Ipad accidentally disabled, but I know my password.
I have an Ipad mini which is connected to a bluetooth keyboard. I accidentally left the keyboard on and now my IPad is disabled and displaying "connect to itunes". So I tried to connect however it said it could not connect because there is a passcode lock. I know what my pass code is but there is no place to enter it in. Is there a way to just enter in my password to unlock it so i don't have to restore it?
No. You will have to put it into recovery mode and restore it.

Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Recently, I changed my passcode on my 2nd generation Ipod touch. When I put it in, it wouldn't take it and it was disabled. I tried my old passcode the next day and it worked. About 3 days ago, I had to change my passcode again. The Ipod wouldn't take my new code or my old one, so it was disabled again. I ended up having to reset my Ipod. Now my texting app and Twitter app are gone and I can't put them back on, even when I backed them up, can anyone help me with that? That was the first probelm. Yesterday, I put a passcode on my reset Ipod and it wouldn't take the code again. Why is this happening, how can I get my apps back, and how can I prevent this from happening again?
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

You don't get another chance once it has been permanently disabled. You have to restore it now. If you backup with iCloud, you can restore from that backup and recover everything. If you don't backup with iCloud, you are starting all over again.
If you don't have a computer, you can restore with another computer running iTunes.

My son tried to many times when I was away on my ipad and it is now disabled. I know the password but cannot get in to type it. unfortunitly my computer that is is backup on died yesterday do I dont have a clean backup for it. i would like to try to aviod a total wipe and clean if its possible. This saved the day for me, as I had not backed my Ipad up in over a year so I would have lost everything with a restore. My 5 year old disabled my Ipad by entering the wrong code repeatedly - so it was rather frustrating that I was unable to enter the passcode on the pad itself once it was disabled...thank goodness for the keyboard. I now have the Ipad set to back up automatically in case I have ever do have to wipe it and start over.

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

Nothing until you get back to the computer. The device has to be put in recovery mode if using a different computer's itunes, that will delete everything from the device, leaving it as new. But then you'd have to find a computer to do this with.

Save yourself some time, try the steps in the first article, which is what Apple Support will have you try anyways if you call. Also, instead of calling the number provided, just go to getsupport.apple.com, follow the steps, and schedule a call. That way, you can go about your day, and have Apple generate an automatic call, direct from an Apple Advisor, instead of you waiting on hold.
