IPad 4 App Updates Issue

My IPad 4 home screen is showing that I have 5 updates in the App Store, but when I tap the App Store icon and the page finishes loading it shows that there are 0 updates to download. When I exit the App Store it still shows that I have 5 updates. Anyone have any ideas on what may cause this and how I can fix it? I performed a factory reset on the device, but this did not fix it. Any and all help is appreciated!

There are countless posts about this.  There's a problem at Apple's end and has been so for several days.
However, I have no trouble updating using itunes on my computer and later syncing to my device.

My iPad is showing 2 web app updates in the queue.  However, when I click on 'Updates' in the App Store, no updates are showing.  Any ideas how I can both get the updates to show and then to download the updates?

It is nothing that you are doing wrong.
Many people are having this problem for the last couple of days. This is a problem that Apple has to fix. If you look around the forum, you will see many, many discusssions about this and they have been going on for a few days.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this is a workaround - for the time being.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store.

  • Has anyone had app update issues with iOS 8.1?

I'm running iOS 8.1 on a iPhone 6+.  If I try to update an app from the app store without being logged in, it will hang the process and the update will fail.
Previously, with my iPhone 4 and iOS 7.1.2 the app store would ask me to log in when an app update was attempted without being logged in.
The work around until apple fixes this bug is to ensure you are logged in BEFORE attempting an app update.  An honest techie at the local apple store admitted this is a bug (one of many) in iOS 8.1.  Has anyone else had this issue with iOS 8.1

Nope, I'm able to update an app in iOS 8.1, even if I'm not first logged into the iTunes & App Store in Settings.  It prompts me to update the app, then I sign in with my password.
Do you have Touch ID enabled for App Store or not?

If you are getting the blank app update screen, many people are having this problem over the last couple of days.

  • Apps update issue - iTunes Store sign-in/Apple ID

Thanks in advance for your help.  My iPhone 5s is set to automatically update my apps.  This has been working fine.  Today, however there is a problem.  Today the App Store app is prompting me to manually update the apps, and the ID it is asking me for the password for is not mine - it's my wife's.
This is very strange, and I asked myself if I've made any changes to either mine or my wife's iphone settings recently.  I've only made one change, 2 days ago.  The change I made was on my wife's iphone 5s.  She was getting a message about not enough storage on her iCloud to complete a backup.  When I took a look, I saw that there were 2 devices on the account, her new phone ("this iPhone") and the previous phone we wiped and gave away.  So I deleted the old device since it was sucking up all her storage.
At first I didn't see how there could be a connection with my issue, but I've noted one thing which may not be coincidental.  In looking at my app update history, I can see that the last day any apps were auto updated was the same day and prior to I made the change to my wife's phone. Must be a connection?
Can someone help with a diagnosis, recommended next steps, etc?

When an app that is updating is asking for an alternate password or Apple id login, that is due to the fact that the login the app is asking for IS THE Login that was used when the app was first purchased/downloaded.
What one must do in this situation is to logout of your device with your current apple id login and then to log back in with the alternate apple id login . Once login in with the requested apple id you then will be able to update the cantankerous app.
    Good luck!

  • I downloaded iOS 6.0 to my iPad and app updates are taking days to install. ?

After upgrading third gen. iPad to iOS 6, many apps are now wanting updates installed.  Perhaps I checked too many at one time, but for three days, some have not installed, and there is no option to close the task or restart the updating.  How can I fix my app updating dilemma?

Could you have any podcasts or other background downloads that might have gotten paused, holding the rest up? That's a common cause of lengthy downloads/paused downloads.

  • IPAD Video App resolution issues

the Ipad is reported to have a 1024 by 768 resolution but the video app does not seem to support a frame width greater than 640.
Evidence : I use one app to convert video to MP4 - most of which I can drop into iTunes and then sync onto the iPad, however I got the occasional error when syncing saying that some of the file where not transferred as they where not supported by the device.
after a lot of investigation i notice it was all the MP4s with a frame width greater than 640.
Further investigation leads to the fact that the Video playback on the iPhone is limited to 640 - presumable its the same app on the iPad
question 1 : when will the iPad Video app be upgraded to use the native resolution of the device
question 2 : is there a third party video viewer that supports its full resolution

MPEG-4 videos are indeed limited to 640x480 (as stated in the specs for the iPad). Try H.264 instead; that is supported up to 720p.

  • IPad 2 App store issues.

    Hi
I have an issue with my iPad and trying to update my apps. I have over 20 updates for apps but can't update them as when I click app store icon the updates it says cannot connect to iTunes store I have signed out and signed in and so on but nothing is working yet I run the same ID on my iPhone 3GS and have no issues and I can also still download new apps on the iPad no problems.
Can someone please point me in the right direction.

This has worked for some recently.
Settings>General>Date and time. Turn automatically off so that you can change the date to a year or so into the future. You might get a message that your apps need updated. Try to connect and update then and then go back and change the date and time back to automatic.
Whether you get any error messages or no messages at all - go back to the app store and see if it works for you.

  • TS3274 iPad mini app updates

My iPad mini shows that there are apps that need updating, but when I go to update them, the update page is blank.  How can I correct this?

There have been numerous reports on the forum today regarding this issue. It seems to be an issue at Apple, but no information has been posted on the status site.

  • App Updating Issue

Is anyone else experiencing an issue where the apps won't update? When I go to update my apps, the process bar will briefly appear, then disappear, and the app will cease updating. If anyone has fixed this issue, please let me know, as I have tried rebooting and closing out of it then reopening.

I realised that this happens to all my devices, iPad, iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. Can download new apps but can't update nor re-download nor update apps that has been downloaded before by the same account.

  • Ipad shows app updates but will not load them

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

There is a problem with Apple’s servers that only they can fix. The problem has been going on for several days.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
This is a workaround only and not a fix. If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    Select update on the Apps
Hopefully the red notification number will go away after the updates are applied.
Another option is to update your apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the updated apps to the iPad.
    1. Launch iTunes
    2. Click on Apps in the list under the Library heading in the left Sidebar.
Click on Updates at the top in the window on the right
    Update all of the apps
Connect your iPad and Sync with iTunes
If you do not see the sidebar in iTunes 11 - go to View>Show Sidebar from the iTunes menu at the top.

  • IPad 2 app updating problem

I tried to update the amazon video app and it has been stalled saying waiting now for several days.  when I look in my apps it show it as installed, but I can't reinstall it or get into it any ideas.

Are your screens full? If all of the screens are full, the apps will not appear on the home screens and you have to search for them.
If this is a relatively new problem try resetting your iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. After the iPad starts up, see if the apps appear.
