IPad 4 FaceTime calling

Can a phone number be listed as a call me on FaceTime instead of an Email address? I have an IPad4

I'm pretty tech savvy and I'm running into the same issue.
I can call from the iPhone 4 to the iPad 2, but vice-versa it fails. The iPad2 facetime app even shows the facetime icon near the iPhone 4 phone number.
It's definitely not user error. There's no reason for it to work one way and not the other.
Both devices are on the same wi-fi network.

After calling AT&T tech support one more time, and explaining to them that the glitch was on their network, they admitted that the problem was at their tower...
I continued to use the phone on EDGE mode for two more days until the problem was fixed.
I even got a call back from a tech support guy asking me if my phone was working properly....
I wish they would have admitted to the problem before I sat at the apple store for 2 hours.

  • I purchased an iPhone4S after I purchased my iPad.  Facetime calls ring into both devices.  How can I make them individual?

I have an iPad2 and have added an iPhone 4S.  Calls for Facetime ring into both devices.  How do I make them operate independantly?

in fact, a different apple id, if you intend to use both devices with the same account, is a terrible idea.  just get a new e mail address, and add it as your recieve at setting as james has suggested.

I saw one post where a user said dust got inside the small microphone hole. Using a vacuum cleaner removed the dust and restored the audio.

  • HT204380 How does a user of multiple Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac laptop) designate which devices will ring when an incoming Facetime call comes in.  If all three are online, should they all be able to accept an incoming video call?

A friend of mine has an iPhone with a cellular data plan, a Macbook Pro, and a mini-iPad.  She's been using Facetime, but says that all of the devices used to ring at the time of an incoming Facetime call.  Now only her iPhone rings.  How do you set whichever device you want to ring?

James: I agree. Please keep them shorter.
The answers to both questions are no.
The iPad is NOT a computer replacement. It is a mobile device.
The iPad can not stream tro the iPhone nor an iPod.
    Hope this helps....

  • My iPad is receiving phone calls, not FaceTime calls, that my iPhone under the same iCloud account is receiving, how do I stop this?

I have an older iPad that we use at my office for Pandora. My iPhone is connected to the same iCloud account as my iPhone is & once in a while my iPad will receive a phone call, not a FaceTime call, from one of my contacts that's trying to call me. It will say the contact's name up at the top like usual, it plays my iPhone ringtone, says "Slide to Answer" but also beneath that it says "from my iPhone." I still receive the phone call on my iPhone but I also receive it on my iPad & I'd obviously like it to stop. Can anybody help me out?

You can do this on the phone and the iPad. Settings>FaceTime>iPhone Cellular Calls>Off.

    Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

Yeah, I know I can restore it, but I might as well go ahead and try. I just finished a backup for icloud and itunes to make sure, I'll go ahead and restore it and set it up as new and see how that works. Seems like I have no other options at this point, I'd still like to know what they did with the Download tab in itunes store, if they removed it or if I'm just overlooking it.

  • I've got an iPad and iPhone 4S, both of which are set up for facetime. When someone calls me, both the iPad and phone ring, even though the phone is set to receive facetime calls on the number and the iPad is set for an email account. why is this?

How can I change the setup so on the email only the iPad rings and on the phone number only the phone rings?

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

My iPad does not 'ring' when a FaceTime call is coming in..the volume is up...
    How can I fix this?

It might be a good idea to reset network settings & reboot your modem:
Open Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network settings.  You will have to enter your wifi passwords again.
Also go to Settings->Safari->Clear History & a Website data.

  • Ipad shows all regular Iphone inbound calls as Facetime.  I only want true FT calls to appear. I switch audio/video and it still happens.  How can I set the Ipad to only register true facetime calls rather than all inbound regular calls?  thanks

My Ipad  will show all regular inbound calls, from Iphone, as Facetime calls.  I would like only TRUE facetime calls to appear. I have switched audio/video on Ipad but it still happens.  How can I set the Ipad to only register only true FT calls rather than all inbound calls that a re not facetime calls?  Yes, you may have to reread this twice and slowly to understand..... Thanks!

    Hi webn,
I understand that you do not wish to see phone calls on your iPad anymore. I have an article for you with some information on accomplishing this goal:
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT6337
    Turn off iPhone cellular calls
To turn off iPhone cellular calls on your iPad or iPod touch, go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off iPhone Cellular Calls.
On your Mac, open the FaceTime app and go to FaceTime > Preferences. Click Settings and deselect the iPhone Cellular Calls option.
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
    Braden

My iPad doesn't ring, when I get a FaceTime call. How do I turn on the ringer,...???

This is very easy to resolve in 3 easy steps. goto
    1. settings
    2. general
    3. where it says 'Use Side switch to'  you will see two choices
    a) Lock rotation
    b) Mute
Mute will be ticked if you are not getting a ringtone when someone calls you on Facetime
    Simply Click on 'Lock Rotation'
Lock Rotation will now be ticked
    Mute will be unticked.
Facetime calls will now ring your iPad2

  • Headphone volume too loud in Facetime calls - iPad Mini Retina 7.1.1

    Hi,
I have an iPad Mini Retina Space grey 32GB Wifi version updated to the newest iOS 7.1.1.
I've noticed that the headphone volume during Facetime calls is always extremely loud even on lowest volume setting and there's no way to lower the volume further down. It's independent of the person I call, and the same problem appears in both in Facetime video and Facetime audio calls.
The bug only appears in the Facetime app and only after inserting the headphones and (not noticable when using the speaker). Setting a volume limit in Settings doesn't affect this loud volume during Facetime calls. I've tried 3 different headphones and I've also done a full reset of the iPad and setting up a completely new iCloud account.
I also have an iPad Mini (1st gen) and an iPhone 4 and I don't experience this bug on those devices.
Have anyone experienced the same bug? Any solution?

pandora?      once I got used to it, it bacame second nature to simple reach over and toggle the hotspot off and on.  not great if you have the constant need, but if you have the constant need, it wouldnt be shutting down in the first place.
If this is a big issue for you, and there is no persistant wifi available, you might think about a standalone portable hotspot.  Pretty much every carrier in the US has one they would be happy to sell you, along with a data plan.
(look on e bay for a used one )

  • Can I use my iPad to make a Facetime call?

Can I use my iPad to make a Facetime call?

Sure, assuming you don't have an iPad from a region where FaceTime is banned, and further that it is an iPad 2 or higher.
