IPad air 2 randomly won't start

My iPad Air (iOS 8.1) once in a while won't start with either home button nor the on/off button. Only a hard reboot turns it on.
Anyone experiencing the same issue or has a solution?

Hi there ritjer,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below. It looks like you have already done most of the troubleshooting outlines, so you may want to start from step 5.
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

  • HT204291 The Wi-Fi was disconnected on iPad Air as soon as I started AirPlay Mirroring. Just happened in recent week.

The Wi-Fi was disconnected on iPad Air as soon as I started AirPlay Mirroring. Just happened in recent week. Is it happening to your device too?

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • IPad Air, iOS7 - Random Hanging Issue

I have this issue that seems to be happening more and more lately but is still random so I can't pinpoint it.  Has anyone experienced similar and perhaps know the underlying issue?
Using an iPad Air (128Gb) with latest iOS7, I have noticed issues where it seems the system just freezes for like 20-30 seconds.  For example, on the home screen you press "Settings", you then get the white screen with the vertical divider but no icons.  It just sits with the white background for 20-30 seconds, then everything appears as normal.  I have had this happen numerous times when going into settings to connect to a bluetooth device.  I have also seen similar when pressing an icon on the main screen, it darkens (registering the touch) then just sits.  Again 20-30 seconds later the app opens as expected and works fine.  I have stopped all apps, and shutdown/restarted the iPad a few times but this still occurs.  The problem is, it is random so not everytime you open settings does it do this.  So I'm having trouble pinpointing where the issue is coming from.  Any ideas?  I don't really want to do a restore as it does work fine for the most part.  I'm hoping that it is just a bug in iOS7 and that the next  update may correct it.

Realize this is old, but how many apps do you have installed?

  • My iPad Air crashed and won't restart after the blue screen of death. Can it be repaired in store, for how much and how long?

My iPad Air keeps on crashing and then a blue background would come up. To make the iPad restart I have been doing the hold-down-the-home-button-and-start-button-at-the-same-time technique.  It's been a short term fix. Recently this has been occurring more often, this time I didn't press anything and it just went black.
IM taking it to the Apple Store tomorrow I'm just wondering can it be repaired or will I have to buy a replacement or will I. Get a free replacement as the iPad is still under warranty. If it was repaired in store how long would it take and how much would it cost??

Have you tried restoring to factory settings >  Restoring iPod to factory settings
This is a usesr to user forum. You are not communicating direclty with Apple here.
Whether or not they will replace the iPad is entirely up the representatives at the Apple Store. Hopefully the warranty will cover any repair costs.

  • IPad AIR (7.04) won't stop Rebooting itself. Reset does not solve.

Problem started after/during installing app from appstore (either Gmail or Google Translator)
Resetting device is successfull, but auto reboot keeps taking place : Apple logo appears fir 10 sec or so. then the small logo clock that hardly is turning at all....
After some minutes: device reboots itself, over and over.
I cannot stop this behaviour. Reset (pressing home and upper button) DOES reset  but issue remains....

Sadly it seems the iPad AIR and IOS is not fully booted enough for iCloud to find my  device.
It shiws "offline"  on www.icloud.com after logging on.
Now attempting iTunes 11.1.3 . Jyst installed it in Windows 7 64bit PC
PC detects apple device through USB
iTunes after the setup attemots to connect to it, but fails with a popup:
"ITunes could not connect ti iPad AIR 'iPad AIR Erwin'  because it is blocked with a passcode. YOu must enter your passcode on the iPad befire it can be used with iTunes"
    Well... nice indeed huh ?
It detects my device with correct name, senses it has passcode and is blocked....
But i cannir enter the code on the iPad since it is 'still' booting ( small white icon wheel that hardly is twirling)
Thus is a deadlock. Cannot factory reset because i cannot enter the code !?

  • IPad Air crashed and won't turn on. tried to hold buttons in but nothing is working

MY iPad Air had crashed after an update. Now it will not restart it make any sounds or show any picture. I have tried numerous methods, but nothing seems to be working. It will not recognize on a PC or iTunes. Please help

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. Happened to me once, about 6 months ago, and a reset got it working again.

  • So my i just dropped my iPad and now it won't start up. It just keeps turning on and off. Like the apple symbol shows up and then goes away? What happened and is there a way to fix it. I tried restoring and that didn't work

I pretty much stated it in my question. I dropped my iPad and now it won't boot itself up. The apple symbol shows up, then the screen turns all black and weird looking with a strange green color at the bottom, and just turns off. It keeps doing this over and over. What happened and is there a way to fix it? I also tried connecting it to itunes and that doesn't seem to be working. It detects an ipad but can't seem to read anything else. It tells me to try and restore it but I can't. HELP!!!

Try this. It worked for a few users after a drop.
Turn the iPad over and give it a very HARD slap on the back. May take several slaps.

  • IPad Air and random crashes

    Greetings,
I'm now on my 3rd iPad (still have my original iPad, and an iPad 3), and just bought an iPad Air, so I've been around them since their inception. I must admit that I've never had any issues with my iPads, until I purchased this Air. I don't know if it's iOS 7.0.4 or the Air itself, but it seems to crash like a drunk driver with sunglasses on at night. It really doesn't matter which app I have running, but I've noticed it most often in Safari and 500px. Safari will be humming along, and next thing I know, I'm back on the Home screen, and whatever I was previously doing is lost (for instance a transaction that I was making through PayPal). With 500px, I'll be viewing photos and suddenly I'm in the Home screen, but can frequently continue from where I previously was.
I might be in another app, working away, and then the iPad simply reboots, and I find myself staring the Apple logo on the black screen. Once I'm able to enter my password and get back in to the iPad, all of my apps are still up and runninng, but whatever I was previously doing is lost. My iPad is most often connected to WiFi, and though I have the cellular addition, it's alwasy turned off. I've had similiar things happen on my iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.4, but not nearly as often as on my iPad Air.
Has anyone else had similiar issues or problems? Any thoughts? Any fixes?
    Jeff

HHe's. A simple visit to Settings, disabling and then immediately re-enabling the feature fixes the issue. But just for a while.
APPLE: Do you hear us?  This should be a VERY easy issue to resolve. It's pervasive, well documented, and utterly annoying and frustrating. Please issue a fix ASAP.

  • HT1296 syncing iPad with iMac - syncing won't start

My iPad has always synced automatically with my iMac when I connected them. Today I get the message "could not be synced because sync session failed to start".

  • MacBook Air froze and won't start up again

My MacBook Air has been working perfectly until today I tried to open a movie in VCL and when I double clicked to go full screen, it all froze. There was a colourful circle where my mouse was meant to be and nothing would work. So I waited and then tried the force quit options and that didn't work. I then accidentally closed the lid on the laptop and when I reopened it, the screen was blank and the big apple on the too was not lit up anymore. I plugged in my charger but it had 60% battery when this happened, and the orange light was on. I tried the start up options but nothing is working. Please help thank you.

I had this happen to my MacBook Air and it died after two months off of extended warranty. The mother board had failed and needed a new one. I subsequently sold it for parts

  • I'm setting up a new iPad air and it won't take my Apple ID

I'm setting up a new iPad3 and I'm at the step where it asks for my Apple ID to finish setting up the iCloud.  Any clues?  I double checked and used the password in iTunes and it works....
    Any help appreciate!

What is the message/error you are getting?  Perhaps this thread will offer the solution for you:
Setting up new iPad mini- it won't accept apple id

  • How can you repair a MacBook air when it won't start properly?

My MacBook Air is just over 3 years old and thus out of warranty.
It gives a message that says the Preference Pane cannot be opened. Mostly the screen is black but sometimes (oddly) Adobe Bridge has a window ... but I cannot move to any other application.
    1) is Genius Bar only available if your product is under warranty?
    2) is there no way to check it? No recovery shows up when I option-restart.
Advice would be appreciated. the closest Apple store is an hour away.

Backup your files. If you have a 2010 model that came with a set of two software discs then do the following:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1. If you wish to upgrade to a later version of OS X, then do so on the App Store.
If you have the 2011 model then do this:
Install or Reinstall Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, or Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • IPad Air - Factory Reset won't erase Data.

When I got my iPad I played with it to get to know all the settings and how to transfer music and pics etc....then after I'd worked it all out I wanted to factory reset the pad so it'd be fresh and new again to add my content....
I factory reset it and after the initial set up I looked in "Usage" and found that...."Contacts & Reminders,Mail and Messages"
....have over 600KB of Data usage....all the other catagorys below such as "Safari,Sounds,Contacts,Music,Videos,Photos & Camera"....have No Data usage....
I've Factory Reset it a few times to check and every time it shows in Usage that I have Data....the amount of Data even varies upon each reset....I've even done DFU Resets and it still shows I have a Data stored....
I don't use iCloud so there's no Data there that's being pushed....I've also run DiskAid and it shows there is NO DATA stored on the pad....
Iv had a call fro Apple support and they said they are going to get the technical people to look into it and call me back....

Iv had three calls from Apple Support about the issue....they say its the data used to build the application....thats fair enough....they all need that....
So how come other applications which obviously need data to build the App show"No Data"....E.G. User Data thats been collected or added?....
But my Contacts,Reminders,Mail still do after a Factory Reset?....

  • Ipad air /Iphone 5s won't connect to digital radio (bluetooth)

I recently got an ipad mini and an iphone 5s, my problem is bluetooth doesn't seem to recogize my Hdigital DAB+ radio, I already checked the settings and bluetooth is on on bothe devices but they don't find the radio, I also have my old ipad 2 and it has no problems with the radio, it recognices/finds it and I can play music from my ipad using the radio no problem. Any help will be appreciated
And I ve also made sure all devices are using the same wifi connection. I also installed the last IOS update

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
