IPad 3 what hdmi adapter do I use

Hi,
I have a iPad 3 , and looking at purchasing a HDMI adapter that's compatable, has anyone had any success?  I don't see any HDMI adapters in Apples accessories for the iPad 3, but have seen 5-1 and 6-1 units that are advertised on EBay , all claiming to work when questioned via. Email, I am still skeptical and holding back until I hear some positive feed back.
If you know otherwise I d appreciate your help.

If you intend to connect your 2008 display to the new macbook then you will need a USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter ($79) as well as a mini display port to VGA port adapter ($29) and also a VGA-VGA Standard 15-Pin VGA Male to VGA Male Cable ($5).

The 2008 old cinema analogue Apple Cinema Displays were mostly pre-quipped with a mini display port rather than a  VGA or HDMI port. So you will have to connect the mini display port to VGA port adapter to your 2008 ACD and the USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter to your new macbook and connect the two female VGA ports with a VGA-VGA Standard 15-Pin VGA Male to VGA Male Cable.
But I can't guarantee though that the above setup will work for your new macbook and your 2008 Apple Cinema Display. You should double check with Apple support regarding my suggestion. Just let me know.......

  • What wattage adapter do I use on my ipod touch 5th generation 16gb?

I'm getting a new adapter for my ipod touch 5th generation 16gb, and I don't know what wattage adapter to use with it and what not to use

Do you mean a wall charger?
The min is 500 mA (1/2 amp) (2.5 watts) at about 5 volts DC. Most are 1000 mA (5 watts) or higher and those are acceptable. I use a iPad charger that puts out 2.4 amps (12 watts)

  • I have an iPad 2, what version os can I use?

I tried to update to 6.0.0 os but keeps freezing up? Any suggestions?

you run 4.3.3 as per your profile.
You should update to iOS5 first. This can be done only via iTunes.
Then you can update to iOS6, either via iTunes or directly from the iPad's Settings

  • How to connect sound or audio to my tv using hdmi adapter. I tried to connect thru sound settings but my tv is not found.

how to connect sound to my tv set using hdmi adapter. Im using 2009 macbook pro 13". I went to sound settings then output and it shows internal speaker built- in, it wont locate my tv set. pls. help, thanks

You probably can't because it looks like your MacBook Pro is too old to carry audio over HDMI. You will need to run a separate audio cable from the audio out port on the MacBook Pro to the audio in port on the TV.
Check your MacBook Pro model year against the list in this Apple tech note:

  • Mini Displayport to HDMI Adapter - Sound?

I have hooked up my mini by the Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter to my Philips FlatTV. Sound is only played by the internal mini speaker, not from TV.
According Apple Support the sound should be working on the TV when using the adapter. They reckon my adapter is broken.
I know that there is no sound from the Minidvi to HDMI adapter unless you use external audio cable, but with the Mini Displayport?
Has anyone actually managed to make this work?
    Thanks!

As already pointed out in this thread, Apple currently do not support routing audio out via the Mini Displayport connector even though the Displayport specifications allow for this. Therefore a 'standard' Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter will not be able to provide audio since the Mac will not be sending it.
However many people have been disappointed with Apple's omission and as a result at least one manufacturer of adapters has developed a solution to workaround this.
If you look at http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?cid=104&cp_id=10428&cs_id=1042802&pid=5311&seq=1&format=2 you will see the 'standard' style Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter which due to Apple, does not currently provide audio. If you however look at this model http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?cid=104&cp_id=10428&cs_id=1042802&pid=6331&seq=1&format=2 then it gets round the problem by connecting to both the Mini Displayport on a Mac and the Mac's Mini TOS-Link digital output and then 'merges' them together before sending them out via a single HDMI cable. This would therefore provide audio to your TV.

  • IPad 2 to HDMI - works then looses connection ... any idea why?

I was able to set up my iPad 2 via HDMI adapter and cable to TV and then change the source to HDMI.  The system found the source and plays a video for about 20 seconds and then loses the connection.  Can't figure it out.  Any help out there?
    Thanks.

I have a HDMI thing and it disconnects very easilly. Try not moving the iPad around and see if that works.
    Hope this helps!

  • My HDMI adapter can't charge my iPad2.

While I'm presenting my screen on TV or not presenting things, I can't charge my iPad via this HDMI adapter. I've already tried the new HDMI cable bought from Apple store but it still can't be charged. I've also tried with another iPad2 but i got the same result.
When I plug in the power cable to HDMI adapter, power gets in only a few seconds then gone. Any recommendations on this.
NOTE: I also went to store and staff tried my adapter and everything is OK.

Well, same issue here. Just unpacked and connected the Apple's original HDMI adapter to iPad2, no charging.
I mean this is the adapter that has HDMI and old (30pin) connector for charging.
The reason why that is not able to charge is connection problem.
Try to "play" with the connector, bend it a little and it starts charging. As soon as you let it go, it disconnects.
Also, the adapter gets warm - why is that?
Well I couldn't believe Apple designs and sells such crap. Sadly it's true.

  • HT3235 Have a HDMI adapter cable will show video, just no sound

Have a HDMI adapter cable to use with my TV.  Figured out how to get video on TV, just cant get sound?

    Hello D005,
Depending on your model of MacBook Pro, it may not output sound through the Mini DisplayPort of your Mac.  If that is the case, you will need to connect the headphone port of your Mac to your audio-in port on your TV.
I recommend reviewing the following article to determine if your Mini DisplayPort outputs audio:

  • Ipad to TV using the HDMI adapter?

I have the iPad2 and it works great with the apple TV. But when I use the HDMI adaptor, it doesn't show full screen.
Anyone have a way around this?
I'm building a keynote presentation for a client. They want to use it via ipad to TV but it doesn't go full screen. Also, keynotes 9 app on the iPad notifies me that the size of the keynotes presentation has chaged to fit the iPad.
    Stumped.

Now that I know what the adapter is, I can answer semi-intelligently.  I have the original iPad and I don't use Keynote so I'm making my comments cautiously.
I had used that adapter prior to getting ATV.  I don't remember specifics but there were several issues involving image size vs. screen size.  In each case, the solution was in the television settings.  When I got the ATV, everything seemed to just automagically work.  I have no clue if it's because I had previously configured the television or if the ATV performed the magic.
Bottom line - investigate your television settings.
Finally, be aware of Diavonex' comments.  Because of aspect ratio differences, its possible to get the width to fit but not the height or vice versa.

  • I have a macbook pro 5,3 white I am trying to hook up to a samsung hdtv.  I have used a mini dv to hdmi adapter but I get no sound on my tv.  What can I do to get sound?

I have a macbook pro 5,3 white I am trying to hook up to a samsung hdtv.  I have used a mini dv to hdmi adapter but I get no sound on my tv.  What can I do to get sound?

The Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adaptor will only pass video in most cases. You will need to run a separate audio cable along with it. Likely a 3.5mm (male-to-male) cable. Or a 3.5mm (male) to red/white RCA (male) cable. Just depends on what audio input ports your TV has dedicated to the HDMI input.

  • Why can't I see streamed video from PC to IPad 1 on TV when using HDMI adapter but can watch videos stored on the iPad

I can watch videos streamed from my PC to my IPad 1 on the iPad screen.
I can watch videos on my TV which are stored on the Ipad using an HDMI adapter.
I cannot watch videos streamed  from my PC to my Ipad on my TV using the HDMI adapter, I get sound but no picture although the picture shows on the Ipad screen.
Can anyone tell me why this should be and whether there is a solution?

Camera connection kit for ipad 2. Can this kit be used with ipad air and if so what adapter(s) are required please

You can try the 30 pin to lightning adapter but I'm not sure if that'll work. So if you get it to experiment, make sure you can return it. Apple does sell a SD to lightning adapter for the newer devices. So that should be a sure bet. The main downside is that your 30 pin camera kit came with both USB and SD for 29 and now the USB adapter is 19 and the SD adapter 29, so more expensive.
You may want to look into third party adapters, but make sure you use a reputable manufacturer (ie not a cheap no-name off amazon) because iOS7 brought with it software that looks for a signed chip in the adapter. And a chip is 'signed' when a company gets apple's permission to make accessories. I would suggest sticking with companies like Belkin, Kensington and Targus. They seem to be of a better reputation when making things and would have a signed chip.
