IPad 3: problem downloading Nikon D3100 images off Apple Camera Kit SD cardreader

Hi All,
I got a new iPad 3 and would like to download images taken with a Nikon D3100 through the SD card reader.  When I insert the SD card (SanDisk 64 GB Ultra) into the Apple Camera Kit SD card reader, a message immediately pops up saying that "Content Not Available: Cannot Read the Connected Storage Media".
I can see the images on the camera so I know they have not been erased or corrupted.   I am traveling and do not have a USB cable.  The SD card was  previously formatted in the camera.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Is there a compatibility issue for Nikon with iPhoto?
I am on the road and very much like  to be able to download and share images with family ASAP.
  Thanks

You import photos using the Photos app, not iPhoto app.
If you can get access to your friends computer, there's another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

The file name only has 6 characters and I'm not sure what the .mod format is. So that's why they are not seen by the iPad.

  • My iPad won't download video rentals from the apple store

I've tried to download two films from the apple store on a rental basis on my new iPad mini. When I try to download it just says there is an error and it can't be downloaded at this time and to tap to retry, when you retry the same thing happens. I did get it to download once but then it just got stuck at processing. Can anybody help as I can't remove them from my queue either.

  • IPad mini problem downloading

Every time i try to download a free app on the iPad it asks me for my credit card info? Why?

This is an identity verification.  If the app is free, you won't be charged.

  • Problems downloading a program/file off the internet, end up as Excel files

When I attempt to download a program or a file off the internet, and save it to disk it appears as an unreadable excel spreadsheet on my desktop. What is going on?

    Hi, Mary.
    1. Can you provide an example, such as a URL / link to a file you have attempted to download?
    2. See my "Resetting Launch Services" FAQ.

  • IPad 3 problem downloading purchase

Hi, I have just purchased an ebook through click bank and my iPad is saying safari cannot open page. The website said I need to have acrobat reader (adobe) which I instantly downloaded and it still will not give me the option to open in adobe reader so I'm $50 poorer and super frustrated, can anybody help?

The iOS Adobe Reader does not support opening eBooks published with the ePub format. We intentionally support only PDF files. The BlueFire Reader and the iBooks Reader may be able to open such files (and both are Free).

  • Problem downloading Mavericks 10.9 from Apple Store

    Hi
I'm running os x 10.9.1 on my Mac Mini 2,5 Ghz Intel Core i5 that i bought 3 month ago...
I tried to download Mavericks 10.9 for emergencies from apple store but an error tells me to go to the purchases page and try gain but the same error occurres again and again. I know there's nothing wrong with my settings because i already downloaded the update 10.9.1 and still downloading other stuff without any problems.
    What should I do?
    Thanks

Acytualy it's working. I went to the application folder, an icon of Mavericks was there with the sign "x" on the top left corner. I clicked on it and it asked me if I want to delete the dowonload, I said yes and restarted the download on apple store and it downloading just fine.
I have a backup on an external drive with time machine and it's working as it should but when i wanted to try it by restarting with command+R keys it took me directly to Recovery by Internet and did not consider my Time Machine Backups disk. That why I wanted to have a copy of Mavericks to make a bootable disk of it.
    Thanks anyway

  • Problem downloading because I have 2 Apple IDs using a single computer

    Hey guys,
I use a single Mac for 2 Apples IDs. So, I bought a movie a week ago in my Apple TV and now when I trting to download it to share with my other devices I got next error message
How can I fix the problem?
    Thanks

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Mac App Store and iTunes Store content can only be updated with the Apple ID that purchased it. So you Mac apps can only be updated with the old ID and your iOS apps can only be updated with the new ID.
As far as OS X, at this point you can purchase Mountain Lion with whichever of your IDs that you choose. You are not tied to using the ID that bought Snow Leopard. However, if you start mixing and matching, it will become confusing to you. I would stick to using the old one strictly for the Mac content and the new one for iTunes content.

  • Downloading Nikon NEF Raw into Photoshop CS3

I recently changed from a Canon DSLR to a Nikon D5000.Like many other Nikon users I have hit a problem in trying to download Nikons NEF images into CS3 .On trying to open RAW images up comes the message "Unable to open document".I have checked on the bridge that the  ACR is 4-6-03 .Should I download ACR 5-6 or is it not compatible with CS3 ? If it is will it help solve problem.
I haven't opened NIKONS  software suite as I prefer to work with Photoshops RAW toolbar beside the downloaded image.Any advice appreciated

Your camera's images need ACR 5.4 to open them.
As you suspected this is not compatible with CS3 – it needs CS4.
You can however use the latest version of the stand-alone DNG converter to create files readable in CS3 if you don't want to upgrade Photoshop.

  • I am having problems downloading from apple store.

I have problems downloading Adobe Revel (software) from Apple Store.
This software download up to 90% and stop, and I can´t continue download and get this kind of error "Adobe Revel failed to download. Try again from the shopping page" (this is a translation from Spanish Version of Apple Store.
I go to Shopping area of Apple Store and I can´t continue downloading.
    I have a iMac (i5).

Read this whole message before doing anything.
    Back up all data.
Quit the App Store application if it’s running.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.appstore
Leave the Library folder open. Try the App Store again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
    Step 2
If you still have problems, quit again. Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
    Cookies/com.apple.appstore.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist
Test. If the App Store now works, delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, quit again. Put back the files you moved, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place, and continue.
    Step 3
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
    test -d $TMPDIR../C/com.apple.appstore && rm -r $_
Drag or copy and paste the selected line — do not type it — into the Terminal window. You should get a new line ending in a dollar sign ("$"). Quit Terminal.
Test. If the issue is still not resolved, post again.

  • Duplicate images from camera kit.

I have an iPad 2 and camera connection kit.
I want to use the iPad as backup for raw files from my canon 550d while on vacation, so want to keep the images on my sd card between re imports to my iPad.
I understood from various posts online that the iPad would offer to import new images when I insert the sd card into the kit. However in my tests I only seem to have the option to manually select images or import all images. The latter imports all images including those imported already.
Am I missing something? Can I get the iPad to ignore duplicates when importing images using the camera connection kit?

I have the idendical problem as Emily. When I plug the my camera directly into the Apple Camera Connection Kit, only a few of the previously imported photos have the green check mark. If I remove the SD card from my camera and plug it into the CCK, then it works correctly; all of the previously imported photos have the green check mark. I am using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi and I shoot RAW.
I hate to keep removing the card from my camera on each import. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

  • IPad and Camera Kit

I plan on getting the Apple "camera kit" for the iPad, so that I can upload photos and video from a camera while traveling.
Apple says that you will be able to transfer photos AND video.
    But I had a question.
I will have a Canon DSLR T2i(rebel) that shoots 1080p HD video as well as 720p as well as 640 x 480 video.
I am also thinking of getting the smaller FLIP camcorders or the Kodak Zi8. They both shoot HD video, but the flip transfers via usb and the kodak has removable SD cards.
Basically, does anybody know if you'll be able to transfer 1080p video clips to the ipad? Or at least 720p HD clips?
Thanks for any and all help or advice concerning this question.
Also...not a question, but I hope Apple releases a "lite" version of iLife(imovie/iweb/garageband) for the ipad, like they did with iwork.
    Peace out.

I can't comment on 1080p but 720p videos from my Nikon D90 import and play on the iPad without a problem. RAW files and jpgs also import fine.
I also have a flip video ultra HD that will connect to the iPad and I can copy the files to the iPad but I cannot view them on the iPad. So with regards to the Flip video camera, the iPad can only be used as a backup device.
The weird thing is when I connect the flip video to the iPad, in the import screen, iphoto does show thumbnails for the individual clips. Perhaps, the flip video embeds a jpg thumbnail for sorting, preview, etc. or the ipads can view that file format but apple has decided not to include it in the OS.

  • Ipad air video only found in album and not camera roll. How do I delete it?

I have an iPad Air (ios 8.3) and in my default photos app is a video I made for media class a few months ago. I did all recordings on my ipad and transferred them to my Macbook Pro for editing. When I edited the videos into one video I transferred it back to my ipad. I made an album for my video project too. Once I no longer needed the video I went to delete it. I first go to delete the album but it won't let me. The x to delete it doesn't pop up. It does for the other albums but nit this one. I then go ti my camera roll to delete the videos but its not there. I go to collects and I can see it but I can't delete it. The option doesn't pop up. I go to iMovie on my ipad and it can find my video but again it's not in my camera roll. I go to my Macbook Pro and go to itunes. I can't find it via laptop.
So 2 questions come to mind.
1- Why can I only see the video in 'collections' 'imovie (ipad)' and 'albums' but not in 'camera roll' 'itunes' and 'laptop'?
2- How do I delete it?

Videos and/or photos that you sync from your computer to the Photos app won't be in the camera roll album, and you can't delete them (or their albums) directly in the Photos app - only photos/videos that you take with the iPad, saved from emails/websites, or copied via the camera kit can't be deleted directly in Photos.
To delete it you need to reconnect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and change your photo sync selection on its Photos tab in iTunes and resync. If you want to delete all videos and photos that you synced from your computer then try selecting and syncing just an empty folder.

  • Problem with downloading Nikon D-7000 images

I am having problem downloading images from new Nikon D7000 to my iMac to view in iPhoto.  No Nikon ikon appears on the desktop. I can view the images on playback in the camera.
    Solutions?

A Nikon icon will not appear on the Desktop — that is normal. You should be able to import from within iPhoto (or Aperture). Or you can use Image Capture or Nikon Transfer. But the best way is to use a card reader. That will mount like a disk.
