  • If you brake your ipad, and they replace it for 250 dollars, is the new ipad refurbished??

    I want to know

You don't have any choice in the matter.  It is at the Apple's discretion whether you will be provided a refurbished or new unit.  It is highly unlikely that they will give you a new iPad if they have refurbished units available.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipad

  • I've bought my iPad in may 2010, but I've not had the possibility to use it for personal reasons. last week I opened it and after switching it on I've realized that the screen is not working (I can see just half screen).whut can I do?

I went back to th shop and they want me to pay for a new one cos is no longer guarantee. It's umbelievable that a new iPad doesn't work and Apple doesn't give u back one standing the fact that is a production defect.
    Whut can I do?

It may or may not be possible to verify the usage of such a technology device. And where did you get the idea that it costs $10 to manufacture and sell an iPad? I think the parts cost alone was $260, not counting manufacturing, shipping, storage, retail space, salespersons, helpdesk support, all the other overhead costs, etc. etc.
With so many people out there trying to scam the system, it will be an uphill battle to try to convince anyone that you bought it and didn't open the box for 14 months.  That's very unusual.
At some point, the store you bought something from (in this case it was Apple) has to say no.  What if it had been unopened for 2 years, or five years, or 20 years? This is what the warranty period is all about. It starts on the day you buy it and ends at the end of the warranty period, regardless of usage.
I am sympathetic to your plight but if you are able to get a new iPad (refurbished would be more likely), it will be through the kindness of Apple going above and beyond.  If you do not get one, it is not Apple's fault you waited this long and there is no requirement for them to replace it.

  • IPad or iPad 2?

I would like to get a 32GB or 64GB iPad. It doesn't matter if its the orginal iPad (refurbished from Apple) or iPad 2. I will only be using it for searching the web, watching Youtube videos and listening to music. The only apps that I plan on using are FaceBook, twitter, Flipboard, Netflix, pandora, Instagram and a few games like Pac-Man, Orba, Temple Run and Cut the Rope. Which one would be good for me? And lastly the cameras on the iPad 2 I won't use a lot or ever. I already have an iPhone 4S for that.

Note that this is a +9 month old post. Apple has released two new of iPads since then.
iPad 1 is no longer available as a refurb from Apple.

  • IPad 2 iOS 6.1.3 Random Reboot/Respring

Hi, my iPad 2 running 6.1.3 has been respringing randomly since i updated it from iOS 6.1. It is a respring in the sense that the Apple logo only appears for more or less 5 seconds before I am pushed back to my lockscreen. It has been happening since April 8. I've tried everything-- a restore then set up as new iPad, a restore from back up, and even a restore in Recovery *AND* DFU mode. Nothing. Random resprings still happening. The resprings happen unexpectedly, whether I'm using the Facebook app or just watching videos. Is there anything else I can do? Could this be a hardware issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Note that I bought this iPad refurbished, around April 2012

I am running into the same situation with my refurb iPad2. A couple of days ago it was not as frequent but this morning the reboot/respring happened 5 times before breakfast. No other issues one our other iDevices running the same version of iOS. For a while I thought it was the Nook app since I seemed to be reading in it when the respring occurred however it happened several times this morning without any apps open. Let me know what your results were from any experiments.

  • Replacement iPad 2 Verizon question

If I take my defected iPad 2 for Verizon will they give me a new iPad / refurbished. Will the iPad need a new Verizon account? I had one but I forgot the pasword

refurbished doesn't always mean 'worn out and recycled'. Most of the time it's just iPads that people bought, didn't want, returned, but they can't be put back on the shelf since they are open, so they're sent back to Apple to be wiped and reprogrammed, but have to be called refurbished since they are no longer 'new'.
I got a 'refurbished' tv once, that was nothing more than someone took it home, couldn't figure out how to hook it up, and brought it back.

  • IPad nightmare, literally

I purchased a retina iPad mini and I love it, but the battery has been very flakely. Battery life is 5 hours max, but I think its actually an issue with reporting vs actual usage time. I have watched 20 minutes of a movie and the battery usage time had only gone up by 1 minute etc. But yeah, something is definitely wrong with it.
I desperately wanted to have it sorted before Christmas, because I was concerned that if I did not sort it soon, I'd be given a refurbed unit, which I really didn't want.
I booked an appointment for this evening and on the way, we hit a tree that had fallen in the road and completely wrote our car off and pretty much ruined our Christmas but I guess thats a whole other story.
I contacted Apple support and I spoke with a guy who said they dont give out refurbished iPads if their is a defective battery, but that is news to me. Whenever I have had a problem with my iPads, iPhones etc, I am certain the models I've been given are refurbished? I thought this was a well known practice with Apple?
Anyway, my iPad is now gonna have to wait until January until I can take it in to the store. What do you imagine will happen? Will I be given a new iPad, refurbished or something else?
I know it might sound stupid, I just resent swapping my brand new iPad, that I've kept immaculate, for some refurb model.
    Cheers

I really don't know what they'll give you but know that in most cases, a refurb can be better since they are scrutinized and inspected/tested more thoroughly than the ones that come off an assembly line.
Sorry about your loss and Merry Christmas to you.

  • Video preview not working, I can see only white screen.

Hello, I have been using Adobe Premiere on my Vista64 for a while, but few days ago I started having problems with previewing video. I can see only white screen, which doesnt react on anything I do in premiere (trying to preview movie, add grids etc.) I tried to reinstall many times but only thing I managed after one reinstall was that it started showing me what is on the timeline when I clicked on a timeline, but when I wanted to play preview it was frozen and then it turned white again. Since that it is still white.
Playback in other adobe programs (such as After Effects) works fine on my computer.
Would you please help me to find out what causes this problem and how to fix it? (I doubt it is codecs because it worked fine before and then it suddenly stopped working without any change in codecs...)

  • I am trying to setup a refurbished iPad and I get a message block that appears repeatedly stating "No SIM card installed."

How do I remove an informational message that repeatedly appears on the center of my screen of the refurbished iPad that I am trying to set up.  The message is "No SIM card installed."

    Hi Saddledoc,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you are getting a message that the iPad has No SIM Card installed. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
If you see 'No SIM' alert on iPhone - Apple Support

  • How Can I Tell if My iPad Air Replacement is New or Refurbished

I'm getting a replacement iPad Air because mine had a problem with it, there were loose magnets in it. I've heard that people have another person's data on apps they have just downloaded and that makes me really uncomfortable.
How can I tell if my replacement is brand new or just refurbished? Is there info in the serial/model number?
    Thanks.

You might hear a lot of things on the Internet but that doesn't make them true.
If you got a refurbished iPad from Apple it would be completely empty.
Refurbished iPads are identified on the packaging.
You can see the model number in Settings > Genera l> About > Model. The model number has a two-letter code, a number and some more letters. The last part stands for the country/region. The first letter can be "F" (refurbished), "M" (normal retail), or "P" (personalized / engraved).

  • Refurbished iPad mini question

Is there a difference between the refurbished iPad minis sold on Walmart.com and the refurbs sold by Apple?
    Thanks,
    Sunny

They are not the same item, Apple only sells their refurbished equipment and it carries a full one-year warranty. The items from Walmart are not refurbished by Apple and carry only  90 day warranty

  • Is the iPad mini refurbished non retina running iOS 7 or iOS 6

Go to settings> general> about> version and it will show which IOS you're running. Even if it is running IOS 6 it can be upgraded to the most recent IOS 7.1.1.

  • How can I tell if I purchased a refurbished ipad?

I purchased an iPad at Walmart the other day and the price seemed low at $299(originally $399 and was reduced pricing for Black Friday).  On the box it states: MD513LL\A   iPad Wi-Fi 16gb White.  The model # is A1458. Is this a refurbished model?  I cannot find anything on the box that states this and does not want to open it.
    Thank you!

It is a discontinued model, thus it may have price reductions without it being a refurbished model.
