IPad 3 not showing up in iTunes (Win7_64) over WiFi

I have an iPad 3 I'm trying to sync over my WLAN.  It's running iOS 7.1 and connecting to iTunes 11.2.2.3 on Windows 7 64-bit.  Upon launching iTunes, the device will appear in the left navigation pane after about 10 seconds, and will stay there (greyed out with a spinning progress wheel) for about 15-20 seconds before it disappears.  I am never able to display the status or contents of the device over a wireless connection.
-USB connections do work and I am able to manage, browse, update and sync the device.
-I have tried connecting over USB and checking/unchecking the "Sync over WiFi" box.  That has not solved the problem.
-I have tried establishing custom inbound and outbound Windows Firewall rules to allow all traffic to all programs and ports  from the iPad's internal IP (10.10.10.18 on a /8 network), but that hasn't fixed the problem.
-AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe, AppleMobileDeviceService.exe, iCloudServices.exe, iPodService.exe, iTunesHelper.exe, iTunes.exe and mDNSResponder.exe are all running at the time of attempted (and failed) sync.
-Wireless syncing worked properly while on iOS 5.  Really regretting updating to iOS 7 right now.  Lesson learned, unlikely to ever update again.
I've tried a number of solutions but as I cannot recall 100% of what I've already tried, I am willing to start at square one to get this resolved.  For what it's worth, I'm a 14-year IT professional so you can talk to me about pinging, firewall rules, subnets (iPad and PC running iTunes are on the same subnet), protocols and ports and I will know what you're talking about.  Hope that helps speed things along.
Any assistance you can render would be most appreciated.

Wireless Sync
To set up Wi-Fi syncing, connect your iOS device to your computer with the included USB cable.
Click the Device button in the upper-right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button first.)
If you don't see your device, choose View > Hide Sidebar.
In the Summary tab, select "Sync with this [device] over Wi-Fi."
When the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, the iOS device will appear in iTunes, and you can sync it.
The iOS device will sync automatically when the following conditions are true:
The iOS device is charging.
iTunes is open on the computer.
The iOS device and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
While the iOS device is in the left-hand column of iTunes, you can select the content tabs and configure sync options.
Click Apply or Sync to sync the iOS device.

  • Ipad not showing up in iTunes

My iOS devics are not showing up in iTunes.  They are running the latest iOS updates.  They do not show up with iPhoto or finder either, the icon on the devices shows the battery level and the words "not charging".  I have looked through forums that have said to uninstall and reinstall iTunes and I cannot seem to do this in Lion.  I have verified and repaired disk permissions in the hope that something got jacked up and it did me no good.  Any suggestions?

You may be missing the iTunesHelper? Check your login items and if it's missing this should put it back:
    1. Go to your Applications folder, show by icons, and select iTunes.
    2. Use the Gear icon on the tool bar to get to Show Package Contents
    3. Open the Contents folder with a double click
    4. Now do the same with the MacOS folder
    5. Locate the iTunesHelper icon.
    6. Now open up your System Preferences.
    7. Select Users & Groups and for your account click the Login Items tab.
    8. Back to the iTunesHelper icon, drag it to the Login Items window.

  • Ipad NOT showing up on Itunes even after dumping/reinstalling itunes

please help anyone. I have reinstalled itunes. restarted both devices both by plugging in and unplugged USB while restarting. Done everything that has been advised. Any other ideas?? Or do I have a dud. My iphone syncs fine...
I have an older first gen intel imac but have installed leopard fully updated itunes and 10.5.8.

When you say you reset the ipad, did you shut it completely off by holding the sleep and the home buttons until the shut off screen appears, then moved the slider to off? Then back on?
If so, you can try completely resetting the ipad by going to Settings, General, Reset, Erase content and settings. _Warning; This deletes all data_.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Try powering the iPad off and back on (Hold Home and Power buttons for about 5 seconds).
Try reseating both ends of the USB sync cable, on iPad and computer.
    Try rebooting the host computer.

  • I have my ipad plugged into my mac to charge, but it's not showing up in itunes.  Can i just unplug it without hurting it??

I have my ipad plugged into my mac to charge, but it's not showing up in itunes.  Can i just unplug it without hurting it??

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • My iPad will show up in my computer, but will not show up in iTunes.

I have windows 8 and the latest software of iTunes on my computer. When I plug my iPad in, it shows up in my computer, but it will not show up in iTunes. I have tried everything besides resetting my iPad from the troubleshoot guide on the apple website. My mom just got an iPad mini for christmas and iTunes will not recognize her iPad either. I don't know what else to do.

I have downloaded 2 movies from itunes to my ipad 2, but they are not showing up in itunes.  where can i find them?

Tap the Videos app and tap the movies button at the top of the page.
The iTunes app on your iPad is just a conduit to the iTunes Store.  To play your purchases, use the iPod app or the Videos app.

  • HT1459 Just bought a new ipod shuffle for my kid and cannot set it up because it does not show up in itunes. Also the charging light does not light up. what could be wrong, as i am able to see both my iphone and ipad on itunes on the same pc?

Just bought a new 4th gen iPod Shuffle for my kid. Problem is I cannot do the initial set up, as the device does not show up on iTunes on my PC. Also the charging does not light up. Any ideas on what could be wrong, as I am able to see both my iphone and iPad on iTunes using the same PC?

I also tried manually underlining a few things on the new iPad and when highlighting a paragraph, it would skip a few lines and the line would go through a few as well. Looks like a major iBooks glitch needs to be addressed here.

  • 2nd hand ipad not showing as associated device on itunes

    Hi All,
I bought a 2nd hand Ipad a couple of weeks ago from a shop (all legit). As I'm pretty useless with all things tech they synced most of my pics/vids and music from my Iphone using their computer in-store.  As my Iphone has more space than the I pad, I bought extra ICloud storage (not realising that this wouldn't create more space in the Ipad - told you I'm stupid when it comes to tech stuff!).
Anyway, after spending saving my pics, vids and music to an external hard drive via Itunes, I then synced my favourites to my Ipad to give me more space. I first noticed that there was a problem when trying to play some of my songs, it would say "this device is already associated an an apple I.d.. if you download past purchases with your id you cannot automatically download past purchases with a different id for 90 days".
Two issues with this.. The first being that the songs it is saying this for were NEVER purchased from Itunes - they were ripped from c.d's onto my Itunes library (and have always played ok on my Iphone and Ipod shuffle).  Secondly, I have only ever had/used one apple i.d for my computer, Iphone, Ipod shuffle and now this Ipad.  The Ipad has been fine using my apple i.d for everything else.. ie, apps, Itunes store and also buying extra i.cloud storage, so I'm not sure why it is viewing it as a different i.d?
After looking on my Itunes account I noticed that under "manage devices" it is only showing my Iphone and computer as an associated device (I'm not too bothered that it doesn't show my Ipod shuffle because I only sync my music occasionally on that). Is this because it's second hand, and if so what can I do about it? Although I bought this primarily so I can view my pics and home vids on a larger screen than my phone, I don't want to worry about losing music from Itunes if it's viewing my Ipad as belonging to someone else, or an authorised device etc. By the way, the shop I bought the Ipad from is legit, they ask for proof of ownership before buying anything - this Ipad was one someone received free as part of a phone upgrade before selling it so it can't be an issue with being blocked etc.
Thanks - any help and/or advice on how I can sort this out would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks for replying Ralph,,
I just tried that - still no difference. Ipad not showing up as an associated device on itunes, and on my Ipad when I try to turn automatic downloads on it comes up with the same message.. already associated with an apple ID.. 90 days etc etc.
It makes no sense as the extra icloud storage (and the money they've taken from me to pay for it) has been done using this ipad, my usual apple id and payment details and has been synced to my itunes account (which is associated with my id and authorised). If you have any other ideas (or alternatively know which dept I should contact in Apple) I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks :-)

  • The content purchased on iPad is not showing on Mac iTunes

I bought one season of a tv show on my ipad last night, and I went to watch it on my Mac and it is not showing in my iTunes account.

Of course it always works, what are you talking about.
I appreciate that re-downloading is only available in the US and then only with certain content. However content that cannot be re-downloaded is not offered for purchase on the Apple TV.
