IPad (3rd gen) loosing screen response while in media shared movie

iPad 3rd Gen - iOS6
Native Videos App
Home Sharing Videos
iTunes 11
Mac Mini - Late 2006 - Snow Leopard
When using the videos app on my iPad to watch movies that are stored on my MacMini (same network) there are some occasions where at a random point of a movie (usually about 5 minutes in) I loose the ability to touch the screen… the home button still works but for some reason the video still plays even though the videos app is no longer in the foreground. To make matters even more confusing I can double press the home button and "kill" the videos app… which usually does just that. But I can still hear the audio of the movie playing over the internal speaker. I can kill every application running and the videos still won't quit and screen touch won't work while the videos app is loaded. The only way to get the video to stop playing is to turn off the wifi and let the buffer run out.
I'll try and get a video of it, as this does sound confusing… especially if others haven't experienced it. It really only started acting up in iOS6. Any ideas?

Issue still the same even after iTunes making its own 'version for iPad/Apple TV'

  • Why is it that my ipad 3rd gen does not charge while connected to my laptop

my ipad 3rd gen will not charge while connected to my laptop, just beside the battery meter it states not charging.

Beacause the USB port of most computers don't supply sufficient current to properly charge it. It is best to charge it using the supplied power supply.

I turned off and reseted the device.

    I don't have Applecare protection.
One more question: Would Apple accept this iPad as part of payment for a new one?

  • IPad 3rd Gen - Black screen - HELP!

My elderly neighbour asked me to look at his iPad, as I work for myself fixing PC's, and obviously know all about iPads too!
The iPad is a 3rd generation 32Gb and it appeared not to be working with just a black screen.
I have had it on charge overnight although there were no indications on screen of it charging etc.
I attempted a reset by holding the 'Power' and 'Home' buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds.  The Apple log appears on screen and after around 25 seconds goes brighter.  However after less than 10 seconds of this brighter logo the Apple logo disappears and we are back to the black screen.  Nothing else appears on the screen.
I have tried connecting it to iTunes running on my PC,  It has never been attached to my PC before. The PC knows it is attached and I get the following message from iTunes:  "iTunes could not connect to the iPad "iPad" because it is locked with a passcode.  You must enter your passcode on the iPad before it can be used with iTunes." - I obviously can't do that as the screen is black.  Again, nothing appears on the iPad screen.  So I can't reset the iPad via iTunes or from its own internal menu.
I seem to remember that there is a way to do a 'factory reset' without iTunes, by using a combination of keys but I can't find reference to that now.
Any ideas?  Please??????  While I still have a little hair!  :-)

Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke.  If it has never been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
Since the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

Have you tried a reset by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 20 seconds (maybe longer) until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider.  Then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing the reset.

Do you clean your iPad screen?  Do not use standard window cleaners, with ammonia or alcohol, like Windex, but a damp towel, followed by a micro-fibre cloth is recommended.  There are also cleaners you can buy which are specifically designed for iPad/iPhone devices, such as iClean from Monster.

  • (iPad 3rd Gen. Wi-Fi) Lack of charging capability while plugged in and in use

    Hey all.
For some reason, it has come to my attention that while my iPad (3rd Gen. Wi-Fi) is plugged in (to a standard outlet from the stock charger out of the box) and in use (no battery saving settings; ie. dimming the brighness), it will charge the battery any significant amount. For instance, when I am using it to watch YouTube videos over Wi-Fi while charging it as well, it was at 10% charge, but after...maybe an hour or so, it was at 11% charge. Curious, no?
Is this a problem that should be of any concern? Or should I simply turn it off while charging it? Thanks for any help.
...Why isn't the New iPad listed in "products?" Meh...
    Cheers!

  • IPad (3rd Gen) From last one week it's screen jumbles up at times and also getting some burning smell out of it.

iPad (3rd Gen) which I purchased 3 week back in Bangalore. From last one week it's screen jumbles up at times and also getting some burning smell out of it. Any idea what could be wrong?
These are the some of instances of screen jumbling I faced
    1) all the app icons stacked up on top left corner. I could move them anywhere on the screen but could not start the app. Later killed all apps and starting iPad rectified it.
    2) starting any app was giving blank screen, restart rectified it
    3) home screen and lock screen both merged up. I could see both of them together whenever I swiped on the screen. Again restart rectified it.
Can I get replacement of this piece, I believe there is some serious hardware issues in it.
    Rakesh

Handed over iPad to support group named "imagine"in Bangalore Saturday evening. There is no direct support available from Apple in India. Know what.. These "imagine" guys are highly incopetent..
When I checked the status in evening, their reply was that there is no issue with iPad, even though burning smell was still threre if I keep the nose close to iPad, but during working for 4-5 hours it starts building up.
When I asked how did they tested it, reply was that they kept playing games on my iPad and they didn't find any issue.. Rediculous answer..
They even didn't bother to open up the piece or running test of full CPU/RAM and Graphics utilization. Now asking me to take it back to wait for either complete breakdown or burndown, no matter where I am.. Airport, hospital, client meeting..
I use my iPad mostly for client presentations, I don't want to be in a situation that the display again jumbles up during a demo session giving impression  that the problem is with our application..
I wish I wouldn't have invested in this device through BYOD program..

  • Is it safe to use the new ipad (3rd gen) while on charge

I have the New Ipad (3rd Gen) 32gb wifi onlymodel,, and I use it while on charge i notice that it took way longer to charge while i use... will in not damage the devoce nor the batter if i use it while on charge?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. my ipad 3rd gen run good using ios 6.XX then last sept i just found an update from my ipad and tries to update with good connection of internet. after upgrading it restarts and a few minutes of using with FB it reboot it self and i can't even turn-it-on, the following day i tried to turn it on but i experince a blue blinking screen for 20 to 30seconds then shut it self. i was scared so i haven't done anything to my ipad. i went to an authorized service provider "Power Mac" @ Festival Mall Alabang Muntinlupa City, Philippines to see if they can do anything about my ipad. but then, after 2-3days of wait thing, the service provider email me that the problem is on display hardware. they are not authorized to open a non-screw unit of an apple so they emailed me that is stated below. i try to set an apointmet call from apple singapore support/customer service but the day and time passed-by apple singapore doesn't call.. why do i have to pay for the said amount if i haven't done wrong to my unit? is it a customer's fault that i found and try its' recomendation to upgrade its' ios?

Following ultimately helped me : Make sure that you are logged in at the App Store App or iTunes App with your apple ID and password with a US account. Turn your iPad off and on and than you should see the Radio button again. It won't work if you are logged on with a foreign account. If you are not logged in at all, it worked, too.

  • IPad 3rd gen 32GB or 4th gen 16GB?

    I'm in a dilemma.
My budget gives me a choice between the iPad 3rd gen 32GB or the  4th gen 16GB model. Both are Wi-Fi only, which is fine for me.
What would people recommend? Should I go for the faster CPU or the bigger storage?
Until it was recently stolen I had a 16GB iPad 2, and while I wouldn't say I had loads of space, I got by with it just fine. But I'm guessing these newer models will need more storage.
    Any thoughts/suggestions/opinions welcome.

Where are you going to buy an iPad 3? Apple doesn't sell them anymore. Buy a refurbished 32GB iPad 4 at Apple's on-line store. A refurb is cheaper than the new one, but has a new screen, back and battery and the same 1 year warranty.

  • IPad (3rd Gen) charging

For starters, love my new iPad 3rd gen (I guess that's what we're calling it now?), received yeserday. Retina display is noticably different, camera even looks bigger, and I can feel the extra thickness, though not a problem. Also love the dictation. Smart Cover works great. Here's the issue: iPad is not taking a charge, at all.
    Details:
    Charging icon does appear
Used the 10W power adapter that was included
Display was off, smart cover was attached
Went to bed with iPad at 9%, woke up and said 9%
    What I've tried:
    Different outlets
    Different USB cables
    Different 10W power adapters
With and without the extention cord for the power adapter
I'm pretty sure it's an iPad issue, and am booking a Genius Bar appointment today. I'm thinking the only solution is a replacement. If anyone has a suggestion before I'm off, or would like to let us know if you're having the same problem, all comments are welcome
Now on a happier note, love the new iOS 5.1!
The camera shortcut is convenient. I don't really speak Japanese, but sometimes set Siri to that just for fun on my 4S. I like seeing the 4G icon, even though it's nothing new. Best yet, the battery on my iPhone 3GS is a huge improvement! Would maybe last 2 days in standby, now it's been 2 days and 60% battery remains!!

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). • No Handoff on iPad 3rd Gen.

Updated my iPad 3rd gen to 8.1 and trying to use the new  continuity feature, but I realized that in settings / general under spotlight search that Handoff and suggested apps aren't even their. I was almost certain that handoff worked with iPad 3? so now I can't even turn the feature on because theirs no button! Anyone else with this problem?

I'm a little disappointed in IOS 8. Most of the new features I don't need or have turned off. On the positive side, I like request desktop site in Safari, speak screen and highlight content in accessibility, swipe to hide in the App Store, exposure in Camera and don't forget "Hey Siri."
