IPad 4 shutter won't open

I have iPad 4, camera shutter won't open.  I have closed out program, restarted the program and reset the iPad and nothing has worked.  Is there a fix?

Try closing the Camera app:
1. Double-click the Home button to reveal the Task Bar
2. Hold down the Camera app for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close app
4. Tap area above Task Bar to return to Home screen
If the above doesn't solve the problem, do a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider

The iPad 2 camera shutter won't open!  I restored the iPad 2 and it still won't open.  Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem as well with my U.S. bought iPad 2.
My problem occures when I try to switch from the back camera to the front camera, then the shutter will not open.  I've tried everything: turning off, hard reboot, reset to factory, and re-applying firmware... still nothing.
I have not tried charging it overnight, will do and post results.

  • After the 6.1 update on iphone 5 the camera virtual shutter won't open

After the 6.1 update on iphone 5 the camera virtual shutter won't open so I cannot use the camera at all.
I have tried most things suggested in the web like hard/soft shut down, reopen app, restore from backup. Any other suggestions? It should be a software problem right?

The problem is more than likely being cause by corruption that occured during the iOS install or in the backup that was used to restore the phone after the update.
    Standard troubleshooting is:
    Re-boot the phone
Restore the phone from your backup
Restore the phone as a new device.
One of the 3 should fix the problem.

My iphone 4 camera shutter won't open. I have already done a restore and I am using the latest iOS. The front facing camera works during FaceTime but crashes when I switch to rear camera. in Camera mode I can't switch to front camera. I plan on replacing this phone with an iphone 5s when it comes out but I need this phone to work until then.

When you did the restore, did you restore from a backup or restore as new? The final step of user troubleshooting is to restore as a new device, not from a backup. If you restore as a new device and the camera still does not function, it is probably a hardware issue. Make an appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar and have the device checked by a Genius.

  • My iPad apps won't open?

My iPad apps won't open help?

I have the same issues. My iPad 1 will not download apps or update apps.  They are constantly waiting.  I have tried logging out of iTunes, powering down iPad, then restarting and signing back into my apple account ( all through the iPad).  I found a post that mentioned updating the apps on your computer via iTunes, then uploading them onto the iPad.  However, I can't find the update apps button anywhere on iTunes to do that.  So that didn't work.  However, updating apps on my iPhone 4s and iTouch 1 still go just fine.  Im not sure when this started.  I do know that as soon as I downloaded the iOS 5.0.  It was like driving my iPad threw molasses.  The thing was and still is slow as ****.  Which is a whole other can or worms that apple needs to deal with. However, back on topic... My iPad no longer downloads apps, updates apps, and as of right now, will no longer download music that I have purchased through iTunes.  The music just sits the and says waiting to download.  NEED SOME HELP ON THIS!!!!!

  • IPhone 4S camera all of a sudden the shutter won't open, camera freezes.

My camera shutter won't open, won't take pictures, then freezes when I hit any other camera buttons.
This started happening a few days ago, before I updated my phone to 6. But it's still not working.
Tried hard reset shut off. Didn't work.

Well, there are other troubleshooting steps to take that are outlined in the User Guide.

    Hello Kunmon,
The following article provides some useful troubleshooting that can help get your iPhone's camera working correctly.
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • IPhone 4 camera shutter won't open when on WIFI

SInce upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 on my iPhone 4 the camera app's shutter won't open when on wifi.  Works fine when on 3g.
I reset the phone, restored the os, turned on an off location services, etc etc and nothing works.
Anyone else have this issue or have a solution for this?
    Steve

Camera shutter PROBLEM SOLVED on my iPhone 4.   It looks the shutter locking is due to moisture.   I dried the phone using the cold very dry air from an air conditioner outlet for one hour.   The shutter began opening lickety split, better than ever before.(refrigerator or freezer wll not work!!!! - will not dry the phone internals) .
A guy on Youtube suggested drying out an iPhone 3 in the sun to solve Wifi operation problem and I decided to try on my iPhone 4.  The trick worked, camera shutter opens in about 1/2 second rather than 4 or 5 seconds or never.   To remove moisture from the phone, I suggest the A/C trick as more effective and safer than sun or hair drier.   Other possibility could be the 2 day jar of rice treatment.    RS in Kuala Lumpur

  • Ipad Air won't open in My Computer

    Hi,
My Ipad Air won't open in My Computer on my PC. My Iphone and older Ipad open just fine, but my newer one won't. It shows up fine in Itunes.
I'm trying to get on it to see about copying photos. My PC has, for some reason, converted a bunch of my photos to the .ithmb suffix and they won't open on my PC. This whole episode is baffling. Any help would be appriciated.

    Hello BHP11,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with importing photos from your iPad Air.
First, if the AutoPlay dialog box does not open, the following article suggests to check your settings:
Import photos in Windows Vista or Windows 7
Import photos or video from your device to your PC:
Connect your iOS device to your computer. If the AutoPlay window appears, click "Import Pictures and Videos using Windows," then skip to step 4. If the "Import Pictures and Video" dialog appears, skip to step 4.
If the AutoPlay dialog doesn't appear, you might need to check your settings.

  • Please someone help. When I tap Purchased on the ipad, it won't open to show me my purchases. It just says loading, but never does!

Please help! When I tap Purchased on my ipad, it won't open to show me the purchased apps. It says 'Loading' but never does. I use the apps to help my daughter who has an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Thank you in advance

Hi, I was having the same problem on my new Mini.  It would load fine on my iP3 and my phone but not my mini.  My two daughters both have iPads linked to my iTunes account.  They download a bunch of apps and I suspected this had something to do with it.
After a few hours, I found how to hide the purchased apps in iTunes (go to Store, App Store (up the top) then the Apps tab.  Hover the mouse until you get an X then click on it.  It doesn't delete it from your library, just stops it showing up on your iPad.  I did this, launched Purchased on my iPad mini and boom they all came up.  I just hid those I don't use/want any more, and some of the older ones my kids have purchased.  Cut the number down from nearly 500 to 280 and it loads like a charm now.

  • Podcasts show up as on ipad, but won't open on ipad

When I sync my ipad, my podcasts show up in my library, and on the computer as being on the ipad, however when I go to the ipad, the icons are there, but when I tap them, they won't open.

Try a couple of basic troubleshooting steps.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Quit the Music App and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus (-) sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • My simcard slot for my iPad 4 won't open

I Failed to open my simcard slot for my iPad 4.its hard when you insert the pin.i tried pushing harder put it won't open.how do I get it to open, and if not have I damaged it.

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears. Try again to see if the problem persists.
    EDIT:
Sorry, I see didn't fully ready your post and see that you have already reset and restored. Try forcing your iPad into recovery mode before restoring. Be prepared to do this more than once as it sometimes takes a few attempts to work. Follow these instructions.

  • Ibook title shows up on iPad but won't open

hi - trying to troubleshoot my husband's Ipad problem as a Valentine's Day present.   He has ordered ibooks and they appear and open on his iphone and macbook pro, but his ipad, the titles show up but they won't open.   Any ideas?

There are two more things that I would recommend but first I should ask - is iBooks - the app itself - functioning properly? Can you open other books in the app with success?
You can delete the books and then download them again for free - using the same Apple ID that you bought the books with.
You can reset the iPad as well and see if that helps.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. The iPad will start up again but it may take a couple of minutes. this "clears" the iPad completely for lack of a better description.
The iPad user guide is available as a free book in the iBooks Store and it is quite helpful. Do a search for "iPad User Guide for iOS 5" and you will find it.
Here is the pdf version of the guide.
