Ipad 4 retina display is slow after iOS 8

ipad 4 retina display is slow after iOS 8, also upgrade to iOS 8.0.1 i think and safari is slow, animations are slow, and i can't restore it to iOS 7, there it was great. i mean its like my iphone 4 with iOS 7 in its best days. i hope no to get stuck again, i mean please let me go to the iOS 7)).
also I've got  message from apple that im not authorised to post this message, so if it goes online i think after many years of apple desktop and mobile i am done with it))).

Upgraded my ipad4 from ios6 to iOS 8 because the new WSJ app required it. HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!!! I can maybe understand some apps being slower but not Safari or Chrome. Apple must be throttling back the ipad4 processor even more with ios8 to force an upgrade to the next gen iPad whenever it arrives.

Try rebooting your iPad by holding down the power and home buttons simultaneously until a blank screen with the Apple logo appears. Ignore the power off slider if it appears. After a while your device should go to the main screen, as if you're turning the iPad on. Don't worry, this won't do anything to your data, it just literally restarts the iPad.

Restore the device via iTunes on the computer.

  • Face time fades out and then tries to reconnect on new ipad retina display on WiFi.  Iphone 4s has no problem with face time from exact same location and same contact.  WiFi signal strong on both devices.  What gives?

    Is the router to small?
Not necessarily, if you are using Facetime all the data goes through your WiFi router, your cable/DSL modem, your ISP and the internet to Apple's Facetime servers and then, in reverse, down to the Facetime recipient. If your ISP connection is too slow or there is excessive traffic on the internet you can have Facetime problems.
Most WiFi routers can handle this unless others in the house are also using WiFi at the same time. The problem may be your ISP connection or congestion on the internet, etc.

  • Can mac os x 10.5.8 work with ipad retina display?

I have a mac pro with mac os x 10.5.8 .. I want to purchase a ipad retina display. Will it work with this ?

No. You need 10.6.8 or later.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

  • I have an iPad (retina display), installed 8 and now I am out of usage.  It shows I used 12.2 with 0 bytes available.  I have deleted most of my pictures, apps and still no luck.

I Have an iPad retina display.  It worked great with 7 but I updated to 8.0.2 and now I have usage problems.  It shows my usage of being 12.2 and I have 0 bytes available.  It seems that this problem occurred after I installed 8.  I regret doing that.  Is there anything I can do?  I have cleared out most of my pictures and apps.  I am down to bare bones.

A restart or reset might help. Either turn it off and restart it as stated above. Or give it a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds, When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot.
Then go into settings, general,  usage and see what's taking up the room.

The HTC hotspot works fine with everything else I connect to it.
Also - ipad will not connect to my HTC via bluetooth. Again, I can connect to everything else with my HTC other than my ipad.
I have to say this is my first venture into Apple products and I have always wanted to get away from my windows based laptop to get a MacBook, the problems I have had (flash player etc) & continue to have (as above) are putting me right off swapping over. I HATE technology that doesn't work and my ipad has been hard work!

I stated my ipad as being an ipad2, but I now think it is a 3??? It was new Jan this year and is the 64gb retina display version.
I really would like to get to the bottom on this problem wit mobile hotspots as it is sitting on my desk next to me now and I cannot get it to connect to my HTC mobile hotspot!!!! It might be taking a flying lesson soon at this rate!!! Grrrrrrr...........

  • Recipe for iPAD retina display

    Hi,
Does anyone have a 'recipe' for processing photos for the ipad retina display.
I'm a bit confused as to trying to print to jpeg (with what settings?) or export.
I've tried a bit, but not been really happy with the results.
    What do you do?
    hans

You could also have a read of Jeffrey Friedl's Lightroom-to-iPad workflow: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/ipad-howto2
This is effectively a Publish Service which can publish via FTP directly to a client app on the iPhone, thus bypassing iTunes and the iPad Photos app completely. I converted to this a few months back. Well worth a read.
PS I use exactly the same settings as Rikk, although I first crop all the images (VCs) to 4x3 if possible to ensure they are viewed full screen on the iPad.
