IPad 3 keeps syncing music!

On the summary page....I have the iPad set to manually manage music & the "sync only checked songs" is greyed out.  On the music tab... "sync music" is also unchecked.  However, after I sync apps, books, etc, the music begins to automatically sync to the iPad. How do I stop this?  It is maddening to me.  I have a large volume of songs in my itunes, but do not want them on my ipad. Any help is greatly appreciated

HI. I have a similar problem. I only want to download music videos so have selected include music videos and also in playlists. Nothing else.

do you use the same Apple ID on your iMac, your iPhone and iPad? This is a requirement.

  • Ipad cannot sync music from itunes

My Ipad 3rd generation can't sync music from itunes after i downloaded IOS 7. Can anyone tell me why?

With your iPad connected to your computer, select the music tab.  Is "Sync Music" checked?  If not, select the box, then choose either all content, or selected etc..  Keep in mind that you can only sync your iPad with one iTunes library at a time.  Trying it from multiple notebooks lead me to assume that you don't have the Sync music option checked.
    hope this helps.

  • Can i use my 1st Generation Ipad to sync music to and update my Iphone 5, even though the Ios is different?

Im looking to get rid of my Dell laptop as all i use it for is updating my Ios and syncing music, pictures and such to to Iphone 5, rather than buying a newer laptop i was wondering if its possible to use my old 1st gen Ipad to sync these things to and from my phone? or will the fact that the Ios on my phone is much newer be an issue?
    Thanks

Not really. For some apps, it only works on iPad and can't be used on iPhone. However, for music, contacts, photos etc.. should be fine with iPad.

Can I sync music from my iPad to my iPod?

If you have an Apple Store, near you, make an appointment to take it to them. If it's not a hardware failure, they may be able to help.

  • Why does photos app in ipad keep syncing for pictures?

I was syncing some photos and decided to stop because it was taking too long and now it keeps on trying to sync the remaining 900+ pictures all the time.  Can I shut it off?  I think this is draining my batteries.  I have tried turning off photo sharing and because I thought maybe it's trying to sync from my other ipad but that didn't work.  Anyone with the same problem that has found a solution?  I will continue to look for a solution.

Ok fair enough. So it's changed from when it was in Beta in Lion then?
I just did a test and it didn't kick in. A notification came up, which I clicked and that launched Messages, which is fine. But if you ignore the notification, it just remains in the notification centre to the right. Which obviously if I click on it launches so thats fine as well. But the app itself doesnt launch when I get an iMessage sent to me.
    Cheers for replying though.

  • I have an Ipad 2 and an Iphone 4s. I can sync musics to the iPad, but not to the iPhone. Am I doing something wrong?

    Here's the thing:
I first bought an iPad 2, it works fine with the iTunes. But since i bough my iPhone 4s, i've been able to sync, books, documents and even the apps, but not the musics. It's strange because with the iPad i sync musics all the time, but for some reason my iPhone doesn't sync musics.
Does anyone knows what to do?
    Thanks!

You repeated your statement in the description area which should be used to provide additional information about your problem. That's really not that helpful for us who are trying to help you.
When you are directed back to the setup screen, are you able to enter any information at all? If you can, does it let you move on to the next screen? Can you do anything at all? Details, please.

  • IPad playlist sync

    Hi guys
I love the fact that you can create you own ipod playlists on the iPad but my problem is after spending so much time creating my playlist then if I need to sync with iTunes my playlist will be deleted after I sync. I have iTunes set for to manually sync and this happens every time. Is there a setting I dont know about or is this something I have to deal with?
    Thanks,
    Mario

Okay so I just spent about half an hour on the phone with an expert (thanks for the contact suggestions) and we developed a workaround that will not only stop the problem, but will make your old playlists that ate themselves magically reappear! Weird, right? He thought so too, so he had me try a bunch of stuff and he's sending a report to the engineers so they can figure out why it was happening in the first place. But for now here's what you do:
Connect your iPad to your computer.
Set iPad to "Sync music" (instead of manually managing).
Select just a few artists to have sync so that it doesn't take a lot of time, because you'll be putting it back on manually manage shortly, so it doesn't matter what music you choose.
    Click "Apply."
All the playlists that we thought were forever gone will both show up on the iPad and sync back to your computer.
Now you can choose "manually manage" again and the problem should be solved - sort of. When you create a playlist on your iPad now under manually manage, the playlist won't eat itself like it used to, but it won't sync back to the computer either. He told me that that part of it sort of makes sense because nothing syncs under manually manage, but the deleting itself thing definitely didn't, and neither did the way the deleted ones reappeared again. So he's sending the report to the engineers and will let me know back soon.

  • Can I access my husband's iTunes acct. from my iPad?  I have his permission & pass code.  We want to keep all music in one place & family accessible.

Can I access my husband's iTunes acct. from my iPad?  i have his permission & pass code.  We want to keep all music in one place & family accessible.

If you log into his account and download some of his past purchases on your iPad then you risk tying your iPad to his account for 90 days : iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID
But it looks like that might change when iOS 8 is released in the Autumn (no date has been announced yet) : http://www.apple.com/ios/ios8/family-sharing/
If you have his content in your computer's iTunes library then you could sync it from there instead of risking the 90 days association on your iPad. If you don't then you could copy it from his computer and then sync it to your iPad e.g. copy his music to a flash drive and then add it to your library via File > Add To Library

  • IPad 3 not syncing music or videos from iTunes.  Can any one help?

Hi everyone!  First time in submitting a question for me.  Driven to doing it by my iPad 3 not syncing music with iTunes.  In fact it almost seems to be automatically deleting music from my iPad for some reason.  Had a look down similar questions and issues but not real solutions appear to be coming up.  Was working fine about 3 or so weeks ago then simply started developing this issue.  Backs up ok but then says it is waiting for the changes to be applied then a few seconds or so later it says it is complete when it isn't.
Hope Apple are looking into rectifying this?
All help gratefully received, thank you!!

Hi Graham2307 and everyone else.  I too have a similar problem, and similarly this is my first post also.  Apart from your question I found I couldn't find any similar questions or solutions.
I have quite a few different Apple products all of which have no problem with syncing, backing up and transfering purchases when I connect to itunes on my computer...... apart from my iPad 2 (iOS 7.0.4).  Apart from tonight the last time I connected my iPad 2 to my computer, about 3 weeks ago, there was no problem syncing.
Then when I have tried tonight to do the same the iPad backs up, then says that it is waiting for sync to start, preparing to sync, waiting for changes to be applied, but all of this takes less than 2 seconds and when i check the pad it hasn't synced my updated apps from my computer to the iPad.  I have kept re-syncing my iPad and sometimes the number of apps that need updating might reduce by a maximum of 2, but most times it doesn't reduce.  I am now stuck with 44 apps that are showing up on my iPad as needing to be updated.  There is no logical process or pattern to why it doesn't update and/or rarely updates 2.
I could update my apps from the App Store on my iPad, but i don't see why I should download them again when they are all up to date on my computer, when a simple sync to the computer and a couple of minutes wait and 'bob's your uncle' and 'fanny's your aunt' I can go on with using my iPad in blissful ignorance once more.
I'm sorry I haven't answered your question Graham2307, but merely added to the burden that yours is carrying.
I too hope Apple are looking into this as it has become a real pain keep pressing sync and hoping something might happen.
Any help would be appreciated, Many thanks!

  • Syncing movies on iPad without removing music and books?

I have an iPad loaded with music, books, apps and some movies, which I normally sync to my iMac. I am travelling and have a laptop with some movies that I want to sync to my iPad. Even if I just select the movies though and don't select any other sync'ing, the preview bar at the bottom of my iTunes shows all music and books being removed from my iPad. Is this the case, or is there a way to sync just the movies but keep all other existing media on my iPad (I know from the dialog box that all my existing movies on my iPad will be removed, which is fine but I want to keep the music and books on there).

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to work. As soon as I check the box to sync films, it tells me it will remove all the existing films on my iPad. This is fine and I'm happy to proceed but then the capacity bar at the bottom of iTunes shows no music or books on my iPad. I do not have either the Music or Books sync boxes checked so it shouldn't be touching either of those areas and yet they both seem affected. I haven't tried running the sync as I am travelling and if those are removed, I won't be able to fix until I'm back home.

  • Phantom movies keep re-appearing on iPad when syncing with iTunes.

Ok, so I purchased a few movies and TV shows on my iPad, downloaded them, watched them, loaded them to my computer for storage, and deleted them from my iPad- no problem. However, now whenever I plug my iPad into iTunes, that same content shows up in "Phantom" form (greyed out writing etc). They don't take up room on the iPad, just show up when you click on the "Movies" tab under the iPad in the "Devices" column. I have my iPad set to manually manage my music and movies. I can plug my iPad in, snyc it, right-click and delete the "phantom" content, hit sync, and BOOM! there they are again. They just keep showing up! It's really more anoying than anything, but I'd love to know how to get rid of them for good!
    Thanks for any insight!

Hey, I was having this problem, too. The solution I've found is to go ahead and plug your iPad (this works with iPhones and iPod touches, too, I think) into your computer and check "Manually Manage Music and Videos." Then you want to click the "On this iPad" tab and scroll to the albums that are missing album artwork. Delete these manually and sync. Then you can uncheck "Manually Manage Music and Videos," check to sync music in the "Music" tab, and apply. After the sync your newest albums that you've downloaded directly on your iPad should be back in your library in the Music app with their album artwork displaying correctly.
Not sure what causes this, but it seems to almost always happen to me when I use iTunes on my iPad or iPhone to buy things. Sometimes it also happens to items I've purchased from iTunes on my computer as well and that have automatically downloaded to my iOS devices.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1535 Can't sync music to ipad 2

Ok so I have an iPad 2. I am having trouble syncing content, especially music, to it. Sometimes when I connect my iPad to my pc, it tries to sync my entire iTunes library of about 1000 songs to my iPad, which is troublesome because then I have to go and delete all of those songs. Basically all I want to do is transfer a few albums from my iTunes library to my iPad, but it's not letting me. When I try to drag and drop the albums to my iPad on the left column of iTunes, nothing happens. It doesn't say syncing (insert album name) to my iPad. I tried unchecking all the songs in my library so that they wouldnt all auto sync, ad instead only checking off the songs that I wanted to sync to my iPad, same result. Music won't coy to my iPad. I'm currently running iOS 5.1. I recently updated my dads iPod touch (4th gen) to iOS 5.1 and also was able to transfer this music to his iPod using the EXACT SAME PC, but for some reason it won't work for my iPad. Don't know if it matters or not, but might be worth noting that these devices are NOT jailbroken nor have ever been, or are running any third party operating systems. Like I said, just iOS 5.1. Does anyone know why this is happenning? I would really appreciate a solution to this. Thanks!

Open itunes - connect device by usb, when device summary page opens (clicking device icon at left to do this)
In <options> at bottom of page tick box - Manually manage music and videos
A tick in the box to limit higher bit rate songs to 128kbps does not do any harm either and will save you some space.
192 and 256 kbps are true high fidelity sampling rates and you would want real high quality speakers to appreciate the kind of detail these high rates can handle.
Open the device Music tab at top of page, tick the Sync Music box and select Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres. not the Entire music library option.
To avoid duplication when restoring from different backup sources only select one format in the lower pane list views. I prefer to use the Albums list, though creating your own playlists is probably better for tailoring large libraries with hundreds or perhaps thousands of songs.
Note that the Library Music tab from list at left displays all music currently synced to your iPad, NOT what is available in your library or Media Folder.  Use the iPad icon (highlight by clicking) then in the main page use the Music tab (between Apps and Films) to select what to sync.
If you have music in more than one type of list and you have the option to keep your media folder organised - Edit\Preferences\Advanced tab - Keep media folder organised; it can lead to duplication across different list.  I prefer to keep this bos unticked when manually managing files.
