IPad 3 is unreliable at connecting to wifi

My iPad 3 shows full signal but fails to download web pages etc. it connects for a short time and then drops out. Any advice would be welcome.

- Reset the iPad. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPad: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router.
- Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

  • HT1766 How do I listen to my music on my iPad when I am not connected to wifi?

How do I listen to my music on my iPad when I am not connected to wifi?

Describe more in detail what you mean.
Does the player start, look like the music is playing, but your hear nothing?
Does the player say it can't find any music?
Are you trying to use ear buds or the built-in speakers?
The fact that you say you can't play music when not connected to WiFi leads me to believe you have not really synced your iTunes library to your iPad but instead are playing your music from iCloud or from Home Sharing.

  • TS1398 Updated to ios6 now lost all wifi connection both iPad and iPhone no longer connects to wifi

Updated to ios6 now lost all wifi connection both iPad and iPhone no longer connects to wifi

not much response in here which surprises me...
Anyway... AS I am still looking for answers, I will share a couple of points that I realised...
in Airport Utility, I noticed that my iphone MAC address was actually showing as client connected, despite my phone network showing the spinning wheel next to the network name for ever and never actually connecting.
I am currently testing the router mode in Network to be on DHCP and NAT mode with a range from .2 to .200
    My phone is now connected....
Everything seems to be ok and happy so far...
strange that this router and phone have worked together for at least a couple of years, the phone works everywhere else, and all other toys connect to my WIFI just fine. the list is as follow:
    airport extreme
    Zeppelin air
    2x apple tv
    2 ipads
    iphone 4s
    2 mac
    1 pc
I have litterally just hard reset the router with a pin just now as a last resort... same...
I will leave the router as DHCP & NAT until a potential firmware or OS update...

  • IPad shows it it is connected to WiFi but it isn't (nothing will load)

Just accidentally updated my iPad to iOS 7.1.1. Started it up and tried to connect to WiFi. Correct password and the WiFi is working for all different devices, and the iPad appears to connect to it successfully. The icon is there and everything. It's found the IP Address, Router, etc. etc.
However, absolutely nothing will load (not Safari, App Store, anything). It's not a problem with WiFi - all three of my computers and my phone can connect to this WiFi, it's just my newly updated iPad.
There are no addons and no this and that. I restored factory settings. No backups or anything.
    I have:
    1) Restarted my router,
    2) Restarted my iPad,
    3) Dropped my iPad into Recovery Mode and restored it to factory settings and tried again,
    4) Dropped my iPad into DFU Mode and restored it to factory settings and tried again,
    5) Turned off my iPad and tried again,
    6) Turned off my WiFi and tried again,
    7) Reset Network Settings and tried again,
    8) Turned off HTTP Proxy and tried again,
    9) Forgotten the Network and tried again.
So if one of your solutions is one of the nine above, please don't bother answering me.
    Thank you,
    XymphosCraK

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Can't get my iPhone (iPad or iPod touch) to connect to wifi

I cannot get my iPhone 4s to connect to wifi in my home since the last two updates. It sees my network but says unable to connect. This not only happens to my iPhone 4s but to my iPad 2 and my iPod touch. Idk what else to do to get it to connect. My other non apple products work just fine on my wifi but my apple products wont. Please help me I am about to go crazy.

Do they connect to any Wi-Fi network?
If they connect to others, it's an issue with your router most likely.  Start by power cycling the router.
If they do not connect to any Wi-Fi network, then it's likely a hardware issue.  Although it is highly unlikely that 3 devices would have the same hardware failure.

  • After updating to OSX 10.9.4, WiFi connection keeps getting dropped. This happened on 3 Macs, but my iPhone, iPad, and Windows computer all connect to WiFi just fine.

I recently updated three Macs to Mavericks OS 10.9.4. All three Macs now cannot stay connected to WiFi.
Other devices (iOS and Windows) have no such problem, so it isn't the WiFi itself.
It seems to be OS X 10.9.4 which is the problem.
10.9.3 did not have this problem either.

  • My ipad mini suddenly won't connect to wifi

My iPad mini is 2 years old.  Today it won't connect to the wifi at all.  I've tried shutting it off and turning it back on.  Then I go to wifi settings, and it shows my network and asks for password.  I know I'm entering the password correctly, but it says *incorrect password*.  I've tried resetting the ipad, I've tried resetting the network, I've tried closing out all apps, turning the ipad off and on, etc.  My laptop is connected and my smart phone is connected, so that's not the issue.  I don't know why the ipad is telling me the password is incorrect!  What can I do?  Any help would be appreciated!
PS - I have a brand new iPad mini here for my son for Christmas.  I'd rather not have to give it to him today but I'm about ready to!

As of yesterday I have the same issue with an iPad Mini bought in November 2012. I have tried resetting the network settings - no good. I have done an entire factory reset - no good. I have restored from previous backups - no good. I have reset to factory and set up as a new iPad - temporarily OK, then added some apps back - no wifi again.
Today I have been to an Apple Store who could connect the iPad to their wifi OK, came home, connected OK for a few minutes and then back to no wifi again.
It is not the router that is the problem, in the house are iPhone 6 plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5S, iPad Air, Macbook Air, Apple TVs, and other bits of kit that are all successfully connecting. All iOS devices are on 8.1.2.
This problem has effectively bricked my iPad mini... very not happy!!!

  • When i try to connect my iPhone 4S into iTunes through wifi or USB it will not connect the other thing  is when i hook up my iPad into iTunes it will connect through wifi but not USB? Now is this a issue with my iPad and iPhone or is this iTunes?

When i bought my iPhone and my iPad they both were on iOS 7.0.2 i updated them shortly after thinking the new iOS 7.0.4 was better. i see its not but they both worked great with iTunes before and after the update. My question is why is my iPhone not connecting to iTunes? it will not connect through USB or wifi and i know that the setting to do that is turned on. my iPad connects through iTunes through wifi but not USB. This isnt making any sense but i wanna know is this a iTunes issue? or is it my phone and iPad??

This can sometimes be the result of a faulty/damaaged USB sync cable.  Do you have another cable you could test it out with?
