IPad air do I need to buy internet security
Have I got any protection on the iPad air? Regarding security like if it was laptop I would purchase internet security.
What do I do with iPad, sorry if this seems a silly question
Also is there a feature on iPad for favourites,
If you mean antil-virus and malware protection, no. As long as you have not jailbroken the device, you can't install anything that doesn't come from the app store. And there really isn't any anti-virus software available.

Do I need to buy internet security for my Mac
Do I need to purchase a internet security for my mac?
No. Any such software for the Mac is usually worthless; Mac OS X has protection of its own, and the free ClamXav can be used to detect and remove Windows viruses.

My neighbour's Mac Book Pro shows up as discoverable in my Bluetooth list on my iPad Air. How can I block her Bluetooth device? How can I prevent her pairing with my device? I need Bluetooth to stream music on my Bose system. Thanks!
If your device is discoverable, the other BT device would try (I am not sure if that would be successful). If it was, it would appear in your system preferences>Bluetooth.
Take a look at this re: security:
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10786
This is from another Apple article:
Use Bluetooth
You can wirelessly transfer files between computers—even Mac to PC—using the Bluetooth File Exchange utility. You can even browse selected devices and retrieve files remotely. For extra security, you can stipulate that only trusted devices be allowed to connect to your Mac, and 128-bit over-the-air encryption is also available
Barry
P.S. Since I have not had the issue, I have not researched this before. Thank you for making me look into BT security

For a Macbook Air will I need to buy a mac mini to run additional programs like photoshop and games
As a graphic design student I wanted to own a laptop that was capable of running Adobe programs and games, but I bought a 2014 Macbook Air; 128GB of storage, 4GB of memory, and runs at 1.4 Ghz. With this information will I still be able to run programs with no problem or will I need to buy a Mac Mini to run all the programs and games that'll be too much for my Air.
Your MacBook Air has turbo boost up to 2.7GHz > http://store.apple.com/us/buy-mac/macbook-air?product=MD711LL/B&step=config
Check Adobe's website for minimum requirements for the apps and games you want to use.
Turbo boost is a technology integrated into Intel processors that temporarily increases the speed of the processor when needed. -

How do I connect a Garmin 500 to ipad air?
I'm not sure what you mean by "use the gps app". There is no gps app as such on any iOS device.
Location services, a component of iOS, can use GPS on those device with it (iPhone and cellular iPads), but as a user, you use apps to access that location data and display it or whatever.
There are geotracking, biking and hiking apps in the App store that might do just what you want. Have a look through the app store for some of the navigation apps that might be suitable replacements to the Garmin device.
Just search for cycling apps in iTunes or the App store and you should get several hits (there is one called Cycle Tracker Pro I've heard of, by a company that makes a whole host of geotracking and exercise related apps - BlueFin software). -
IPad Air battery problems, need help ASAP!
My iPad Air battery drains EXTREMELY fast and it's supposed to have up to 10 hours (only 2-3 hours for me) and my iPad charger keeps charging backwards and it always dies even though it's charged. This makes no sense at all and it frustrates me because I have to leave it alone while charging but I want to go on it while charging. The charger takes FOREVER to get to 100% when not using it. My iPad Air is a 128 GB with wifi. Please help and tell me if this happens to you also. Thanks.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

Does ipad air hang and need reboot often?
I found Ipad Air requires frequent reboot. Does any one else face this issue. I used Ipad 1, 4 but none had such issues in past
My iPad air does not restart or require a restart. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

Have older Dell Dimension 32/bit with Win XP Prof 2002. I have installed CA security suite from my ISP, which is a huge program and uses 100% of CPU on start-up & shut down, slowing everthing to a snails pace. I have removed evrything I don't need using 30 day free Revo Unistaller Pro, but when I try to access CA's Firewall to add programs to the exception rule, it will open, then freezes along with Firefox tabs and anything else. Can't even shut down from start menu. I want to get rid of CA(although it is a good program, it's too big), and go back to using my Win Firewall(or another better free firewall that's good for more than 30 days trial) and some other free internet security program that is easy, runs in the background and doesn't take all my resources and isn't just a 30 day free trial till you buy the program. I am also trying to install a wireless adapter so I can drop my ISP and use the free city/county signal as no work for 20 months!
== This happened ==
A few times a week
== Trying to access CA security Suite FirewallI am the original poster, and I got rid of CA Security Suite & and loaded the Avast! which has some great features even on the freeware. No more crashes or freezing & yes I think there is a problem with CA & Firefox, but am not sure what it is. CA was a big time hog. I also got rid of my ISP and installed a Intellinet Wireless G PCI Card & now am completely wireless on my PC. Faster by far than what I was paying $50/month for & I use my Windows Firewall.

I have not renewed my McAfee. i am not sure whether FF 4 beta security protection is good enough. I do internet banking often. do i still need to have other security or anti-virus software?
Firefox is just a web browser, you still need anti-virus, anti-malware and firewall protection.

Do i need to buy extra security
Could anyone tell me if I should buy extra internet security, such as Norton Antivirus?
No, you don't.
Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.
See these Apple articles:
Mac OS X Snow Leopard and malware detection
OS X Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
OS X Mountain Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
About file quarantine in OS X
If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using Dr.Web Light from the App Store. It's free, and since it's from the App Store, it won't destabilize the system. If you prefer one of the better known commercial products, then Thomas recommends using Sophos.(Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.) If you already use Sophos, then be aware of this if you are using Mavericks: OS X Mavericks- Sophos Anti-Virus on-access scanner versions 8.0 - 9.1 may cause unexpected restarts
From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
The facts are:
1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
2. There is no anti-malware that can detect anything targeting the Mac because there
is no Mac malware in the wild, and therefore, no "signatures" to detect.
3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
protection against malware.
5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware. -
Do I need to buy extra security for my Mac lion
Do I need to buy antivirus for my Mac lion. If so which one
There is progressively more malware coming out for OS X; however, it is still minuscule in comparison to other platforms. Right now the need for a malware scanner depends on your uses, but it's not a bad idea to have one and keep it updated. You do not need to enable all of its features and have it always scanning every file you use, but if you have it scan the system once a week or even once a month, and then only scan downloaded files then you should be good to go.

I am new to the Ipad, just over a week BT have said that we are using excessive amounts of broadband we are on a 10 gb max, however I have not changed my usage, I do not use my laptop when I am on the Ipad. I do not download music, films etc. Do play candycrush, pet rescue and wicked, but was playing these through facebook prior to playing them on the Ipad. Here you can check the amount of data being used. I would suggest to reset the statistics (bottom of the page) then monitor the usage. -

Do I need to buy Pages again for my new ipad 2?
I have Pages on my Macbook Pro. Do I need to buy it again for my new ipad 2? I can't seem to find a way of accessing it from the ipad.
Yes, you will need to buy the app version from the app store if you want to use it on the iPad - the version on your Mac (OS X) is not compatible with the iPad (iOS), they are different operating systems
