IPad Air 2 Cellular battery problems - fixed?

please excuse me if this is a little long, I've been through quite a bit................
my friends girlfriend was selling a brand new iPad Air 2 16GB Wi-Fi & Cellular on all networks.
I was in two minds whether I was going to buy it, I did own an Apple iPad Mini Wi-Fi that I used pretty much all the time.....
I went ahead and bought it, more than 50% off Apple's prices, I was happy.
I used it straight away with my nano sim but noticed there were a few problems...
1: the battery would drain very quick.
2: every so often I got "popping noises".
3: the battery would jump down 2/3%.
it was still under warranty so I decided to make an appointment with the genius bar after speaking to advisor's through the Apple support.
I went to my local Apple store and the employee said to rule out hardware problems, he'd replace the whole device.
I was happy, I thought that was the end....
NO. it was just the start....
it was on iOS 8.1.2 when I got the replacement, I immediately updated to the latest which was 8.2 - yes; 8.3 is out now.
I was still having issues, there was no popping noises but the battery was also terrible.
after hours of reading on the Internet and through the Apple communities; I finally figured it out!
at first, I thought it was my wireless messing up so I changed the router - still had the same problem.
I read online about battery calibration, I didn't really know how it worked until I read more.
as of right now, it seems to be much better after I done the calibration on iOS 8.3....
it's been on for 3 hours and 40 minutes and it's now at 88%.
(when I say on, the screen is on and LIT - Wi-Fi is on and auto lock NEVER)
I have seen a few others having problems with their battery too.
what I did was let it drain completely. waited 30 minutes after it shut down and switched it back on, it said 2% but drain and turned off straight away!
I left it and went to bed knowing it was completely flat. I woke up, tried to turn it on - yep, was flat. I pressed and held the home button and power button, I got a flashing battery. awesome...(just to make sure!)
charged it all night, woke up and it was at 100%! left it for a few hours at 100% and then tried my testing again.
seems to be great now and holding it's charge very good!
3 hours 50 minutes and at 88%.
if my math would be correct, to hit 0% it should be on 30+ hours.

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight.  Do NOT use an iPod/iPhone charger.  Do NOT use a computer's USB port.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know.  If the above test does, in fact, indicate a problem, read this.
Also, according to Apple:
Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

There are many people using the basic (i5) 2012 MacMini and even older ones to edit complex films in FCP X so you should have no problems.
I have been using FCP 7 and FCP X since they came out on my 2008 iMac Core 2 Duo and am thinking of getting the same model as you rather than pay the astronomic price for a new 27" iMac.
The performance won't be quite as fast but it will be at least 4 times faster at rendering than my old iMac.

  • Can I use the sim from my iphone 5c in the ipad air wifi cellular?

Can I use the sim from my iphone 5c in the ipad air wifi+cellular?

Both the iPad Air and iPhone 5C use a nano-SIM. Physically, they will work, but your operator may have some restriction. You should check with them.

  • Ipad air with cellular can be used with any carrier anywhere in the world?

Currently i'm in the US for business, I want to buy the new ipad air with cellular connection but i don't live in the US, can i use it with any carrier, anywhere in the world?

    Hi there,
You may find the information at the website below helpful.
    iPad Air
    http://www.apple.com/ipad-air/ultrafast-wireless/
Ready to take on the world.
iPad Air offers comprehensive support for fast networks around the world, and you don’t need a long-term contract. You can sign up for cellular connectivity only when you need it. Some cellular carriers even offer flexible shared plans that let you use the data service you already have. If you want a local connection when you’re traveling, iPad Air is ready. Just ask a local carrier about a short-term data plan, pop in a SIM card, and you’re ready to go.

  • I want to change Ipad Air wifi to Ipad Air wifi Cellular.

I have bought Ipad Air wifi but now I want Ipad Air Wifi + Cellular.. could I just go and ask to do it at Reception and Pay Extra money for it...?

If you purchased it within the past 14 days and you have the original sales receipt, then that is exactly what you would do. Bring it back for a refund, and then purchase the upgraded iPad.

  • Can an iPad Air with Cellular call?

i've got an iPad Air with Cellular and WiFi
Can i make phone calls without using FaceTime?

No. The iPad is not a Phone.  It cannot make Cellular calls.
Only internet based VOIP calls. There are several VOIP apps available in the store including Skype and Google Voice.

  • Will an ipad air with cellular purchased in the USA work in the UK?

If I buy an iPad air with cellular whilst on vacation in the USA will I be able to use a UK cellular provider when back in the UK?

This is tagged as answer but it's confusing me.
From experience, Apple will honour warranty regardless where you purchased the item. As long it has warranty life and the purchase was legit and registered.
Why would u say iPad with US cellular would not be covered abroad? Is it because the cellular provider initially selected during the purchase?
I'm seeing contradicting answers in this thread and you did not bother to explain your answer so I feel confused at the moment.
Another important question, you said it will never connect to 4G and LTE... Why do you make such claim? I have checked the LTE range from iPad specs section and LTE wiki page for UK..it seams that the US iPad does cover the LTE range of the UK. Not sure about other connection types though.
So please do explain your answer.

  • Safari will not open on my iPad Air...."Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server." There were recent updates on my iPad Air. How can I fix this problem?

How can I correct the issue of Safari not connecting on my iPad Air? It was working great 2 days ago.....now on September 20 it is not working! I have an internet connection but Safari will not open. "Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server."

    Hello Beckieor,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning network issues:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the above issues:
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • Apple Portugal refused to replace my iPad air anymore with fabrication problems. Need help from Apple Ireland

Hi, My english its not perfect but i'll try to explain my situation. I bought an iPad air with a problem in the monitor, yellow stains in the border with black screen and i went to an official apple repair in Portugal and they sent me for the third time an iPad with the same problem and with more problems like white graphics lines in the animation horizontal/vertical switch sides of the iPad view. At the fourth iPad that was sent with the same problem, Apple refused to replace for another iPad and said to me that was not their problem anymore and now I'm going to sue the company because nobody in Portugal can solve this situation in the costumer line. Im very sad with that, but i'm going till the end. I BOUGHT an iPad with FABRICATION PROBLEM and you guys don't care about to fix it. Thanks.
    What should i do more??

    crusherPT wrote:
Ok, but i can't find the email of apple ireland. Someone have it?? i can't make a phone call to their line because it's not free from Portugal.
Apple doesn't do support by email. All the contact information that is available can be found by using the Contact Us link at the bottom right of every page.
If the call is not free, you may need to pay to call them.

  • IPad Air (wifi + cellular) WITHOUT nano sim card

Just recently bought an iPad Air (64 GB, wifi + cellular; A1475) on eBay, brand new, except that the seller removed the Verizon nano sim card.  My questions:
What possible reason(s) would the seller have for only removing/keeping the nano sim card from the iPad?
I assume I won't have any problems getting a new/replacement nano sim card from Verizon when/if I sign up for service with them, correct?
From what I've briefly researched online, it seems as if even though the iPad Air is supposedly specifically for use with Verizon, I can actually obtain/use nano sim cards and service from other cellular providers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Spring), correct?  (See also here.)
FYI:  The iPad Air truly was/is brand new.  Never activated, never used (absolutely spotless).
Thanks in advance for any information/advice!
    Joel

AFAIK, the iPads are not carrier-locked, so IFF you need to have carrier-based Internet connectivity and are willing to pony up the cost, you should be able to get the SIM from the carrier giving you the best deal and live happily ever after.
That being said, I have a Wi-Fi+Cell iPad 4 purchased directly from Apple which has never felt a SIM card in its innards. Bought it instead of the Wi-Fi-only model cause I wanted the full GPS capability. And between the office (BIG 1 Gbps pipe to the Internet on our LAN) or at home (much more modest ADSL wireless router), been quite happy ignoring the No SIM onscreen warning. When not at home or the office and iPad use becomes indispensable, I simply tether it to my iPhone 5's Personal Hotspot and its 4G pipe to the Internet. Will NOT pay twice for the same shît.

    Hello,
After over the air update on my iPad Air 32Go : after 18Mo downloading from "Settings"/"Software Update" and automatic restart, suddenly a itunes logo appears...
So I plug it on my macbookpro and launch iTunes:  my iPad is détected a new empty ipad !!!: everything is disappeared ....
So I launch restore from backup file but a window appeared and said that some parameters are not compatible with iPad Air. !!!!
After selected continue button to launch restoring: after 5min ( very short when you have 29 Go of backup file of Nov 25 2013: see below !!! )
After auto restart, iPad Air is always empty as new !!!
So how to fix my iPadAir problem and restore it ?
    Thank You

  • Do I need to use my iphone5 Apple ID on my iPad Air W/cellular or create a new Apple ID

I have a Verizon Share everything plan 2 iPhones & a new iPad Air W/ wifi + cellular so I'm using the same Apple ID as my phone ,not my husbands it's different, I need to know how the 2 phones & the iPad should be set up ID wise? It's my iPad not my husbands but we are on the share plan so? Do I need different Apple ID 's for all devices ? And what about iCloud?   Same or different for each ? FaceTime, messages, giving me a fit. We're on same plan but 2 devices are mine so the information I send and receive doesn't need to go to his phone. Please advise me anyone. Thanks for any directs u share

So you don't want to share content between your own devices?   Lets forget about your husbands devices or a moment.  Your iPad and your iPhone will be completely separate?
Again Verizon has nothing to do with your Apple Id or Apps you download. Separate company, and it only provides the cellular service nothing more.  You can't store Apps from Apple App store in their cloud.
If  your husband buys an App, and you share the Apple Id for downloads you could potentially download that App if you wanted to for free, no extra purchase necessary.
Now if your iPhone and iPad have different Apple IDs to each other, then you can;t share the Apps on one to the other.  That is the Apps bought with the Apple Id on the iPhone would need to be bought again by the iPad Apple Id if you wanted to download them to it.
Other than that the recommended option is to have your devices have the same Apple ID but s still different to the one your husband uses.

  • How can I install whatsapp on my ipad air (wifi cellular)

I have a ipad air. Wants to install whatsapp for chatting with friends.
Pl confirm whether ipad air supports whatsapp and from where to download, as it is not in playstore

First, WhatsApp decides if they want to make the app compatible with iPad, not Apple. If you have a problem with that, talk to them.
Second, no, the iPad is not a phone so you can't regular voice calls. You can use other VOIP services like Skype.
I'm curious, if you needed to text and make voice calls, don't you think an iPhone would have been a better choice than an iPad?
