IPad 3 - PS Touch locked up at startup screen...

I've seen other posts about this but have not come across any fixes for this problem short of replacing the machine with a new one.  It's been working fine right up until this morning when I tried to open it, first time using it since a couple of days and now I just get the startup screen.
Has anyone found any other fixes for this issue?
Thanks in advance...

Glad to hear that worked. Thanks for posting the solution, we can suggest it as something to try if we hear of others having the freeze at launch.

Since updating my iPad 2 to IOS6 and activating my icloud for backup, my iPad has permanently locked. Message on screen is "iPad Not Backed Up". I click ok but no response. Cannot turn power off and cannot restore via my pc itunes. What are my options?

Thanks to everyone who responded and related subject helped. Holding the home button and power button simultaneously for 10-15 seconds does unlock the screen. I can now use my ipad again. However, a futher problem has arisen since updating to IOS6 and activating icloud at same time, Although not sure if its related. The problem is that when connected to my PC the itunes message appears 'Cannot read ipad'. It instructs you to restore but keeps timing out after about 1 hour. This maybe internet issue but can't understand why itunes cannot read my ipad. May need to completely erase all content & reset. Or any other suggestions why this has happened?

  • Update failed Ipod Touch locked on USB Connetion screen

32 GB iPod touch failed to update to lates software. All I get on the iPod screen is the iTunes logo with the USB cord.  Tried to reset by holding down "Home" button and Power button.  Screen starts with apple logo for 4 seconds, flashes white, then goes back to apple logo.  When released comes backup with iTunes logo and USB cord on screen again.
    Any Suggestions?

So you tried recovery mode using the exact instructions in the Apple support document above?
How about connecting the device to iTunes in DFU mode?

  • A solution: Error 0xE8000035/Touch frozen on Apple startup screen

My Touch recently had this issue, and as I was researching solutions I noticed that quite a few other people are having the same problem. So, I thought I'd post the solution that worked for me.
Go to the following link and do precisely as it says: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
I did and my Touch is working beautifully again.
    Two caveats:
1.) Allow plenty of time. The initial restoration process isn't bad, but restoring content takes quite awhile (presumably longer the more content you have on the Touch--mine's about 80% full and the entire process took about 4 hours).
2.) Restoring from a backup restores settings, not content. I don't know if this is how it's supposed to be, but that's how it worked for me. When I realized this I decided to do another restore and start from scratch, as if my Touch were brand new. I was concerned that whatever caused the problem in the first place would recur if I restored from the backup, and since settings are easily and quickly set and I was going to have to restore all the content anyway, I thought I may as well just start fresh.
Anyway, it worked beautifully and my baby is all better now. Hope this helps someone.

Thank you! The recovery procedure you linked to seems to be working, though it was slightly different for me than on the Apple site.
Specifically, when I held the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons, my iPod would eventually return to the Apple logo screen, rather than turning off. I found that if I held both buttons and waited for the screen to briefly go black, I could release the Sleep Wake button, and connect the iPod to my Mac, while continuing to hold the Home button.
It took a few tries, but eventually I got the iTunes dialog box (about recovery mode) and was then able to restore the iPod to its factory settings.
I am in now the midst of restoring my iPod to its most recent backup, and I'm hopeful that you've solved my problem. Many thanks!!

  • TS3274 IPAD wont activate after resetting to startup screen

A couple of nights ago, my iPad3 reset itself to the signing screen - and starting cycling through the activation process.  I can't get it to activate now...and itunes won't complete activation when hooked up by USB - any suggestions?

    Try resetting your iPad.
Do you have an iPad Wi-Fi + 3G? Make sure it has access to the Internet through your computer, a Wi-Fi or cellular data network.

  • Help my ipad 2 is stuck on the startup screen and keeps rebooting

Ipad 2 is constantly rebooting and wont work

Did you try this at all?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • PSTouch Ipad 4 - Locked startup screen

I have an Ipad 4, current IOS, and the latest version of PSTouch.  The app freezes on the startup screen.
    I have rebooted the ipad.
I have deleted and reinstalled the program.
I have deleted the program.  Restarted the ipad.  Reinstalled the program. Restarted the ipad.  Launched the app and it still freezed on the startup screen.
I was working on the app earlier and tried to save a project (nothing crazy, photo from ipad, 2 layers) and the app freezed while trying to save (the blinking squares kept blinking for about 6 minutes).  I left the app, returned to the app, and the program was still displaying the four blinking boxes.  i tried again after several minutes.  it was still hung.  i force quit the program.  then on restart the program hung on the startup screen.  multiple restarts and reinstalls and the same result.
    any ideas?
    thanks.

How much storage do you have available on your device?
    Thanks!

  • TS4006 I lost my iPad! I initially set up a screen lock in iCloud but now my iPad is no longer in the list.

I lost my iPad! I initially set up a screen lock in iCloud, only to find out that I would then not be able to find my device. I then removed my device from the list in iCloud. Now, after clicking on "find my iPhone", it does not appear in the list. How do I get it back in my list of devices? The fact that it was originally in the list, does it mean that I did activate "find my iPhone"?

you did activate find my iPhone but because you removed it from the devices list, you cant do anything further.  You need the device to add it back to the list.

Try giving it a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and then see if your touch screen is back.

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode

  • IPAD 2: Lock on Apple Startup Logo/USB Failure

I am extremely disappointed in my local (Vancouver, BC, CAN) apple store and really apple corporate.  I received an Ipad 2 last year on May 13 for my birthday.  One week ago it froze on the apple startup screen.  I brought it into the apple store expecting them to fix it or stand behind the product.  I was politely informed that there was an error reply on my USB and that I was beyond my warranty, so my options were to buy another Ipad 2 at a lower price or buy a new one.  All my apps, movies, music and any other files are gone and my option is to buy another.  Talked to tech help, talked to the local manager and same answer and a friendly smile.  I have an apple tv, powerbook and ipod and not a problem.  I don't know where else to voice a complaint.  It is a disheartening end to the business relationship with Apple.
    Merle ([email protected])

You're past the end of the warranty yet were still offered a replacement product at a lower cost. What's wrong with that?
You say all of your apps, movies, music and other files are gone?
    1. You can redownload all previously purchased apps again at no charge.
    2. You did sync with your computer didn't you? Anyone who doesn't have a backup plan for their data is asking for trouble.

we have an ipod touch 4th gen and the screen is locked up and it will not back up or restore. I have removed iTunes and reloaded also iCloud the same we are needing help

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons and await restart. No content will be affected.
