IPAD 4 sync with ITUNES used up MAC OS 10.8.6 hard drive space
I just purchased an IPAD 4 last night and set it up through ITUNES as normal. It is replacing my first gen IPAD. Once Itunes was done syncing all the info to the new IPAD I got a warning that the startup disc was full and now all my HD space is gone on my Macbook. I checked my Iphoto and music folder and it looks like it may have duplicated everything that was in the folders originally on my hard drive. I now have only 2gb of space left on the hard drive out of 160gb.Is there anyway to correct this through Itunes without having manually going through all my pictures and music and deleting the duplicates and also why did it happen? Thanks

I have set up my iPhone to wifi sync with iTunes on my Mac Air, but my iPhone's contacts are not displaying in Contacts on my Mac...any ideas?
Hi there kushfromgbr,
You may find the information in the article below helpful.
About SyncServices
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5847
OS X Mavericks
OS X Mavericks v10.9 and later do not use SyncServices. Instead, Mavericks supports sharing your information using several network-based and cloud-based solutions. If you want to sync your information across multiple devices and computers, you should use one or more of these methods. These include iCloud, CardDAV servers, CalDAV servers, and servers that utilize the Exchange ActiveSync protocol.
If you would like more information about setting up iCloud on your devices you can take a look at the article below.

IPhone 4S with IOS 8 will not sync with iTunes on a Mac.
I can not sync my iPhone 4S with iTunes on my Mac. Had to delete the music I had to make room for the upgrade to IOS 8 and now I can't put any playlists back on my phone. What gives?
Hi zara,
the thing is we have no option in iTunes to allow it, no check box. Perhaps this is because we're not meeting the system requirements as listed by Apple in this KB article.
Wi-Fi Syncing requires:
An iOS device running iOS 5 or later, and a computer running iTunes 10.5 or later on:
OS X Lion or Snow Leopard (version 10.6.8)
or
Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
So it CAN be done with Snow Leopard apparently, but not Leopard (as carmstr27 indicates he/she's using). I'll give it a try once 10.6.8 v1.1 downloads and installs.

Have been attempting to sync my iPhone 4S with iTunes using WiFi. It appears to complete the 5 or 6 syncs, but then waiting for change to be applied comes up and it never completes the sync. Waiting for changes to be applied continues for every.
ALSO, on the iPod under Settings>General>iTunes Sync, you may need to back out of the "iTunes Wi-fi Sync," and reopen it to get it to update.
(I use iTunes 11.1.5.5) -
Cannot get iPod to sync with iTunes using Windows 8 Laptop!
I have been trying to get my iPod classic to sync up with iTunes using my Windows 8 Laptop all night! I tried restoring the iPod, I tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes, disconnecting my iPod to restart my laptop then plugging back in. I also ran iTunes Diagnostics and it says my iPod isn't connected yet it shows on the sidebar. I also have automatic sync set up. When I hit sync, it initializes then stops. What am I doing wrong? Is there some trick I am missing. Also, my iPod won't charge unless it is syncing. What's up with that?
Any help or advice would really be appreciated!
Thank you in advance. For the charging issue, some newer computers with USB 3.0 ports (especially laptops) seem to have a "feature" that saves energy by turning off full power to the port when the connected storage device is no longer mounted by the system. An iPod is a storage device. When iTunes syncs the iPod, iTunes mounts the iPod's dlsk. So it gets full power on the port, and the battery charges. When iTunes is done syncing, iTunes automatically unmounts the iPod's disk. The system shuts off full power to the port, and the battery no longer charges.
To work around this problem, go to the iPod's Summary screen in iTunes. There is a setting their for Enable disk use. Check that box and Apply. This setting keeps the iPod's disk mounted continuously, when the iPod is connected. Therefore, the port should continue to receive full power, and the battery charges. That's fine for now, but later on, you can go into the computer's Control Panel preferences to see if there is a setting that disables this "energy saver" feature, and keeps the USB ports at full power all the time, whether the storage device is mounted or not. If that is possible, you can turn OFF Enable disk use for the iPod.
NOTE: WIth disk use enabled, you need to eject the iPod in iTunes before disconnecting it safely from USB. The Eject button is next to the iPod's name in iTunes (to the right).
Now, for your main question about setting up automatic syncing... First, if the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. When connected, the iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES.
Select the iPod in the sidebar. To the right, its Summary screen is shown. Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons starting with Summary. Click on Music there, next to Summary. This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music. This setting enables automatic syncing. If you want your entire iTunes music library on your iPod (and it fits), choose the option to sync Entire music library. Then click Apply. Going forward, any change you make to your iTunes music library syncs to the iPod automatically (at the next opportunity). -
Hi everyone,
My 3.5 year old 15" Macbook Pro is running out of hard drive space, so I have been trying to clean out some of the dross. I recently found that there is a file called "Previous iTunes Library" in my iTunes folder that is taking up approximately 50Gb of space. I would love to delete this folder and reclaim the space, but I am not sure what it is or where it came from, and I don't want to lose music files accidentally. Can someone tell me (1) what this folder is and (2) if I can safely delete it?
Here is a screenshot of these folders and their sizes:
Thanks for the help!Hello facetious1212,
Take a look at this part of the article named iTunes: What are the iTunes library files? Found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1660.
Tip: New versions of iTunes sometimes include enhancements to the iTunes library. When you open the new version of iTunes, iTunes upgrades your existing library to the new format and places a copy of the old library in the Previous Libraries folder. If everything goes fine during your upgrade to the latest version of iTunes, you can delete the older iTunes Library files.
All the very best,

I can't sync my iPad 3 with iTunes using the new Macbook Air
When I connect my iPad 3 with its original cable to my new MacBook Air, the charge symbol in the iPad starts to blink and the iTunes keeps connecting and disconnecting the iPad (more than one time per second).
I can sync my old iPhone 3GS with the new Macbook Air and I can sync both iPhone and iPad with my old 2009 MacBook.
I found similar questions in the forum, but didn't find a solution. I can charge my iPad using the outlet, by I still need to backup and sync the iPad.
BTW, every software is updated.
bw,
Marcos Kutovai have the same problem. I am noy able to connect the iPad3 to my new Macbook Air. It only cycles the charging icon and itunes states the phone has been disconnected.

I cannot get my touch 4 to sync with itunes using w8.1
I am unable to sync my touch or ipad to itunes. I am using windows 8.1. all software is current as far as up dates goes. I don't know where to go from here.
If iTunes does not see the devices:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
- I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Hi, I updated my iphone's software to ios7 but can't update Itunes to 11.3 as my is Mac software is 10.5.8 (needs at least 10.6). I can't sync my iphone to itunes now because of this- I can't afford to update my Mac software so i am wondering if there is an alternative?
If I restore my iphone to its factory settings, would that bring it back to the older software that was on the phone? Thanks in advance! You have to upgrade to 10.6.8 to be able to download iTunes 11. The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for only $19.99. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard After you’ve installed that then download the 10.6.8 combo updater to finish it off. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks.
System Requirements for 10.6:
Mac computer with an Intel processor
1GB of memory
5GB of available disk space
DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible internet service provider: fees may apply. -
Podcasts played on iPhone don't sync with iTunes on my Mac
Sometimes my played podcasts on my iPhone do sync to iTunes, sometimes the podcast on iTunes is still marked as new and transfers back to my iPhone as unplayed.
What are the actual steps I need to take to ensure that my played podcasts are transferring to my iTunes as played with a Last Played date?I haven't noticed the issue with music, but with podcasts it is very noticable and annoying. Basically, it seems as if the iPhone is sending no information during the synch. Podcasts I have listened to and have been automatically deleted are re-added as soon as I synch. Has anyone tried unchecking the synch podcasts button on iTunes? I'm tempted to try it and see if the podcast app handles everything solo.
