Ipad 64 GB - syncing issue

Windows 7, Home Version, 64 bit
Itunes 10.1.1.4
IPAD 4.2.1
USB cable that came with the IPAD
Running Microsoft Security Essentials.
PC gets updates automatically every day.
Syncing is becoming a real issue with ths IPAD.
Day 1, Xmas day, there were no issues. Discovered photos weren't going over. Changed setting and synced - No issues. Saw I was missing videos in photos folder (on PC), changed that setting, synced - no issue.
Yesterday sync fails and Itunes doesn't recognize the Ipad.
Reset Ipad, rebooted PC, replug in the USB cable, turn off auto-resync and then restore.
Everything okay.
Today I start to clean up some of the photos on my PC and convert a video to mp3 format. Everything okay in Itunes.
I then sync and once again, the sync fails, tells me "it doesn't recognize a file because its a folder? I soft reset IPAD and everything okay.
I want to be sure and sync again. Sync fails, itunes wants me to restore and I am now restoring for over 1.5 hours from the newest backup.
I have looked all over forums on the web to try and find out what went wrong.
Please help!
Thanks,

One more thing, when the sync first failed, I got a message saying there wasn't enough memory by 4.8 GB, even though there should have been over 32 GB of free space. The same message appeard during this afternoon's sync failure as well.

    Setup: iPad 1
    Mac OSX 10.6.8
USB connection directly to computer (not through keyboard)
    The Problem: iPad cannot sync.
*Two weeks ago I tried syncing my iPad to my itunes account for the first time, (note this is a used iPad given by a friend)
-For ~50~ minutes I was attempting to sync it.
-I would repediatly get a message saying something along the lines of reconnect your iPad.
-After doing some digging I found the solution was to transfer the USB from connecting to the keyboard to the computer (iPad>keyboard>iMac)
-After doing this I still got the message about ~5~ times until it finally connected and gave me a message saying to go to the summary page and                restore it. I did this and after 30 minutes my songs were synced.
*I am now trying to do this again, got the message once again to restore it (/sigh); and I went along with it.
-A minute ago it told me it was unable to restore.
    ....trying again.

What I was asking is - did you try quitting iTunes, restart the computer and then try again ..... or are you just trying to sync over an over again without killing all processes first?
What I meant about removing the backup did not mean quitting the backup process. I was suggesting deleteing the backup from the computer in iTunes.
Launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and look at any backups that you may have in there. If it is showing multiple backups, delete all but one and then quit iTunes, restart the computer and then try to sync again.

  • IPad Mini Syncing Issues

I have an iPad mini with retina display, yesterday I wanted to add some music to my iPad, I've had an iPod before so I think I am reasonably experienced with syncing using iTunes. After launching iTunes it recommended me to update to 11.1, I did so and then rebooted my laptop. Once I had logged back in again I launched iTunes. I plugged in my iPad expecting iTunes with a small bit of delay detect my device and then I would begin syncing. However after waiting a few minutes a window eventually popped up saying it was unable to connect to my device as it had "timed out". I am currently using a Home Share to listen to my music but it's a pain as I have to always have iTunes on.
Are there any tips out there that can resolve this issue???

    Hey, try the steps below:
    1. Quit iTunes.
    2. Open Finder, and go to wherever your iPhoto library is stored (usually ~/Pictures).
    3. Right-click on the iPhoto Library and select “Show package contents”
    4. Delete the “iPod Photo Cache” folder
    5. Close the finder window
    6. Open iPhoto. It might take some time for it to reload the library, but it’s ok.
    7. When iPhoto finishes loading the library and you can browse your photos, close iPhoto
    8. Open iTunes, goto your device’s Photo tab, and make shure the Sync photos options is UNCHECKED
    9. Sync your device
    10. After the sync finishes, CHECK the sync photo option. It will ask if the photos already in the device should be overwritten. I anserwered yes
    11. Select which photos, events, albums or faces you want to sync,
12.- Sync your device again, and it should do it, including your photos

  • Ipad mini syncing issues with itunes : (x) items could not be synced

I'm using ipad mini (non retina) 16GB with itunes 11.2.2.3. I had downloaded some games from itunes like asphalt 8, GT racing 2, infinity blade, real racing 3, dead trigger 2, and apps like garageband. When i tried to sync these games with my ipad. everything happened normally like
syncing apps to 'superhornet's ipad' (step 6 of 6)
    copying 1 of 8: asphalt 8
    and later 'finished syncing'
but after syncing is finished on itunes. A message appears on the ipad saying '14 items could not be synced. see itunes for more information'
there is no message in the itunes that would tell what issue happened here.
Due to this, the games i mentioned above does not get installed on my ipad. all i get is their greyed out icons which shows their name below them, when i touch any of those greyed icons they start showing 'installing' which never really completes.
I have also tried to install apps by ifunbox, but it showed some error when i tried to sync those games.
This issue doesn't happen with all the games. I had also downloaded games like 'the sandbox, ACR drift, shadow gun and they were installed without any issues.
I had never played any game on my ipad. so far i had only used it as an ebook reader, video player and internet browser. so i have no idea if this problem existed before.
and yes my computer is authorized, and i successfully sync all videos, music, ebooks with it.
    my PC's specs:
    AMD phenom II X4 B25
    4GB RAM DDR3 133MHz
    AMD radeon HD6770 1GB GDDR5
    Gigabyte GA78LMT-S2P
my ipad is running iOS 7.1
and itunes version is 11.2.2.3 (updated yesterday expecting it would solve the issues)
I would appreciate if anyone could help me with this

Found another thread with a few possible solutions. The one that worked for me was to delete the ipod photo cache in the "Pictures" folder. Here's the thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3390697

  • IPad 3 syncing issue on iOS6 - "You do not have the privilege to make changes"

I have updated my ipad 3  to iOS6 and now it is coming up with the following warning message when i try to sync "The iPad cannot be synced. You do not have the privilege to make changes" also it is not recognised wirelessly under devices, I have to connect with the usb cable.
I am having a similar issue on my iPhone 4s as well - this IS recognised wirelessly but has the saming warning message.
Both devices are updated to iOS6 and i am running iTunes 11.0.1
    Any help or advice????
    Thanks,

Finally managed to get this sorted, i noticed that it was at the point of the photos backing up i was getting the warning message so decided to try a few things,
What worked was holding down the option key and clicking on Aperture/iPhoto this gives you the option to select the library you want to choose from on your drive/external drive, i clicked the default one and reloaded Aperture.
Then i simply closed and re-opened itunes and it found the iPad wirelessly(still not sure why doing this on Aperture helped with this problem) then hit sync and everything worked OK.
I had changed nothing previously so unsure what started the issue whether it was iOS 6 or just an issue on my Mac but either way all works fine so i'm happy.

  • Help! iPad calendar sync issues with Exchange server

Hello, I've googled this issue and haven't come across with any definitive answer so I'll put it up here to see if anyone have any idea(s).
iPad 3G/Wifi working fine for over a month (firmware 3.2.1) synching with MS Exchange server (only Mail account on the device), over the weekend, calendar entries have disappeared. I've deleted the mail profile and reset it up again, here's what happens, email starts to pull down, same with contacts and Calendar entries, then while Calendar App is open on Month view I can see that the appointments are also being sync then after about a minute, all the entries will just disappear, if I wait a few more minutes, the appointments will start to repopulate again then disappear again after about a minute! Email and contacts are fine, just this Calendar issue.
More background data: User is using an iMac with Entourage 2008, his EA has full email rights to his mailbox and have his email profile on Outlook 2003, both are showing correct Calendar entries on desktop, have also checked the account on OWA and it looks fine there as well.
I'm guessing a corrupt calendar entry (possibly re-occuring appointment)... Does any one have any other thoughts?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks!!!

I have been having very similar issues to those described by Imola.  The calendar appears to try to load, and a few appointments may show up, but then they will all (or almost all) dissapear.  My company uses Exchange 2003.
Occassionally, deleting a large attachement has helped.  But not always.  Several times in the past, I have exported all my calendar entries as a .csv file, deleted all the calendar entries in Outlook, and then re-imported the .csv file.  While this always works to re-populate my calendar, it also strips functionality (like recurring appointments).
This is very frustrating, and results in me havinging to rely on my Blackberry while traveling, when I would like to just trust the data in the iPad.  A web search clearly shows that many people have this issue, but I have not yet seen any direct responses from Apple.  I hope this is addressed soon.

  • IPad / iPhoto sync issue post update

Applied update last night when prompted by iTunes. Went without a hitch until first sync. I get an error (will have to look again to get exact details, something cannot be found or a similar error).
Dismissed dialog and all seemed fine until I noticed no pics had transferred.
Tried a restore and same issue. I CAN sync a folder of images to it, just not via iPhoto.
Running Snow Leopard and latest iLife, all patched up to date.
    Ideas?

I have the same problems with syncing iphotos to iPod Touch and the iPad. Removing the Cache Solves the Problem only for One Time. All in iTunes selected Events or Albums etc. Are being replaced completely. It's like doing it for the first time (erased from mobile device and then tranfered again) and takes quite some time. At the next sync the problem returns. It seems to me that iPhoto remembers what has been transferred to ANY mobile device and ignores the photos when syncing to a different device. Please keep working on this issu - its very annoying.
The ipod photo cache shows when you right click on your iphoto library and select "paketinhalt anzeigen". Sorry, I only use the german version.
One thing I noticed is while syncing photos via iTunes, iTunes is trying to adapt the photos that are not working twice.

  • IPad & iPod sync issues with new iTunes

    Since the latest iTunes update,
    1. My iPad Mini won't allow me to swap out TV episodes. I routinely change what episodes to carry around with me. It will add and remove mp4 video files without a problem. One time I even saw a download progress bar as it transferred episodes over, or so I thought.
    2. Syncing my iPod Touch never used to be a problem. Now it takes a long time (delays during waiting for items to copy), and I cannot seem to bring songs I purchased on the device over into Windows. It used to do it before the main syncing.  I tried to download the new songs from the iTunes Store but it halted and says the following:
"There was a problem downloading -name of song-. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again."
What's going on? I really need to bring these songs over to my hard drive.
    Thanks for your help.

Well its simple. Just go to your finder and search for iphone. You will find a backup folder. But, you should just be able to restore your iphone. Then after restore it will ask which backup your will like to use. Then in the drop down menu select your phones name and it should restore all contacts, text messages and notes as well as bookmarks. It worked fine for me until I used iFuntastic and Apptap. I guess it alterd the backup file and deleted all my notes. So, unless you have "hacked" your phone it should restore and re enter your info fine.

  • ITunes and iPad 4 sync issues

After I have watched and deleted a video, if I do so on my iPhone or iPod touch when I sync then the blue circle disappears showing the video has been watched.
However, on my new iPad 4, when I have watched and deleted a video, when I sync with iTunes the blue circle doesn't disappear and the video is still showing as un-watched.
    Any ideas ?
I am running Windows 7 and the latest version of iTunes and iOS on the iPad.

  • HT4191 iPad Mini Sync issues?

    Hi,
I have just got an iPad Mini (32gb) 6.0.2 & I would like to sync this with my iPhone 4s (16gb) 6.0.1. Having tried 'sync over Wi-Fi', etc nothing seems to work & all I have been able to sync is my photo stream. Please could somebody offer some help.
    Many Thanks

Probably not computer related... (If I understand correctly that you are trying to sync an iPad with a computer).
Try resetting the iPad (hold the home and power keys down until the Apple logo appears).

  • IPad/iTunes syncing issue - went from 25 free GB to 4 GB

when syncing both my iPad 2 and iPad mini (both 64 GB) both went from 25 free GB to 4 GB.  The "other" category is 22 GBs.  How do I free up the space and/or determine what's in the "other" category taking up so much space?

It seems like double the size of the app is needed to install it on the device.

  • Mac/iPad Match Sync Issue

My Mac and iPad OS/iOS are up to date. I've run Match several times so I presume it is up to date. However, I cannot get my iTunes libary to properly sync on my iPad. I have edited and added playlists that will not show up on iPad.

    My OS is actually 10.10.2.

  • Advise needed - MS Office 2010 & Sync Issues

My iPad 2 continues to refuse to sync contacts and calendars (also my iPhone!) with Office/Outlook
Apple Support have been unable help.
I am now considering moving to Windows 7 64-bit.  In addition I am looking to move from Office 2003 to 2010.  ie a total upgrade in the hope that this resolves the iPad/iPhone sync issues!
Looking around it seems that I should install iTunes 64-bit version to match the Windows 7 64-bit and only put the full version of Office 2010 32-bit to ensure successful sync?  Or should put 32-bit iTunes with 32-bit Office?
    Does this match your experiences?
    Any suggestions on succesful combinations?
Any advise would be much appreciated - Thanks.

    Hi,
To overcome this possible issue, users can install ms office compatibility pack via following link. With this pack installed you are able to open office documents from 2007 and higher in lower versions.

  • More Aperture/iPad syncing issues

Each time I create a new project or album in Aperture, I have trouble getting the images to the iPad when I sync. I sometimes need to sync several times until the images are recognized and imported to iPad. I do have the albums designated manually, rather than all, which means I have to sync and then sync again after I check the checkbox for the new album. I understand that, but sometimes I have to go back into Aperture to make sure the previews are updated. If I choose to update the previews for a project, Aperture will usually tell me that they're already up to date, but often they will not show up on the iPad, even after I check the appropriate box for the album in iTunes. Sometimes I get good results if I delete the previews and regenerate them in Aperture.
The second problem is the sort order. Even if I have "sort by filename" selected in Aperture, they do not show up in this order on the iPad--despite what the support article says about this. They appear to only show up in Date order. I've tried repeatedly resetting the sort order, but it does not change on the iPad. Sometimes I have to delete the album from the iPad, (uncheck the album in iTunes and sync again), then recheck it and sync yet another time. This does not always work, however.
It is very frustrating. The interface between Aperture and the iPad is very wonky. I often have to sync repeatedly, just to get the photos on the iPad and even then they're usually in the wrong order.
Aperture appears to have two types of previews: "previews" and "sharing previews," but "sharing previews" don't seem to appear in the documentation. I've noticed that, even when Aperture says the previews are up to date, when I exit the program, it will sometimes (but, maddeningly, not always), give the message, "updating sharing previews" before quitting. I cannot figure out how to force this, however. Sometimes opening and closing Aperture several times will cause it to do this, but I can't be sure.
iTunes seems to have its own process in which it "optimizes" images for importing to the iPad. Like Aperture's mysterious "sharing previews," "optimizing" does not show up in the iTunes documentation or help files.
This process either needs to be improved, or at least documented so users can understand how to avoid these problems.

    1. Some people have reported slow syncing with anything but the iPad's own USB cable (e.g. using a US cable from an iPhone/iPod). Try different cables
    2. More work - disable iTunes syncing completely, then re-enable a bit at a time, e.g. one movie at a time, one playlist at a time, one photo album at a time. There are periodic reports of syncing issues caused by a bit of media that's been corrupted, and this (tedious) approach allows you to identify where the problem might be.
    3. If that fails, do a clean restore back to factory settings, then progressively re-enable syncing as above.
    Hope this helps

  • Like many others, I got the new iPad 3 and couldn't sync all of my photos.  The best i got was 1,000 out of 15,000 to work.  Today Apple released iTunes 10.6.1.7 and said the syncing issue was resolved.  I erased my ipod cache and hit sync.  Still locked.

Like many others, I got my new IPad 3 and could not sync all of my photos.  The highest I got was 1,000 out of 15,000.  Today Apple released iTunes 10.6.1.7 that , among other things, said it fixed the sync issue with photos.  I excitedly, erased my ipod cache and hit sync.  It looked like it was working, but just like before iTunes locked.  This time at 2,244 of 15,000.  Anybody have an idea of how to fix this?

What's the capacity of your iPad?
iTunes needs up to 3x of the actual size of the files you want to sync during the sync process. And syncing 15.000 photos could cross the size of the available free space on your device.
Don't forget that the pictures are now optimized for the retina display, so the size increases for each of them.
