Ipad 4 Cellular difficulties

I recently purchased a 2nd hand ipad 4 (wifi + Cellular). Only problem is it didn't come with a sim card and I don't know who the network provider is? Will any carrier micro sim work? If not, how do I find out the correct provider?
Thank you for your time.

iPads generally are not locked - only a rare few were when subsidized by the carrier, and I don't believe any fourth-gen units - so the iPad should work with any carrier who offers compatible service.
Regards.

I called AT&T at 1-800-331-0500 and asked for Ipad support. They are going to send me a new SIM Card. This  will solve the problem. Paul

  • Can I use my blackberry as a modem for my iPad cellular?

I'm not sure on how the iPad cellular uses its 3g functionality.
Do I need to insert my phone sim card into the iPad everytime I want to connect to the web using the 3g network?
    or
Can the iPad use my blackberry phone as a modem to connect to the internet?
(my blackberry is 3g and has modem functionality)
    Thanks.

If your device supports mobile hotshot (which is not a modem) then you can use that.  But if you are using an 8520 you do not have that feature.

  • I'm struggling with iOS6 and iTunes [new iPad Cellular]

Last night I connect my new-ipad cellular and was informed to update iOS6. And yes, I did agree to update. After iTunes downloaded and it started updating software + firmware as usual. I think there should be no problem. After finishing updating firmware, I received a notification from iTunes: your ipad is restarting... But in the end, nothing happened. My iPad stayed silent. Power button and Home button have no effect now. I tried to plug ipad to my mac again and restart iTunes. The same notification, saying that my iPad is in recovery mode and I need to restore. This loop never ends. And my iPad doesn't work again.
Please tell me what is the problem. if there is an issue of iOS6, software and firmware, please fix it NOW.
I want my iPad back to work.
All of my data was lost and I cannot use my iPad anymore. What a disaster!!!
    PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Restart the Mac and hold down Command+Option+R. Choose to reinstall OS X. The version of OS X your Mac came with will be installed.

Hi guys, so I wonder if ipad cellular works outside of the US. I need to send an iPad cellular overseas. Can an iPad cellular that is unlocked by AT&T/Verizon be usable outside of the US? I dun really know about iPad. Please help! Thanks

I bought an AT&T ipad air in USA. I spend quite a bit of time in Sri Lanka and have been using it the past month with a Sri Lankan carrier's SIM and it has worked perfectly.

  • HT1695 Would a iPad wi-fi be converted  to a iPad (cellular model) so that I can get it on the go  anywhere ?

Would a iPad wi-fi be converted to a iPad (cellular model) so that I can get  it on the go anywhere , not just wi- fi.

Unfortunately not.  Sell it and buy a wi-fi 3G model.
Alternatively if you have an iPhone 3G/4/4s it might be possible to use it as a hotspot to connect to the internet if your provider allows this feature.

  • NEW IPAD CELLULAR

I live in australia and I want to buy the new ipad cellular. I am going on holidays to the US and to New Zealand. will the cellular work in other countries or do i have to buy a different chip. oh and does the internet/cellular thing work on the plane?

You would need to check with your local Aussie cellular service provider for information regarding using their roaming partners in the US. That can be a very expensive proposition for data.
I think that your best bet in the US is to stick to wi-fi. The official iPad GSM provider in the US is AT&T and getting a SIM card from AT&T and activating an account for a short vacation time use is more trouble than it would be worth to you! At the moment there are no real prepaid options in the US, however that will be changing soon. But there isn't much information available at the moment as to whether you could just buy a SIM for an iPad that you already own.
A Kiwi will need to chime in on the situation in NZ.
As far as airline use, it differs by airline. Few, I believe, are offering cellular service at this time. Most all require that you disable any radio usage (cellular, wi-fi and Bluetooth) during flight, and especially during take offs and landings.

Whether i will able to avail call facilities with my ipad(Cellular) by not jailbreaking it? If not now, whether apple has any future plans to implement the same?

An iPad is a tablet, not a phone, they do have plans, it's called an iPhone....
While it has celluar data this isn't hte same as a celluar line or ability to make phones, can you imagine how stupid you'd look with a tablet against your ear?
Skype, Google +, Facetime, all wonderful ways to have calls

how if theres a passcode in your ipad and difficult to open cause its so hard to type your passcode

Then find someone to help you. We can't unlock your phone. You are the one who enabled the passcode. If you don't wish to do any of this then you can erase the phone and restore it as new.
Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • How can I receive phone calls in my iPad cellular?

I've an iPad wifi+cellular, shouldn't be able to do and receive call as a regular phone?

    MacPaint:
Do you have a cellular radio in your iPad AIR?
It would probably have a different cell phone number than your iPhone 4s to make and receive cell phone calls.
If you have cellular phone call service for your iPad air and not just data service, one should be able to use the iPad as a large iPhone.
If your service provider for the callular radio in the iPad air is only providing data service, then you may not be able to make and receive calls.
iOS8 introduced a lot of connectivity between Apple devices.  You can make and receive calls on wifi connected devices to your iPhone, including an apple computer with wifi running MAC OSX 10.10.   You can also send text messages through your iPhone using other Apple devices.   It is as if you are remotely controlling your iPhone over the wifi connection with other Apple products.

  • Ipad cellular international carrier

If I buy a ipad wifi + cellular in USA can I use it with a local carrier sim card?

    Hey Aranhead,
I found the following info about the iPad with Wi-Fi and Cellular:
Ready to take on the world.
iPad Air offers comprehensive support for fast networks around the world, and you don’t need a long-term contract. You can sign up for cellular connectivity only when you need it. Some cellular carriers even offer flexible shared plans that let you use the data service you already have. If you want a local connection when you’re traveling, iPad Air is ready. Just ask a local carrier about a short-term data plan, pop in a SIM card, and you’re ready to go.
