IPad Air 2 Touch ID

Hi Moderator,
I have an issue with my new iPad Air 2 Touch ID.
When setup my new iPad Air 2 with the touch ID and it works well for 3 days and suddenly on the fourth day, my touch ID just disappear.
I try to register it again and there is an error message telling me "Fail to connect touch ID".
Is this a faulty touch ID?
I bought it last Friday 14 Nov 2014.
Regards,
Steven

Hi Bobseufert,
Thank for the advise.

  • Ipad air 2 touch id not working when plugged in

    A very strange problem tonight.
After work, I grabbed my iPad Air 2 which was plugged in to the Apple Charger next to my chair.  Touched the home button to open it - nothing happened.  Tried again.  Nothing happened.  Entered the code and the IPad Air opened.
After dinner, same thing.  Touch ID did not work with any of 3 fingers.  With the code - it opened.  So, I decided to delete and redo the finger scans.  Turned off - no change - Touch ID not working.
To get a better grip, I unplugged the Apple charger.  Viola!  Touch ID worked.  Plugged it back in.  Touch ID stops working.
Powder off, power on.  Touch ID works unplugged but not plugged in.  I have done the Reset All Settings.  No change.
At a loss.  This is not a 3rd party charger - it is the Apple one that came with the iPad Air.  Anyone got any ideas?
    Tim

Make sure the usb wall adapter is from Apple too.
if your using a generic wall adapter and original Apple lightning cable,
    the touch ID won't work.
IF you use both apple wall adapter and lightning cable
    the touch id should work.
    hopes this helps

  • IPad Air's touch goes crazy when charging.

When I charge my iPad Air with a ipad2 10w charger (apple) The touch becomes very inaccurate. The screen will shake and apps will start to open. If I unplug the charger all is well. I believe Apple has said that the 10w is compatible with the iPad Air, but it will charge slower. Has anyone else had this issue?

Does that charger still work with the iPad 2 or is that iPad gone now? It sounds like there might be a short in the charger.

  • Music app on iPad Air sensing touch when fingers are off screen

Got an iPad air 32GB WiFi, the music app, when on a list, seems to be sensing touch, and the list will start to scroll. This happens more when fingers are on other areas of the screen (like volume control), however controlling music from EarPod remote seems to trigger this also. Have a Smart Cover (from Apple Store), which I thought could be affecting it, however because this is an intermittent issue, I haven't been able to fully test this theory.

Your iPad Air is under warranty.  If that were my machine, I would take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Center, demonstrate the issue to the folks, and see what remedy they recommend.

  • IPad Air 2 touch sensitivity problems

I purchased and iPad Air 2 two days ago.  I noticed the screen had sensitivity problems around the outer edges which were apparent when trying to use the keyboard.  Keys such as "Q," the microphone button and then pressing "done" as well as the character keyboard button and switching between various keyboards, etc. where not responding well to touch.  I exchanged it for another one the next day, brought it home and it exhibited the same problems.  Brought the second one back the store and the two sales associates noted the same thing only they had not come across this before.  They brought out another one which I tried at the store and it had the same unresponsive key problems.  Each iPad exhibited different degrees of this problem.  Bouncing between keys "q" "a" "z" in rapid succession or trying to select the different character keyboards at the very bottom of the screen made the problem.  Sometimes trying to compose an email or deleting one using the icons at the top of the screen exited the same problems.  That was three iPad Air 2's.  Several demo units exhibited the same problem while several others did not.  Is this a defective manufacturing issue or a potential design flaw associated with the new laminated layers of screen?

Two of the three demo units at the Apple store worked great.  One of them exhibited the same problems I had.  Composing emails was a problem as well as trying to delete email.  Oddly, another persons iPad I tried worked well but they ordered their's online through Apple.  I beginning to believe that there is flawed lot of manufactured iPads.  I refuse to try to buy another one at the Apple Store in RI right now.  I may try to order one online and see what happens.  If that exhibits problems, then I'm done with the iPad Air 2 period.  I'll wait another year or so for the next version.  I would take your's back if I were you.
P.S. One thing I noticed with all the problem iPads is that if you're using them microphone button on the keyboard, each model's "ding" noise had some crackling sound with it.  I could replicate it if I waited for a minute or so.  If I pressed the microphone button immediately afterward, it sounded normal.  It's weird - not sure if it's related or not to the sensitivity issue.

  • Anybody know what the iPad Air's touch resolution is?

Not display rez, touch rez. I've searched and searched and I can't find any info on this.
I just bought my Air less than a week ago and one of the things I hope to do with it is to use it for some fairly detailed sketchwork. I have been told not to expect much, but I'm thinking that, dang it, it's an Apple! And isn't Apple supposed to be the preferred computer brand for the art crowd? So it just seems to me that, since it's a pad and all, it should be a halfway decent instrument for artwork. After I received it, the very first thing I did was order a pressure-sensitive stylus for it. Should be here in a day or two.
I've played around some with the free Autodesk app, Sketchbook. It seems decent, but trying to draw with my finger is just not what I want. I've done some tests with my finger and thin lines, though, and at a 1x screen zoom factor, I'm able to get some precise placements with my finger if I'm careful and paying attention. What I did was I drew a cross, then placed the tip of my index finger, dead center at the crux of the cross and then drew away from the center at a straight angle. First try, the line I drew began exactly at the center of the cross. I sort of have to bend to the side and look at my finger at an angle so the finger itself isn't in the way. But when I do that, I'm able to place it accurately. So just using this simple sort of test, it appears that the touch resolution is quite a bit better than at least one estimate I heard -- like 5 or 10 lines per inch. Heh. More like 100 lines per inch, I'm thinking. I've also done a few other quick sketches and near as I can tell, I can place my lines accurately. Seems like if the rez was only 5 or 10 lpi, I wouldn't be able to do that.  I can live with that 100 lpi figure even though it's incredibly coarse compared to a decent Wacom Cintiq, like the 12hx, I think it is.
Still, knowing the Air's actual touch resolution would be a big help in either confirming or disproving such comments as I mentioned above. So if you happen to know what the touch rez is for the Air, care to let me in on it?

YYosemite is a Mac OS and it doesn't run on an iPad. You cannot delete or install Safari on the iPad. It is on your device somewhere.
Swipe from screen to screen to look for it.
Check Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure that you didn't disable it.
You can also reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

  • Screen on iPad Air Feels Different When Touching Than iPad 2

i just got an iPad Air and while it works great, and the screen is responsive, it feels different when I touch the screen to do something, than my iPad 2 did, or the iPad Mini w/retina display I had for a day before exchanging it for the Air. Both of those, as well as my iPhone all feel firm when you touch/press it. In fact, I always thought that "typing" on the iPad 2 was annoying because it did feel like there was no "give" to the screen. But in the case of the iPad Air, there is a distinctly different feel when touching, pressing, typing....it seems to give a little...it's a little "spongey"....it feels more like touching plastic than glass perhaps...
Does anyone else notice this? Could it be because the Air is so thin? (But so was the mini and I did NOT notice it there).
In all of this I am concerned that there COULD be something wrong with the screen, although other than how it FEELS, there are no other signs at all of a problem.
    Any comments are welcome...thanks.
    Jeff

Jeff, first excusme for my English i write from Spain. I also remarked different the iPad air screen than the previous model. I get the feeling that it is harder to answer, especially on the sides. Also sometimes when I want to deploy a tab id hard to "obey" the first time.

  • An app occupy the same space in the flash memory whether it is iPod Touch 5G or iPad Air / Retina iPad mini?

For example, Real Racing 3 takes 1.5 GB in my iPod Touch 5G. But it takes the same in the iPad Air / Retina iPad mini?

I think you didn't understand. I meant the size that takes from the flash memory. I hava an iPod Touch 5G and the app was 1.4GB the day that was release.

how do i get pictures off my i pod touch 4th generation to ipad air?

The PhotoStream only works for the last 30 days of photos that are in the iPod's PhotoStream.
    iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
For other photos you have to:
    - email them
    - Use a cloud service
    - Import them from iPod to your computer
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Then sync them to your iPad

  • Is the iPad Air screen less sensitive to touch?

I just got an iPad Air, and notice that it's less sensitive to touch (as compared to my iPad 2 and iPhone 5, both running iOS 7).
I am used to touching the screen ever, ever so gently (just brushing against it with my fingertip), in order to scroll pages etc. This no-longer works with the iPad Air. I need to have more of my finger in contact with the screen in order for it to register a touch.
At first I thought it was because of the protective film that they put on when I bought the iPad, but I asked them to remove it, and it was still the same. (Also, I have a screen protector on my iPhone, and it's no less sensitive to touch as a result.)
I went back to the store and tried another iPad Air, and it was exactly the same as my one: less sensitive. The store employees concurred: it's a significant difference.
Do they have a bad batch at this store, or is the iPad Air screen just "different"?

I wanted to buy an ipad air to replace my ipad 2 but the one I wanted was (luckily) sold out.
Yesterday I tested the air from a collegue and I noticed the screen was SUBSTANTIALLY less sensitive than the screen of my ipad 2 when using my stylus.
I use Stylus R US especially for I annotate and with the air this did not work well at all... Half of the time there was no contact registered so underying certain parts of the text was a disaster...
Just working with the finger all whent OK... Just fear that another app I use a lot (notes +) will have same problem.
On the Ipad 4 also retina all goes *** smooth as on my ipad 2...
Is this a fault of a specific ipad air series? Or is this normal?? If it is I think this is truelly a huge flaw and I cannot see how not manny people using the ipad for notetaking etc did not notice this...

  • Anyone else having issues with iPad Air touch screen x y  positioning inaccuracy?

I have a 128GB WiFi Cellular iPad Air with IOS 7.0.3 installed. I have noticed, especially with the Photos app, that where you touch on the screen isnt exactly what is returned by the iPad. For example, if I want to view a photo in a display of a series of thumbnails I have to actually touch the photo to the left of the one I want to view. If I touch the one I want to view, the one to the right expands to full screen. I am hoping this is just a software issue. If not, then this one is going to be returned while I still have time in the initial 30 day window.

Well, I think I figured out the problem. I had a pdf file somehow loaded into the camera roll. All images before the pdf were opening appropriately, but the ones ater that file were always shifted to the right. I deleted the pdf file and now they all open correctly.

  • Is anyone else having an issue with touch sensitivity with ipad air 2 while plugged in?

I'm now up to 8.2 hoping with each update it will be fixed.  I use my ipad a lot, so sometimes during the day I have to use it while plugged in.  You can't even type an email.  It drops keys, jumps keys, doesn't respond to touch, and just acts really sluggish.  You  have to unplug it to type and then plug back in when you're done.  Unplugging fixes it instantly.  I don't get it.  I've read others experiencing this, but I haven't heard about a fix.  Anyone?

Are you using an Apple charger?
It may be a current issue from your power outlet.  Try changing outlets & charging it plugged into its own receptacle.
I do not have the issue on my iPad Air 2, iOS 8.1.3.

  • IPad Air Touch Screen Not Working

I have a new iPad Air 128Gb model.  I was using it and the screen stopped responding.  I used the sleep/wake button and home button trick and it restarted, but still not responding.  The areas you are trying to touch have a box placed around them, but will not let you touch them.  For instance, when I try to put my passcode in I push the number 1 and the number has a box around it, but it does not let me activate the number 1 to unlock the iPad.  I made an appointment at Genius Bar, but I am looking for other solutions or has anyone had something similar happen?

You have turned on VoiceOver. You turn it off by going to Settings > General > Accessibility and turn it off there.
To navigate in this mode, you select items by tapping once, then double-tap to activate the item, and need to scroll using THREE fingers.
Please do not go to the trouble of restoring.
    And read the manual...
