IPad Advanced printing issue

Hi, all, I work for a K-12 school and we are running into a crazy problem.
Problem: iPad isn't printing to a listed iPad compatible printer.
Scenario: On a vlan.  Using a Mac server as a print server.  iPad & Print server are on the same vlan (v1).  Printer is on a different vlan (v2).
Testing: From my computer, on the v1, I can print through the print server, to the printer on v2.
Originally, I was able to print from the iPad, on v1, through the print server, to the printer on v2.  After a couple of successful print jobs, I'm no longer able to print using the iPad.
Observations:  On successful printing, once you submit the print job from the iPad, the iPad creates a "Print Que" (which can be found if you hit the home button twice, the slide to the screen to the left of the home page).  Right now, when I submit a print job, I see no "Print Que".  It's almost like the iPad doesn't submit the print job.
General:  Yes, I have restarted the iPad, the print server, and the printer.  I've removed the printer, readded the printer, and even tried different print drivers.
Question:  What would cause the iPad to not create the Print Que?  Does anyone have any other suggestions?  Thanks for your help with this!
Kevin

Testing: From my computer, on the v1, I can print through the print server, to the printer on v2.
Originally, I was able to print from the iPad, on v1, through the print server, to the printer on v2.
After a couple of successful print jobs, I'm no longer able to print using the iPad.  I do not know why this worked nor why it failed.
I found that if we set up the iPAD, Print Server, and Printer on the same vlan, then everything prints just fine.  I assumed that the iPad would only communicate with the Print Server when it had a print job....Does the iPad communicate with the Printer directly?
What print server are we talking about?  I didn't think that the default Apple Print Server included the ability to communicate with the ipad about remote prints.
In general, the ipad talks directly to an airprinter via your wifi network.  The protocol isn't route-able so the printer has to be on the same local area network.  { What I do not know is what is the "same" lan. Is it same router or similar address like 192.168.1.x?  }
If you want to have the printer on a different lan you could:
-- buy extra software to make airprint protocol route-able.
-- install a printer server that understands airprint protocol to display a remote printer as a local printer.

  • IPad mini printing issues

Ok, So I am having some issues with printing from my ipad. I have a brother wireless printer which is not part of airprint. I understand that. I don't understand why I can't just choose a printer from my wireless network while I am in an app. Why is there nothing about printer settings in the settings area of the ipad? Also, I cant figure out any way to print my emails from the Mail App. I have downloaded the brother printer app, but dont understand why I cant choose the printer now when I am in Mail. All I want to do is print an email and I am literally pulling out my hair!

I found the print function when I touched the REPLY icon. (So NOT intuitive!!)   It then asked what printer I wanted to use.  And it worked...finally.

  • IPad Mini - Printing issues via AirPrint

We have two iPad minis at home, we have a Air Print compatible HP 3525 e-All-in-One.. Both the iPad minis are the same generation using the same iOS version 7.0.6 From one iPad mini I can print on the above airprint from the Notes app. However, from the other iPad mini I am not able to print to the same printer. So did the following checks
    a. both iPad connected to the same wireless network and they show equal signal strength and can browse the internet.
    b. both the ipad minis are connected to the 2.4Ghz network & so is the above printer.
    c. did the customary - forget network & reconnected to the network
    d. switched off the ipad (cold boot) and switched on.
Yet, if I print a document from one to the above printer it works in one & does not work from the other iPad.
Finally, used my IE experience with printing problems - then cleared the cookies, cache and web history - then it started to print again. I have to see if this is consistent - but was amused by the behavior.
Any thoughts, is there something else should I check ?

I found the print function when I touched the REPLY icon. (So NOT intuitive!!)   It then asked what printer I wanted to use.  And it worked...finally.

In the email you want to print, on the top right there is an arrow. Click that and an option should appear that says print. That should work. Have you already tried that?

  • Hp8600 b/W printing issue

When I print or copy I SELECT black unless I need color. Today I need to copy very important materials to mail, I am disabled, cannot run to the store, and I can't copy because the yellow is empty. Why is the yellow toner empty if I am selecting black and why is the black toner still full? I am sitting right here selecting black in the copy setup for the print job.

    Hey @Nwad59,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're needing to copy in black. However, you're not able to do so as your yellow ink cartridge is empty in your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you with this today.
When you perform a copy on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer and choose 'black copy' the printer will only use black ink to perform the copy. Also, when you choose 'colour copy' the printer will only use colour ink to perform the copy. However, when you print from any device and choose black the printer will use colour ink to enrich the black when printing. Therefore, your colour ink levels may go down with black print jobs from your computer or other devices.
You can adjust this setting on your computer to set the printer to 'use black ink only' when printing. Therefore, the colour ink will not be used unless you're specifically printing in colour. If you're using an Ipad to print from you can load the HP ePrint Home and Biz app : Getting Started with HP ePrint Mobile Apps and that should provide you with the ability to specify colour, black only or greyscale printing.
Unfortunately at this time, because your printer is in a 'depleted yellow' error state, you will need to replace your yellow cartridge to continue using the printer. Even if you only want to perform black copies, the yellow will need to be replaced as your printer is in an error state at this time and will not perform any function until that error state is cleared.
Please let me know if this information clears up any confusion about ink usage. Once you replace your yellow cartridge, should you have any issues setting the printer to 'black ink only' I will be more than happy to guide you through those steps. Best of luck!

  • Print issue with Photoshop CS4 and Officejet 6500

I have a Windows 7 Business 64 bits desktop computer. After  installing the Officejet Pro 6500 multifunctional drivers all was  working OK. Images were being printed nice and with the correct size  using Windows print option. After installing Adobe CS4 suite, all images  printed from windows or Photoshop have incorrect size (photoshop prints  it smaller, about 33%, and on upper left corner of the sheet).
Photoshop sucks but Illustrator print fine. The only way I can print  at the good size in Photoshop, it's when I select Microsoft XPS  document writer as printer and print from there... Not very user friendly !!!
And  yes, it was always the HP Officejet 6500 E709n fax selected by default  by Photoshop instead of  HP Officejet 6500 E709n !
Is anybody can say if it's an HP issue or an Adobe issue ??? Why Illustrator print fine and Photoshop don't ???
    Thank's  in advance.

Deleting the fax printer  associated with this device to allows correct printing is not an  acceptable alternative for me.
If it is a printer issue, why I can print correctly from Illustrator ???

Or: you can go into windows and select a default printer or then the one you use to print with in PS. Then when you are ready to print in PS select the printer. See if that works.
That's my normal configuration then I can't change nothing when all is ok.
Thank you very much for your answer ! Maybe anybody have an other solution or explanation.
    Thank's for your patience.

  • Adobe Reader X - Print Issues

Hi - I've searched the forums for a likely answer but came up with a blank.
We have updated to Adobe Reader X and when we print a pdf, the actual words print as a series of randon numbers and letter. We print to an HP Photosmart All in One Printer. However when we print to a Cannon Printer, it's OK. Can anyone throw light on this for us as it's proving to be a nightmare.
    Cheers

Thanks v much Twilight - once I had posted the question I saw the same issues were posted by another.
I'll try the print as image under the advanced print tab and see how I get on with that. Hopefully Adobe will bring out a fix soon.
    Thanks again.

  • Multiply filter in illustrator with a 2 color job-pdf and print issues?

    Hi,
Encountering a tricky problem and not sure if its an InDesign fix or an Illustrator fix.
I am working on a 2 color job—pms color + black on a book cover. The cover needs to seperate into these 2 colors.
Also, I need to make a high res and lowres pdf that look like the cover to send out to marketing, sales etc.
    WHAT's THE PROBLEM?...
Well, I am creating a collage with black ink vector graphics on top of the pms background. I created this art in illustrator CS3. it is saved as an .eps file. The illos were done by someone who used a white fill to knock out black areas. There is also a wide 50% grey outline around the illustration.
I like the idea of the line of the illo being black and the fill being red so that it looks seethrough on the red background. But the 50% grey outline causes a problem...I'd like the 50% outline to blend with the red color, so instead of appearing like there is white in the ink it overprints.
The only way I could think of (and quickest way) was to apply the multiply filter in illustrator to the vector illo. This seemed to work great.
I brought the illo into InDesign CS3 where I created my cover layout.
Looks great, Prints great. Separations appear to be good, although it shows the yellow, cyan, and majenta layer they appear to be blank, so I think it will seperate nicely into 2 plates–PMS + black.
BUT, when I make a pdf, using "smallest file size" or using "high quality print", the pdf it makes does not show the illustrations in the collage. They are kind of beige and dulled out. The publisher needs pdfs too.
Does this at all indicate that this job will not print correctly using this multiply filter, or is it all well and good final product wise, but its just an issue making the pdf? I am slightly nervous I am going to send this off to the printer and they will have some issue.
I am a professional designer of 10 years with lots of print experience, but I have never used multiply in illustrator so I just want to make sure there is no rule against doing this I should know about. Does multiply at all mess with the color separations or is it fine? And how do I get my pdf to come out right? I'm hoping there's some dumb thing I'm forgetting, or a simple fix.
Thanks for any insight you may have!
    L.

If you don't feel comfortable using Multiply you might want to communicate with the printer and ask if this is an issue for them to reproduce correctly. Some printers using older rips may have issues with transparency. If you can't speak directly with your printer you could mark up the file or make a PDF to accompany the working file with your comments about what prints at what percentage, and if it should overprint or knockout. Years ago I would get a file with transparency in it and have to make sure the designers intent was clear. This was in some cases due to the designer not understanding blend modes or what he/she wanted overprinting or knocking out in the printed piece. The other way you can confirm the separations are going to rip correctly is to print a PDF out of Indesign and open it in Acrobat pro. Under Advanced>Print Production>Output Preview you can turn on and off separations for the 2 spot colors in question. Because PDF acts as your rip in this case you should be seeing what separations your printer will be printing using your native Indesign file. Some print shops will require you to provide a PDF or a color laser print out for QA of your printed piece when sending files to prepress.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • PostScript settings in Reader XI causing print issue

    Greetings,
I have one user on one PC unable to print from Reader XI.  When I log in, printing is normal...both users are local administrators.  The only difference I can see is in Reader's Advanced print settings; the problem user has PostScript Options available, where normal printing seems to pull the settings from a printer or print driver automatically (greyed out and unavailable).  It is as if something is overriding the default behavior for this user only.  I have tried defaulting the printer options, reinstalling Reader XI with no progress.  Does anyone know what user specific setting might be causing this behavior?
Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I appreciate the suggestion... however I don't think the driver is the issue because I can send the same .pdf job from the same PC to the same IP printer OK.  It is only one user having the issue... his job from Reader is never sent, spooled, nothing.  The Problem User is able to print from all other apps OK.  This is why I asked about user specific settings affecting Reader's ability to communicate with the print driver on a user specific basis.
Maybe I wasn't clear about the issue.  Again; same print driver, same ip printer, same PC, same file, different user, different PostScript Options state in Reader - Print - Advanced, different result.   Problem User's PostScript Options are not greyed out by default, not printing from Reader at all regardless of PostScript Options manually selected.
What could be preventing Reader from automatically pulling those default (greyed out) settings, on the individual user profile level, from a printer that is otherwise printing fine from Reader for other users on the same machine?
    Thanks again

  • Brand New iPad Mini WiFi ISSUES

So I bought my iPad Mini 32gb a week ago and I've been using it eversince with my house's wifi. I recently updated it to iOS 6.1.3 and a couple of days after I started having WiFi issues. So I connect to my wifi and use it as usual, but after 5 minutes of using it the internet stops working eventhough it still shows the 3 bars of internet on the top left corner next to iPad. To fix this I have to turn off my iPad every time. I am trying to see if there is a solution or if I will have to send it to the apple repair center or change it for a new one for 40 bucks. I really need internet on it so please help. ( IT IS URGENT.)

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Illustrator: Transparency/masked image printing issue

I edited an image in photoshop. The image was masked then set to grayscale in Photoshop and then "Placed" into Illustrator where I'm working in CMYK mode.
The background color in Illustrator is set to  0 0 0 100K.  When I print the artwork, the masked area of the image (Which is transparent showing my background color) prints blacker than the backgound color of the whole artwork.  When I went in with the eyedropper to read the CMYK value in masked area, it reads 75 68 67 90 where as it should read the background CMYK value 0 0 0 100K.  This explains why it prints different intensity of blacks.  I then went in to View -> Proof Colors to see what the printer should see, but the image looks perfectly fine there.  So can anyone explain to me what I can do to fix this issue?  Is this a known problem with Placing the image into an illustrator rather than opening it in illustrator, or it's only a printer issue?
    Thanks in Advance.
Image attached in "Proof Color" View

    Preferences -> Appearance of Black.
Set those both to Accurately. I don't know why they default to rich blacks when that's not always what is used. I would think most users would perfer to see ACCURATE colors.

  • Address printing issue in SAPSCRIPT

    Hi All,
I am getting address printing issue in address in sapscript .
Here is my address format in the script.
/: ADDRESS DELIVERY PARAGRAPH ZA LINES 10
    /:    TITLE                &KNA1-ANRED&
    /:    NAME               &KNA1-NAME1&,  &KNA1-NAME2&,  &KNA1-NAME3&,  &KNA1-NAME4&
    /:    STREET            &ADRC-STREET&
    /:   LOCATION        &ADRC-STR_SUPPL1
    /:   POBOX             &KNA1-PFACH&  CODE  &KNA1-PSTL2&
    /:   POSTCODE       &KNA1-PSTLZ&

    /:  COUNTRY          &KNA1-LAND1&
    /:  FROMCOUNTRY &T001-LAND1&
    /: ENDADDRESS
Here in the above code I had added LOCATION and modified the STREET field value.
Moved the changes to QAS server along with the driver program., confirmed all the related transports are moved.
While testing in QAS , i noticed that after LOCATION print I am getting blank space and then the remaining fields are printed.
    For example:
         casa velas boutique hotel
         Attn:  Marie John
         AV.  cocoterosss
        63550 Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit,
        MEXICO.
In the above example the third line the LOCATION data.
The surprise here is that I am not getting blank space in DEV , I had checked all the transports, and all are ok.
Please advice me where I am wrong, ie why i am getting blank space in QAS whereas it not showing in DEV.
    Thanks in advance.
    Vengal Rao.

    Hi Jay,
I fully agree with you that the address printed will be as per SAP standards.
Currently I am looking into the country configuration in DEV - I hope may be the reason,
I have to use the existing ADDRESS....ENDADDRESS format as our client is using  4.6 version,  he just print the financial reports using the common script.
So anything away from the orginal one may lead to more trouble in other reports.
Once I get a reason behind the issue, I shall definetly post them.
    Thanks,
    Vengal Rao.

I've an issue in printing one of the forms. I'm using bullets in the form and when I see the print preview, i can see the bullets.
But when I print the document, instead of bullets, I see '#'. Is it something to do with the printer drivers or anything I can do and prevent it.

Infact it is a printer issue.
