Ipad 3 - warranty worldwide?

Hello everybody,
I'm going to New York City this May (2012) and would like to buy the new ipad 3 there. Due to the low exchange rates, it would be a lot cheaper than here in Germany. The last thing I'm worrying about is the warranty. Unfortunately, the whole warranty description written by Apple seems to be perfectly for law issues but not very clear for "normal" people. Additionally, there are many answers all over the WWW and everybody says something else which confuses me a lot.
Is the warrany of the US ipad also valid in Germany? Means, I don't want to have to send the iPad back to the US if it doesn't work perfectly.
And if it isn't - can the additional apple protection offer extend the warranty to worldwide valid?
Thank you in advance!!!

If i buy an ipad in usa is there warranty worldwide?

Warranty is only guaranteed in the country of purchase. The iPad's warranty document includes :
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.
If it's a cellular model then you are unlikely to get warranty coverage outside of the US, so you would probably need to return it to the US if you have a problem with it. If it's a wifi-only model then you are more likely to be ok, but there is no guarantee that you will be able to get it serviced outside of the US.

  • Apple iPad Warranty?

i bought an iPad2 in china but actually i live in india. so, in case of damage, can it be replaced with a new one in an Apple Store in india using the warranty card?

The warranty on the iPad is worldwide, but not all service centers have been cooperative with out-of-country devices, according to user reports. Assuming you purchased your iPad from an authorized reseller in China, make sure you keep a copy of your purchase receipt in case the service center asks to see it, as often has been reported to be the case with independent service centers.
    Regards.

  • IPad have Worldwide Warranty

Hy guys, I live in Italy, a friend of mine actually stay in Usa, if he buy an iPad for me I can use a worldwide warranty in Italy for any problem like replacement?
    Thank you in advance!
    Regards

    Not out of the country.

*Apple may restrict service to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the hardware product.* Apple will provide warranty service either ( i ) at an Apple Retail or AASP location, where service is performed at the location, or the Apple Retail or AASP may send the product to an Apple repair service location for service, (ii) by sending you prepaid way bills (and if you no longer have the original packaging, Apple may send you packaging material) to enable you to ship the product to Apple’s repair service location for service,
This means shipping the iPad to Apple's repair service in your country - not outside of the country. Apple would not send you packaging material from the U.S. to have the iPad returned to the U.S. for inspection and testing along with shipping an exchange if needed outside of the U.S.

  • IPad warranty fee

When we buy iPad aboard do we need to pay for worldwide warranty fee?

Here in the UK the cost is £169 for the iPad Mini (from here, add £7.44 if shipping is required).
Edit : £199 was for the iPad 1st gen, it's £169 for the first Mini

  • Does Apple iPad warranty cover cosmetic damages?

I have the iPad smart cover on my iPad 3 and after some time I've noticed a few scratches on the side of my iPad. Only a cosmetic thing, but wondering if apple one year warranty covers cosmetic damages. It was their faulty cover and error in creating a protective cover. So, again, will the warranty over it?

I'd take it into an Apple Store and ask, but I doubt the one-year warranty will cover minor stuff like cosmetic damages. I imagine it only covers problems like the iPad just suddenly dying on you for no reason. It might depend just how bad the damages are, too.
HOWEVER, if you really really don't like the cosmetic damages you can get AppleCare (I think it's around $99 for iPads) and they'll replace it for you rather than having to pony up $500+ for another iPad.

  • IPad Warranty (Or lack of)

I am somewhat puzzled. I went to the Apple Technical Support Center here in Singapore to have my iPad checked (This is my second iPad) for Compass problems. They confirmed I had a problem and also uncovered another problem which I don't remember and does not seem to affect my work, obviously. They informed me that iPads don't get repaired but rather get replaced. Then they noticed a slight dent on the casing (Which I had not noticed before) and told me that although my issues were absolutely unrelated to the dent, they could not solve my problem
So basically, my iPad is NOT covered under warranty because of this dent, even if I just want to get my problem repaired. I don't care about a new case.
I must say, I've been a loyal Apple customer for 34 years! And although I love Apple products, I am ****** at this policy!

Because this is a User Forum, this communication is aimed at keeping the Users properly informed. And as explained previously, Apple Techs confirmed that my iPad problem is absolutely not related to this dent (Could almost be called a scratch - very small), and that IT IS a material defect. But because it's a "replace" policy only, my "unrelated" problem cannot be addressed. In other words, cannot be repaired, even though they admitted it was a material flaw. So I will live with that decision.
I know some users would want to know this before buying. This is what I grasp.

  • Ipad warranty and aftercare

Dear moderators- please note that this is a genuine question, it is not a non-constructive rant or complaint, it is not off topic.
A 15 year old member of my party purchased an ipad2 in LA last month. She was told that as she lived in the UK she would need to purchase the Applecare premium. Later I returned to the store with her to question the necessity of the extra purchase. I was told that in the event of hardware failures she would be able to return the ipad to a UK Apple store for a free repair (within the initial 12 month period).  Armed with this knowledge she asked for (and received) a refund.
Given that the initial advice was incorrect, I am not 100% confident that the latter is correct. Can anyone clarify the situation?
Additionally after the 12month period does the Applecare only cover hardware failure? Surely the likelihood of hardware failures in this period is miniscule.
    Thanks in advance.
BTW MODS if I have posted in the wrong place then please move rather than delete my post, tnx

    sorry guys...
I guess I phrased the first part of my question badly.
She was told that she HAD to take the AppleCare if she wanted any cover outside of the USA, ie she was led to believe that 12 month warranty was limited to the USA only, and that only by buying AppleCare she would end up with cover in the UK (with the added benefit of an extra 12 months plus phone support).
Later when I pushed the salesman on the subject he then said that the standard 12 month warranty would be honoured in the UK.
I assume that statement 1 is false, what about statement 2?

  • What are the specifics of my iPad warranty?

My boyfriend gave me my iPad as a gift and paid extra for the replacement warranty. Now that the new iPad is out I want to exchange mine for it. But we cannot figure out what the warranty entails. Where can I get this information?

The warranty doesn't cover trading it in, it will only cover manufacturing defects and associated repairs/replacement. If it was bought from an Apple store then you have 14 days from date of purchase to return it for a full refund and you can then buy a new one. If it was bought from a different store then you will need to check their returns policy.
