Ipad 4 charging lead problem

I have purchased a number of leads for the ipad 4 and they keep breaking at the neck towards the 8 pin end. Looking at the apple web site for options and there is lightning to usb adapter accessory can this be attached to a usb charger (possibly a mobile phone charger) for charging? It would illiminate the risky poorly contructed part of the apple lead. Just wondered if this would work. Thanks JL.

  • Ipad 2 charger having problem intermittently

Hi there, I got my iPad 2 last week. First day I could charge without problem, after few days I failed to charge it. I could hear the charging sound, but it will not charge after 5 second. I unplugged n plug in few times, went to apple store, they do not want to replace the charger for me as it can charge in front of them in the shop. Last night, I got the same problem again, this time no charging sound and didn't charge no matter how many times tried it. After an hour, it could charge again. It really ****** me off.. Do u all have the same problem? What can I do.. :'(

It says it's not charging, but if you switch the screen off, apparently it will.
Can't you just fully charge in the wall and then plug into the Mac?

  • IPad charging in ios 6 problems (Ipad2)

When I charge my iPad 2 in ios 6. It says its charging then (nek minnit) it says charged 69% then charging again then it does the same thing. And it did charge to 100% but it took a long time since it did the charging charged charging and charged. Does anyone have the same problem?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

  • Ipad charging problems & auto-resetting

    Greetings,
There is a little problem with my Ipad2 battery I believe. It takes me a few hours to charge it up to about 18%. And it keeps rebooting itself constantly every 2 a 3 minutes. As you can see, this is actually really annoying, because.. Well.. I can't really take it anywhere!
Now, I tried a few things already, so I'm not bothering you guys with a silly question:
"Hard reset" -> Still the same problem!
"back to factory settings" -> Nope, same problem!
"Tried another charger" -> Still nothing, I used another cable, another plug and ofcourse, its original plug, because I know an Ipad needs more power than an Iphone, still the same problem!
"Yelled at it" -> Nothing! It didn't even yell back!
"Put it in a corner" -> It made me more sad than it..
Anyway, as you can see, I could really appreciate your help here!
    Thanks in advance!
    Tips & tricks welcome!

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • There is a problem with the charging cable that wont let my iPad charge. it is probably the little usb thingy. it does charge when it is out of power, but as soon as it turns on it stops charging. anyone got a fix for it? mail me at simenrognli@hotmail.no

My chargers little USB port probably is the fail. it lets my ipad charge only when it is completely out of power, but as soon as it turns on, it stops charging. Any tips on what i can do? The charger is new and has worked until today. i cant bring it to the store because it was bought in my neighbour country Sweden. Thanks in advance.

    - Try another cable.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. You can still go if your country has Genius Bars

  • IPad/charging/static/electricity problem

When I charge my iPad and put my hand against the side of my iPad it feels like a vibration/static. But when I discharge the iPad charger I can't feel anything. Please help. Is it a power surge or something?

    Hi,
I have the same issue on mine when it's plugged in and I rub my hand on the back of it.
It's most likely due to some current leakage. It's not dangerous and seems normal.

  • HT1476 iPhone/iPad charging problem

Our iPhone5 USB charger (from wall socket) often either does not charge, or does so very slowly. Anyone else having this experience?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
If your iPad indicates the battery has dropped to the point of auto-shutdown (about 1% charge) do not power up and use the iPad...doing so can cause permanent damage to the Lithium-Ion battery. If the unit will not charge from the wall outlet, and the charger works with other iDevices, can you borrow an iPad charger from someone else? That will tell you if the charger is working for lower power iDevices and not the iPad. If another iPad charger does not work with your iPad there is not much you can do but take/send it to an Apple source to have it checked.
Please do not force the iPad to run the battery below the point at which it shutsdown.
    Hope this helps.

  • My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable usin ghte same wall plug in the same wall socket?

My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or directly into an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable using the same wall plug in the same wall socket. This makes no sense but I see that it has been posted as a problem elsewhere. This must be due to some kind of degredation of the Ipod. . It is not fixed by IOS resets as others have noted.
Has anyone asked Apple directly about this?

hello i have a ipad mini and recently i have been having some problems with it for around one week, i normally leave it charging through the night and when i wake up my ipad says that my battery is at 100% when i take it of the charger it says 99%. so i restart it and the ipad says that the battery is back to 100% (this happens every single morrning)
now this morrning i woke up and my battery was 100% so i took it of the charger and said it was on 99% i went to have a shower and when i came back the ipad was displaying that i had 88% so i restarted it and it said that i had 88% not 100% even though it had no use while i was in the shower.
so how can a battery drop that much in 30 mins
    PLEASE HELP ME!!

You probably need to recalibrate the battery. See link below.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.

In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • Why does my ipad charge no reaction

The new ipad charge without charging reaction.
But that charger can charging for ipod touch.
And the new ipad can't connect iTunes.

There are 4 things that could be wrong if your iPad doesn't charge
First, like others have said ONLY charge it plugged into the wall with the original provided charger. The iPad will not charge from a USB or computer. It also will not charge well using an iPod charger...yes the plugs are the same but the power output is not.
If you plug your iPad into the mains and you don't get the 'charging' chime and you're also having issues iwth iTunes, there could be an issue with your iPad.
    The charger is bad
    The outlet is bad
    The cable is bad
The port on the iPad is bad
If you have another iPad charging brick, give it a try and see if the problem resolves or remains
If you have another USB cable swap it out and see if hte problem resolves or remains
Plug them into a different outlet and see if hte problem resolves or remains
If you can replicate the 'not charging' with multiple chargers and cables and outlets then the only thing that remians is your 30 pin port going bad, which does happen. If that's the case, make an appointment at your ocal apple store and have them take a look at it. (Be prepared for them to do the whole troubleshooting gig because they'll have to confirm that it's not just your charger or cable). If they can replicate it, and barring any signs of obvious  'abuse or neglece' then the malfunction can be covered under the warranty.

  • Can I use the iPad charger as a live USB hub?

If i was to use my iPad charger (after removing the cable), as a live USB hub for my external speakers, would that cause damage to the charger? Would this set up work? I've blown up a mac charger before with these experiments, don't wanna do another.

The problems with the Apple Maps app were overblown. Yes, there were some isolated accuracy and direction issues when it was released, but Apple has made a lot of improvement since then. I use it on my iPhone all the time and have yet had problems. It doesn't always choose the same route I would have chosen, but that's with all navigation apps.
