IPad Air doesn't learn new words

Hi everybody,
I have the problem right now, that my iPad air, newest software version, doesn't learn new words. My former iPad 3 with the same software version didn't have this problem and learned new words without any problems.
Can anybody tell me what the problem might be maybe have an idea how I can solve this?!?
THX in advance!
Stephan

Thank you very much for your answer, but the Autocorrection button is turned on and the other idea you had I also tried, but unfortunately didn't I get the result I thought I was get! So I have no ideas anymore what the problem can be, because with my former iPad 3 I never had this problem.

How can I print from my ipad air without buying a new "air print" compatable printer? I currently have a HP Photosmart plus B210. Can I make that work?

Although you have posted in a Mavericks forum, implying that you have a Mac computer, your profile doesn't say that you have one. Printer Pro requires the printer to be connected to a Mac.

tried defining the iPad as new - the same problem. started it in recovery mode - the same

    The definition of insanity.....
Does it ask for the old device by name?  How do you know it isn't restored?   Have you completed setup and checked on the device?
Are you using the same iTunes account and Apple ID?
On your iTunes account, Open preferences, go to devices tab
Look in the box for a backup of your old device.    Is there a backup?
If there is no backup, you have nothing to restore.

  • Safari ios7 issues on iPad Air - can't open new tabs - + sign closes app

Safari ios7 issues on iPad Air - can't open new tabs or view other tabs.
The + sign just closes the app every single time!
In some cases, the back and forward buttons don't work.
It's driving me crazy becuase if the webpage I'm on opens and ad or tab that I don't want to look at, I can't close it and go back, I have to retype the web address in and find where I was on the site!

I, too, tried all the fixes...nothing worked.
Found another thread on this forum and looks like a lot of us are having same problem.
Next time it happens, go to SETTINGS/GENERAL/ABOUT and check to see it there is a "low memory" incident report.
    If there is:
See the discussion thread "iPad Air Low Memory Crashes".
Seems to be common....this could turn into a HUGH issue.

"Can I use charger 10w without any worreies(damage battery)?"
    Yes you can.

If you mean "can I get my power adapter replaced under warranty, at the Apple store?", yes.

  • My new ipad air doesn't allow me to see purchased apps

I've backed up my old ipad on itunes and set up the new ipad air from the backup but none of the apps have appeared and when I go to the App Store to download them from iCloud the icon for iCloud doens't appear and there are no apps visible in the Purchased Apps tab so I can't download the apps I had on my old ipad. How do I get the new ipad air to have the same content (including apps) as the old one?

Have you tried logging out of your account on your iPad by tapping on your id in Settngs > iTunes & App Store and then logging back in and seeing if they show in the Purchased tab for redownloading ?
When you backed up your iPad on your computer's iTunes, did you also trasnfer your downloads over to your computer via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases ? The apps themselves aren't included in a backup, just their content/settings, so for a restore to be able to copy your apps onto a device the apps need to be in the Apps part of your computer's iTunes library. If you copy them from your old iPad or redownload them on your computer via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage you can then retry restoring to the backup

  • IPad Air won't autocorrect, predict words, highlight typos

    Hi, folks:
I bought a new (my first) iPad Air in May. Something it doesn't do that all my pods and phones have done is autocorrect, predict words, or hihglight words that it thinks are weird. I have gone into Settings > General > Keyboards dozens of times and turned the pertinent items on and off and on and off and sometimes it's made a difference ... briefly, in that Shortcuts will work for a day or two. But mostly, it doesn't.  I have "Reset Keyboard Dictionary," and I have "Reset All Settings" (argh). It just blthely lets me type along like an idiot like we did in the old days, which is bad because I'm a hunt-'n-peck typist, so I really NEED to be corrected and have my errors highlighted.
NB: I have a NewTrent AirBender iPad case; it has a keyboard. That's what I type on. I'm suspicious that it has something to do with this problem. Do you spose that's it?
I have precisely two keyboards in Settings: English and Emoji. I'm running ios 8.1. (I'm witing on 8..1 to make sure I don't regret it.) Updates have never helped the situation.
I suuure would appreciate some help with this. It's making me batty. When I tye on my iPhone 4, it helps me with errors. The iPad stubbornly refuses to do the same.
    Thanks.
    Binky

    Try some basic troubleshooting:
    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    (C) Setup as new (data will be lost if you do not have backup)
    Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings

  • Behaviour for learning new words

    Hello all,
I have a Xperia Z3 and a HTC One Mini and on both devices I have activated the new word learning feature and the swipe typing function, because I generally like that. However, the HTC One Mini does the word learning in a far better way and I was wondering if the Sony could be set to behave the same way.
    Here is the difference...
    - The Sony learns each and every word that it doesn't know as I type without any exception.
    - The HTC learns words it doesn't know only if I click the new word twice after writing it.
I like the HTC behaviour much more, because it gives me control about the words that end up in my list of own new words.
The Sony device just bloats my list of own new words and I have to clean that up periodically in order to get meaningful suggestions when I type. Words that I maybe just used once, numerals that are actually not words, words that are long conjunctions of multiple basic words, and of course also words that I just misspelled keep ending up in my word list. As a result completely meaningless and sometimes unexpected suggestions come up, e.g. like a long word as "insubordination" although I just wanted to type "in".
Does anyone know if the Sony device can be set to behave as the HTC?

    @Suak0903
    Perhaps trying a different keyboard.

  • IBooks on iPad air doesn't work, enables to save pdf

I bought iPad Air, 3 days ago, I backuped from my old iPad, all the softweres are new (latest version of ios and iBook at today). The problem is that iBooks library looks empty, any file (neither PDFs nor books). when I'm on safari I open the pdf on ibooks, it works, but then if I go to library, or reopen the app, anything is in there; if I connect the iPad to my MacBook looks like the files are in there but any actions is permitted. I tried almost everything: delete files and restore; delete app and reinstall; close the app reset the iPad and reopen; refresh from preference...anything! I'm stuck, any helps will be appreciate.

    Same problem here!
When I googled the problem there is a complex fix involving deleting the app both on iPad and Mac... Have not tried it yet!

  • My iPad Air doesn't lock with a Smart Cover

I have an iPad Air first generation with iOS 8.2 on it. I purchased an official Apple Smart Cover and the smart lock/unlock does not work. I have the lock/ unlock setting enabled in settings>general.  I have also tried an aftermarket smart case and it doesn't work either.  The screen doesn't lock and I don't hear an audible lock sound.  I have tried restoring my iPad. I took my iPad to the Apple Store and they told me the iPad was out of warranty and offered to sell me a refurbished iPad of the same model for $299.  I was disappointed this was the only option they gave me. What else can I try?

  • Spelling check: learn new words

    hi,
if I add a new word to mail.app's dictionary (right-click > learn), where is that being stored? And can I back that up? Or what dictionary does mail.app use? It's own, or dictionary.app?
    Thanks

    Thank you very much!
Your answer hit right into target! And the problem was so simple undercore, but without your advice I, probably, wouldn't guess it! I have been looking into the System, trying to find something there and, in fact, never looked carefully into the "Show Spelling and Grammar" menu. So, I actually have made an important discovery for myself, too.
    Thanks again!

  • I want to add my existing iPad Air 2 to a new iMac Retina 5K. Can I do this without erasing the contents of my iPad?

I just bought an iMac with Retina 5K display. I have an existing iPad Air 2. Can I connect the iPad to the iMac without erasing the contents of the iPad? If so how? Thanks for your help.

Hi. Actually you can connect your iPad to the iTunes without erasing the contents which purchased from iTunes Store. I suggest to import your photos taken by iPad to iMac the first time: Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support.
Also you can click to stop syncing to avoid losing some contents.

  • Video app on iPad Air doesn't sync correctly

All my movies ever purchased are showing up in my Video app on my iPad Air, when I have the sync movies button unclicked.
No movies will play and most of the movie icons have no image.
    What gives?

You may not have enough available storage space. How much do you have?
    Go to Settings>General>About>Available

  • In safari on my iPad air + doesn't work

In safari on my iPad air if I press the + in the top right hand corner and safari closes is this a bug?

    Try this:
Quit all apps: Double tap the Home button and swipe the app preview page up for each open app
    then
Reset: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and don’t let go until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears (no data will be lost)
