOS 8 and it's working very slow and sometimes freezes. Can I go back to the old system?
No, downgrading the iOS version is not supported by Apple.
You could see if any of the following improve things :
- closing apps via the iPad's taskbar : iOS: Force an app to close.
- if having problems with Safari, clearing its history and data : Settings > Safari
- soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
- backing up (and copying any purchases over to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases) and restoring
- adjusting settings e.g. turning 'reduce motion' on (Settings > General > Accessibility), turning off 'background app refresh (Settings > General), turn off multitasking gestures (Settings > General)
- resetting back to factory defaults (after copying off purchases and any documents, photos etc that you want to keep) and then resyncing it back -
so now i might ned u all help, currently im using ipad and i get some news abt ios 6.1 and im interested abt it so i updated wif my Ipad (ver. ios 5) and i checked some web said ipad1 cnt update to ios6 so i might ned help how to restore bck to ios5 as normal be4
If it's showing the connect to iTunes screen then you will need to do that.
But Apple don't provide any method to update the first gen iPad to iOS 5 (nor do they support downgrading the iOS version). -
I just updated my iPad to iOS 5 and now can't send email- I have tried the obvious but no luck. Any suggestions?
Usually 'authentication required' means that you need to submit a username (or e-mail address) and password to the e-mail server, when sending a message. This logic is not different between Outlook and Thunderbird, and even with the latest and previous version of Thunderbird.
Of course you can try the previous version again to see if it solves the problem, although you'll be less secure because you would be missing the latest fixes.
If you'd be willing to get back to Thunderbird, say if your frustration level with your new app would increase too much, please see our article [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages cannot send messages] for further help.
In all other cases I'd appreciate it if you could mark this as answer so we know you don't need further help. -
I backed up my ipad to the cloud as it had a broken screen so I swaped it out for a new one and now I cant restore because the new Ipad has IOS 6 and my back up is 6.1! This is what I get for buying an Ipad twice in a week because of a broken screen? $500 the first buy and then another $299 plus tax for the swaped out one that I can't restore with my backup data.
I assume that you will have to set up as new since it will not let you restore from the backup. Then after you set it up, you can restore from the iCloud backup. The backup should not disappear be use you are setting this device up as new. Your backup should still be in iCloud.
However, after you activate the iPd and update the software, you will have to erase the device in order to restore from the Cloud backup, that is the only way to get to the iCloud backup.

Resolution
Update your device to the latest version of iOS to be able to restore the backup. -

I recently updated my iPad to iOS 8 and still checking on the settings. When I happened to swipe on my screen for too long, it zoomed and I can no longer see what's on it. I can not even unlock it. I can not use my iPad anymore. What shall I do?
Try double tapping with three fingers and see if that reduces the screen image. If it does, unlock the iPad and go to Settings>General>Accessibility>zoom>Off. If double tapping with three fingers doesn't work, try triple tapping the home button instead.
