IPad 3rd gen too slow
I'm still using my 3rd gen iPad wifi + cellular 64 GB, but less after buying my iPhone 6plus
That being said, I really want to buy the ipad air 2, but it looks like my wife isn't going to approve this for a while to come...lol
the iPad is updated with iOS 8.1 and all my apps are updated too. My poor tablet is just too slow, especially compared to my brand new iPhone 6 plus. Is there anything i can change to make it more responsive, other than rolling back 8.1, I want to keep 8.1 even though I know it runs slower on older devices.
i would like help with safari settings to reduce lag, and are there other browsers for the iPad that are specifically designed to run fast on older devices? I tried Chrome but it does not seem more responsive that safari. Thanks

I have all three ipads. My home wifi gets 30 mbps speed. Every device in the house is really fast. However, the Newest iPad (4G, 64G) is very slow on any wifi. 4G works acceptably fast, but the wifi is very slow. I've restarted, resynced, reset, restored, and this dosn't help. Any ideas?

I decided to get iPad 3rd gen because my iPad 2 wasn't working so well after using it for 1+ year and I really need iPads for work. I got it not more than 2 months ago. I felt being cheated. Although Apple didn't promise the one year thing, but 7 months is just too ridiculous. .
I know it is impossible to ask Apple to replace our 3rd gen with 4th gen, but if they offer some upgrade plans, I would be more comfortable with this. If so, I hope that they wouldn't charge more than USD $150 to upgrade.
Trading in old devices is important to me because I have no income as a student but I just have to get newer devices to make sure they have a higher performance. Dissolving the iPad 3rd gen is not a good idea since the resell value will decrease instantly.
Other than that, my iPad is a bit laggy comparing to what I felt when it was on iOS 5, they shouldn't make a new device to solve this problem, they should improve their software
In the incident, Apple is just being irresponsible to long term supporters like me, I hope that they will provide us satisfying solutions.
(My English might not be perfect because my native language is Chinese, hope you guys know what I mean)You can check macrumors, there were rumors and they were pretty much squashed the begininng of October, so waiting a month, sure. Usually mac is transpereant enough that its knwn 3-4 months ahead of time that a refresh is coming, I site the release of th Ipad 2 gen i was getting for my daughter, we waited until her bday and got it in March at launch. Not this time. This was a curve ball, ezpecially 4 months ago when I bought mine. I have called Apple everyday, wil call again today to vent frustration, and I am noticing some slowed response on my ipad 3 and would assume why the fast refresh, i have been asking for a path to upgrade for $100 with a well tken care of ipad 3, under apple care etc. Don't know if I will get it, but wont get it for sure if I dont ask. I already was issued a $100 credit on another purchase, which I may be using soon.

I can't turn on my ipad 3rd gen after upgrading to ios 7.0.2
my ipad 3rd gen run good using ios 6.XX then last sept i just found an update from my ipad and tries to update with good connection of internet. after upgrading it restarts and a few minutes of using with FB it reboot it self and i can't even turn-it-on, the following day i tried to turn it on but i experince a blue blinking screen for 20 to 30seconds then shut it self. i was scared so i haven't done anything to my ipad. i went to an authorized service provider "Power Mac" @ Festival Mall Alabang Muntinlupa City, Philippines to see if they can do anything about my ipad. but then, after 2-3days of wait thing, the service provider email me that the problem is on display hardware. they are not authorized to open a non-screw unit of an apple so they emailed me that is stated below. i try to set an apointmet call from apple singapore support/customer service but the day and time passed-by apple singapore doesn't call.. why do i have to pay for the said amount if i haven't done wrong to my unit? is it a customer's fault that i found and try its' recomendation to upgrade its' ios?

I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR THIS AMOUNT.Following ultimately helped me : Make sure that you are logged in at the App Store App or iTunes App with your apple ID and password with a US account. Turn your iPad off and on and than you should see the Radio button again. It won't work if you are logged on with a foreign account. If you are not logged in at all, it worked, too.

Why does my iPad 3rd gen keep saying "not charging"?
My iPad (3rd gen) is frequently saying "not charging" when I plug it into my computer or ac adapter. I'm using Apple cords and adapters, too!
There has to be a power going through to charge it surley , it is ither of or on not low power? . Also daughter judy said '' i have tried ac adapter''. Maybe if you have another device e.g xbox with a usb port in try to connect through there
GrumpyGator wrote:

Charging iPad One vs iPad 3rd gen via USB...
just got an iPad 3rd gen. As I've read here, apparently, the PC's USB port doesn't supply enough power to make the 3rd gen battery charging icon say "charging". Instead, it reads "not charging". However, it initially DOES say 'charging', before changing to 'not charging' a couple of minutes later.
Question: my iPad 1st gen ALWAYS charges via PC USB port. Why? Both AC chargers are 10 watts I believe, so why would the 1st gen charge while the third gen doesn't? Does the 3rd gen require more charging watts than the 1st gen unit does?Using the 10W charger, an iPad 1 will charge in about 3-4 hours, however, the iPad 3 requires about double the time. How long does it take to charge your iPad 1 using the PC's USB port?
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. "Refurbished" iPad 3rd gen for $379?!
Look at the refurbished section guys. Really? I am sorry but after what they have pulled with 4th gen, I bet those aren't even refurbished products, just the piles of iPads 3rd gen they are trying to get rid off. They have lost my trust, interest, and I hope they will be able to somehow get it back, beacuse I really thought of them as a great company. Past tense.
I wonder how long till someone comes up with class action lawsuit for too quick lost of value of the product or any other issues people see with the swipe of those devices. Any guesses anyone???
Also, isn't it interesting how "rumors" of products and "accidental" news, photos of products get leaked months before they come out to pick up your interest to have you maybe holding up on the device to come, yet this is one thing that never had such spill? Am I alone on this, that it is all artificial and great marketing scheme??
so disappointed. In a few countries Apple does work with a company who will give you some return on an existing device; for the US, see:
http://www.apple.com/recycling/gift-card/
Similar programs are available in a few other countries, and some dealers may have their own trade-in programs. But you most probably can get more for your device if you sell it yourself.

IPad (3rd Gen) - iTunes Library larger than storage amount
Hi all.
I'm looking into buying an iPad (3rd Gen) from amazon. I currently have a 12GB iTunes library. I would prefer to have buy a 16GB iPad for the price, but that leaves me with less than 4GB. How do you use the iCloud to only down load some parts of my music library so I can still have pictures and apps and movies?
Thanks!Hi Josh,
I have exactly the same issue. I also have many songs I purchased on iTunes that will not download. It seems random. I have 3 recently purchased albums that only half the tracks on one album will download, most on another, but only 2 on another. It's annoying! I keep tapping download and they just give up saying Cant connect to iTunes'. Even though it is.
Regardless, I have too exactly the symptoms you described, but had them periodically before today. Again, not sure if its related, but have you recently got an Apple TV? -
IPad (3rd Gen) AirPlay Problem
I have an AppleTV and iPad (3rd Gen), but I cannot seem to get the AirPlay to work. They are both on the same network. Should I be looking at anything in particular to match up for them to connect to eachother (like the ip address being next to eachother)? Please help. I had no trouble when I had it at home and when I moved back to school I cannot get them to work together.
Thanks,

When trying to restore my iPhone from my PC iTunes backup it's asking to turn off Find my iPhone from the device iCloud setting. When i am going to turn it off from device iCloud setting it's asking for apple id password then a notification showing "verification failed, the connection to iCloud timed out.
I never faced this on any other iOS version other than iOS 8/8.0.2

IPad 3rd gen no longer charges unless shut off and not recognized by iTunes
iPad 3rd gen no longer charges unless shut off and not recognized by iTunes. Done 2 resets, used original charger and cable and bought brand new charger and cable from Apple store. Nothing works. This started yapping after the iOS 7.1.1 update.
Common troubleshooting is to try a different USB port and to give your ipad a reset. (hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot)
You can also try on a different computer to see if it's the ipad or the computer.
When you charge, do you try to charge plugged into the wall? that's the best way to charge.
If you go through all that and it's still not working hten it may be time to make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out
