The SIM is the main thing you need. New SIM you should be fine. As far as the number, you can look that up yourself on the device in settings > general > about. It will either be blank or have a number. You can also try clearing things out following the suggestions in my post on the thread below.

We moved to Ecuador and need to get in contact with Verizon to end our service. The number they provided does not work. ONE time it worked. I dont know why it doesnt now. Also the chat line is not ever available when I am on line.
When I did talk they said they ended my service and that I just needed to pay the $200 to end the contract. But when i go on line to my bill, they are charging me another months usage it looks like. I dont know what to do anymore. any suggestions?

IPad with Verizon does not work in Alaska.

If you live in Alaska and considering an iPad with Verizon don't do it. It does not work anywhere in Alaska. I recently purchased an iPad while travelling in the lower 48. The Apple sales people displayed the Verizon coverage map which displays wireless coverage for the populated parts of Alaska but what they missed is that you have to change the map to the Verizon Pre-Paid coverage and look for purple colored areas. There are none for Alaska. The map defaults to Extended 3G coverage in Alaska but that does not apply to the iPad.
I was on the phone with one of their Pre-Paid support people and they confirmed no coverage for Alaska. By the way, the Pre-Paid phone support is at 888-294-6830 but that number is not accessible from Alaska. From Alaska you have to first call 800-922-0204, Option 6, ask to be transferred to the Pre-Paid support number. Verizon - Alaska is a state of the USA!!!!
So all I can do is use the thing via my home wireless network. I cancelled the data plan and will need to turn it back on when I again travel south. Looks like I should have stuck with AT&T. At this point I have to return the iPad and get one specific to AT&T.

So I finally figured out how to access my Verizon account on their web site. There is actually a phone number associated with the account. My iPhone is with AT&T so the Verizon iPad is my first experience with Verizon. I looked for the plan you mentioned but don't see it. Can you provide more detail? What I currently have is what Verizon calls the "Prepaid Cellular Data" plan. That gets me 1GB of data per month and it automatially renews each month billed to my credit card. Is that the same? If so then the Extended 3G network does ot work here in Alaska.

IPad with Verizon won't roam

I activated my new iPad with Verizon but it will not roam on cell one towers even though cell one works off of the Verizon network. Is there a solution to this? It says it cannot connect to the network.

I have roaming on. Verizon comes up in the left hand corner and even when it says it has 3G it still says cannot activate cellular data network.

You can create a hotspot connection using your phone as the Internet source. As far as the pad is concerned, it sees a wifi signal. I don't think using the pad hotspot is going to work.

Ipad with Verizon Hotspot on iPhone - Won't Connect

Has anyone been able to connect their iPad with their Verizon iPhone Hotspot? I can connect my wifes iPod, but when I connect my iPad, it connects, but then it says internet is not active.
The Phone shows the connection, but I don't get a wireless symbol on my iPad, even though in settings it shows as connected to my iPhone.
Any help is appreciated please.
Verizon hotspot worked fine with my Droid X, but I dumped the droid for my iPhone on Thursday.

I have done a full restore of the ipad and before I restored the backup I tried to connect to the iphone and it would not.
Any thoughts?

Wow, what is up with Verizon and their customer service?

This company is becoming a joke. Customer Service use to be decent years ago but they are going downhill, fast. First thing, the late release on the Note 4? Why? Second... Why are they taking the headphones out of the Note 4? For the price we pay we should get what is included in the box. Third... Two day shipping on preorders, not overnight especially when they are releasing a week late. Fourth, I call CS before I preordered the Note 4 and was told I couldn't preorder it until the 23rd, a few days went by until I found out that wasn't true. If I don't get mine by the 25th because it ends up getting backordered I'll be furious. If any other carrier had service at my house I would already be with them.

You know Ann there are other people out there who do things differently than you do... I for one use earphones with my phone all the time, when im exercising, working, mowing the lawn, etc. and in my experience those that come with the phone tend to be of very nice quality.

I refuse to go with AT&T, but with Verizon I have to buy the hotspot which is something else to have to carry around. Are there any plans for the ipad to work with verizon without the extra cost and appendage?

Somewhat refuted. But I suspect it's true, no activation fee. Too bad about the stories - I suspect a lot of buyers switched to ATT because of it.
But given the slower data speeds at Verizon as reported at many sites (comparing iPhone 4s) and the lack of international support (thus lower resale value) - Verizon would be the choice for those having bad connection problems to ATT due to coverage.

I have received my new Dell computer and have learned the following: The wireless internet connection on my new computer works fine with my existing Verizon USB 720 modem and current Verizon plan. The Intel Centrino WIMAX 6250 is of no value without changing plans from Verizon to (Sprint? AT&T?). I have disabled the WIMAX feature on my new computer and will only use it in the future if I decide to change from my current ISP to another provider. As for whether my current USB 720 modem will work with the new Verizon 4G LTE, that is still an open question. As Rambo suggests, I SUSPECT that if I am interested in Verizon's 4G, I will have to purchase a new 4G modem, and sign up for a new 4G contract at whatever that enhanced feature price is. As for now, my internet connection seems to be working just fine but I obviously am enjoying no benefit from the WIMAX feature as it is currently disabled on my new computer. I'm having a tough time verifying if the new T431s will work on with Verizon. The website says "WWAN 3G/4G" but not if it's specific to any carrier. Does anyone know for sure?

How to sync desktop and iPad with Verizon e-mail?

I've set up my mother's iPad with her e-mail account, which is through Verizon FIOS. She can send and receive fine on the iPad, but it doesn't sync with her desktop computer. For example, whatever she deletes on the iPad remains on the desktop, so she has to clean up her e-mail on her desktop computer regardless. Is there some way to fix the sync issue?

Sounds like it is a POP3 mail account and the iPad is not set to delete the messages from the server. You have to go to the Advanced setting tab for the account and select when you want the messages deleted from the server.

Printer for ipad with Verizon service

My parents have an ipad2 that has service through Verizon. They have no other internet service in their home, no wireless router. Is there a printer that will work with this type of situation? This is all new to me as I have wireless in my home. Any suggestions would be much appreciated as they are getting antsy about getting a printer. Thanks =)

if they have no WiFi in their home are they only connecting to the Internet through the cell data on their iPad?
You can buy some AirPrint compatible printers that will let you set up an ad hoc network on the printer itself. You then connect the iPad (via WiFi) to the network created by the printer and print to it using AirPrint.
