IPad a/v output to hdtv

I have connected a digital a/v adapter to my iPad (3), and connected an hdmi cable between the adapter and an hdmi port on my LG HDTV (it's a working port - the cable has been in use with a dvd player). When I press the Output button on the TV remote the port (HDMI1) is grayed out. Has anyone had or solved this issue?

The picture above shows you where to change mirroring. In the bottom left corner of the Displays system preferences, it says Mirror Displays.

I know the tv is getting a signal from the comp. as I have that goofy grey mat and can drag things to my tv from comp. COOL - but no A/v
You obviously have audio/video (a/v) because you can see the video (you said you can see yourself dragging things there) and probably hear the audio. What are you trying to play through the TV? For example, if it's a DVD, drag the DVD player to the TV and play it full screen. If it's a Youtube video, drag the browser window to the TV and play it full screen. If you do it that way, there's no need to mirror.

  • Ipad 2 & HDMI output quality

Attached the HDMI connector to the Ipad 2. Output to the TV/Monitor fine. Quallity of picture is very good. One problem. Noted a "green line" going down each side of the entire monitor screen. Unattach the Ipad 2 HDMI connector the line goes away. Very annoying. Any ideas?

Yeah, i have the same problem...using the hdmi output a green fuzzy area in the bottom of the screen, kind of big, not just an line.
Im using an Scarlet LG TV with 720p screen resolution.

  • Viewing FCP output on HDTV-Suggestions Please?

    Hey All
I have FCP 6.0.6 and Ive been trying to view the output on an HDTV with a Canopus AVAC-100
(yeah its older) I can see it -but it wont play --I have All frames checked and the footage is a
SD output. The video is just froze on the TV.
Am I missing something? Is there something I have to fix in FCP or just breakdown and buy a new
    Matrox MXO2 Mini ??
    Matt

Your Canopus device does not work with HDV.
To monitor HDV in native form, you need a different device to convert the signal from the computer to the monitor.
If you have a MacPro, the least expensive card solution is the BlackMagic Intensity. More expensive are cards from AJA (the Kona Series) and BlackMagic (Decklink)
The Matrox MX02 can be used as long as you have a spare slot for the connection card (can be a MacPro PCIe or a MacBookPro Expresscard34)
The Matrox MXO is connected via a DVI port to drive a second monitor (as long as the monitor is a 23" ACD or 24" Dell).
If you don't want to purchase any devices, FCP6 and up has a setting that will downconvert the HDV timeline to DV for output via firewire. This doesn't show you a very accurate image.

  • MacPro, BlackMagic Intensity Pro video card and output to HDTV

    Hello folks,
I purchased an Intensity Pro card a little while back, but haven't actually gotten to use it. I captured most of my video material through firewire. I have a MacPro and I'd like to view photos from iPhoto, renders of my 3D work and possibly stream Netflix to my HDTV. Both of my DVI outputs from my ATI Radeon card feed my two desktop cinema Displays, leaving the DVI output from the Intensity Pro card open. Before I go an buy a DVI to HDMI adapter from Apple I want to know if the Intensity Pro DVI port only works if I'm in editing mode with Final Cut or Adobe Premiere or will it output anything at anytime as it it was just another graphics card?
Thanks so much for any help,
    Brian

    hi,
ihave bought it and am using it with my quadcore g5 2.5 ..
for now i switched back to canopus because its much more stable and not
"touchy" when i jump around in the timeline...
but this may have a lot of other reasons ..
with finalcut its very nice ans stable, i think the drivers have been written
to be compatible with fcp rather than logic.
I wantd to have the picture for an HD Movie in Llogic but now i prfe to have
    stability,
    bets regards,

  • Does Garageband for iPad support audio output over Airplay?

Since I don't currently have an Airplay output device on my network, I can't tell if Garageband supports this. Anyone know?
    Thanks.

When the iPad or iTunes is sending music/video to an AirPlay Output device, it is actually sending the music/video file over to that device to play rather then just sending 2 channels of audio.
For this reason, GarageBand would be a difficult task asnit would need to send up to 10 files (8 tracks and 2 effects) over the network to play in perfect sync.
For this reason, garageBand would not be stable and you would have a large amount of drag.

    Hi
I have just bought a Lightning to HDMI lead to use with my iPad Air, but the output doesn't fill my TV screen - it's just 4:3. I know the resolution of the iPad is 4:3, but I thought that the output would fill my TV. Can anyone help?

  • Audio Output to HDTV

I have connected my MBP to a Sharp Aquos HDTV. For the audio I am using a cable from Radio Shack with an 1/8" plug (at the MBP) and 2 RCA plugs connected to the TV. There is a hissing/scratching noise coming from the TV speakers. This noise is not present from the MBP speakers at other times. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Mac Book Pro   Mac OS X (10.4)

Switch the audio output to the maximum output volume, or go out and get a mini toslink optical cable. It will cost more, but it is a digital output, and it has a mini optical 1/8 inch output to plug into the MBP, and then a regular optical connector on the other end. It is digital so it will sound better and then will have surround sound.

  • Best Output to HDTV and Computer?

I just got a Micro four thirds cameras that takes 720 HD movies in avi besides regular stills in 12mb.  What is the best Share output when I want to play on an HDTV? (I have a 1080 but do not have a Blu-ray burner in my computer; only a DVD burner)??

Alan, are you using a camera like the Panasonic Lumix GF1? That camera records video in one of the following formats: AVCHD-Lite or Motion JPEG.
I think what Alan is attempting to do it to burn the AVCHD Lite files onto a standard DVD and playing back 720 HD resolution on certain BluRay players such as the Sony Playstation's BluRay.
That said, I don't believe Alan's Premiere Elements version 4 supports AVCHD editing or burning and the improvement in quality you may be seeing Alan could be the upconversion to near HD quality that most BluRay players will do with standard definition material.
I think you are correct though that AVCHD footage can be burned to standard DVD's and played back in 720 HD resolution on certain BluRay players.
I'm rather out of my depth on high definition so Steve or John, please feel free to step in and correct my info if it is incorrect.

  • IPad digital audio output

I just realized that we can get the digital audio output from iPad 2 by connecting the camera connection kit, via the USB cable to a digital converter. The sound quality is unbelievable good. That's mean we can save the money of not buying any dock e.g. Wadia 170i.

Hey Mitch, I have a related question that it looks like you may be able to help me with.
I would like to use an Ipad (not purchased yet) to connect with an external audio solution.
So I need to run out through the Lightning Digitial AV converter to get the digital audio to my external DAC.  Then I run Optical out to my amp.
My goal is to be able to watch Videos on the iPad while listening to the audio through external speakers.
It currently appears that when you connect the iPad via the Lightning Digital AV converter and attempt to watch a Video, that the video and audio signal gets sent to the external reciever and the iPad screen goes blank and becomes a "remote control" but no longer displays the video.  I noticed that this is only with video because the iPad screen does not go blank for games or browsing.
Are you aware of an app....or any other solution that allows my solution to work?
To date, I have tried this solution with multiple tablets and the only one that it works on (that actually mirrors Video) while exporting digital audio is the Kindle Fire HD.
I can't believe this is an original idea and am shocked that Apple doesn't enable you to leave the video on the iPad screen while also sending the video and audio signal to an external source.
    Thanks

  • IPad 2 HDMI output no longer works since iOS 6 was installed

    Hi everyone,
    I need some help here,
I have a pretty old HD TV equipped with HDMI input ports, I was able to use my iPad 2 to do Video mirroring or anything else for that matter while the iPad 2 was operation with iOS 5.1.1, since I upgraded to the iOS 6 I'm no longer able to see the ipad home screen or videos like, Netflix, YouTube, basically anything my ipad was displaying, not my TV doesn't even detects a signal.
Are there any useful information that yous can share, I'm going crazy here as my two young kids want to watch their favorite show on Netflix through the big TV.
This has caused some discomfort and I wish I can find some help to fix it.
    I appreciate your help.

I have an ipad 2 running ios 6.0.1 and an older Dell TV (1080i) and have always been able to mirror.  Running ios 5 the mirroring worked perfectly for sound and video.  Don't remember if I tried while running 5.1.  Now that I have 6.0.1, I can still mirror, but the whole screen is pink on this Dell TV.  When I make the connection from ipad to the tv, mirroring starts immediately and the notification bar on the ipad home screen pulsates from blue to black and the cable is detected.  I have sound and video working fine except for the colors.  The ipad detects the AV Composite cable under settings>about but there is no TV out setting under General Settings where I'm supposed to see TV OUT listed under iTunes Wi-Fi sync.  I have changed the hdmi to a new one, but it didn't help.  I also have a new Panasonic Viera tv and everything (with the same cables) works perfectly on that TV.  Leads me to believe it's an issue with the TV OUT function of the ipad.  I don't know if any of this is helfpul information, but I thought it might help you narrow down what is going on with your setup.

  • Very poor quality HDMI output to HDTV

I recently decided to switch from an Apple TV to Mac Mini for my media center.
I have an Insignia HDTV and the quality from the Apple TV was outstanding. When I plug the Mac Mini in, however, it is EXTREMELY poor. The picture appears blocky & pixelated.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Have you tried adjusting the resolution in System Preferences/Displays?
