IPad Air replacement unit

Hi folks I recently bought a iPad Air 128gb wifi-cellular online .i had the unit a week and I discovered a dead pixel I took it to apple store who confirmed this .their going to replace it within 5 days (apparently they need to order that model in) does anyone know if Apple replace units with refurbished units or new units ? I won't be amused if Apple replace my ipad air with a refurbished unit I've only had it a week.i did not pay hundreds of pounds for what is essentially a second hand unit

Hi just had Apple on phone this morning saying my replacement ipad is ready to collect from the store and when I questioned if it was a retail unit or as new unit I would be receiving they could not confirm one or the other. I then asked them to supply me the model/serial number of the replacement ipad because I know there's a way to tell from model number if it's retail unit or refurbished unit. They wouldn't tell me and they gave me a bs story apple recycle all parts on their products and I said to them so what your saying is potentially all retails unit you sell could contain refurbished/recycled parts. Cut a long story short I told them I'm not exchanging a one week old ipad for a refurbished unit it's a miniscule tiny mark/bit of dust on the inside of the glass which you can only see under direct light.

  • HT203512 Got my iPad air replaced guy in store said my music was in cloud and it wouldn't be a problem to transfer over.turns out it is cause I had updated my system since then and my entire music Is

I Got my iPad air replaced because it had problems connecting to the wifi.
the guy in the Apple Store said my music library was stored in the cloud and would be easily restored.
the problem is the new iPads operating system was updated there for couldn't retrieve my stored music I was livid I have an old pc
that took me ages to get the full music library on in the first place and don't really want to go down that route again.
please if you can give me any advice to get my library on my iPad from the cloud please help.....

There are two ways to sync music across your computers and devices (e.g., iPads, iPhones).
One (the "traditional" method) is to connect a cable between the PC or Mac and the device, open iTunes, and sync all or some of your music.
The cloud method requires an iTunes Match subscription ($25/year in the US, £22/year in UK). With this method, you sign up, and all your iTunes music is copied up to the cloud, where it then becomes available on all devices. If you stop the subscription you lose cloud access to the music - however, you should keep a copy of the music in its original location (e.g., the PC you started with), or download everything from the cloud to another authorized computer, to keep a local copy just in case. If you're not sure whether or not you have an iTunes Match subscription active, check your emails from Apple, or just try to sign into iTunes Match on the iPad (Settings - iTunes - iTunes Match) and see if it lets you.
"Device backup" is a separate thing from "syncing". You can back up an iPad to a computer or to iCloud. Much of your information is backed up - however, it does NOT include music. If the Apple representative told you that an iCloud backup would restore your music, he was mistaken.
I don't know if that helps you

  • How Can I Tell if My iPad Air Replacement is New or Refurbished

I'm getting a replacement iPad Air because mine had a problem with it, there were loose magnets in it. I've heard that people have another person's data on apps they have just downloaded and that makes me really uncomfortable.
How can I tell if my replacement is brand new or just refurbished? Is there info in the serial/model number?
    Thanks.

You might hear a lot of things on the Internet but that doesn't make them true.
If you got a refurbished iPad from Apple it would be completely empty.
Refurbished iPads are identified on the packaging.
You can see the model number in Settings > Genera l> About > Model. The model number has a two-letter code, a number and some more letters. The last part stands for the country/region. The first letter can be "F" (refurbished), "M" (normal retail), or "P" (personalized / engraved).

  • Help with iPad Air Replacement? When will it arrive?

Hey guys, this is my first time here so hopefully im doing everything correctly.
Basically, I recently ordered a NEW iPad Air a few days ago (two days ago). It still has active warranty. However, as soon as i opened it and turned on the screen, i Noticed that the left side had a yellow tint which really bothered me.
So I ordered an iPad replacement, and apple just sent me an email saying that they'll ship a box in which i can put my iPad in and send it to them.
    Here are my questions:
1). Lets say I get my replacement, and it has a similar issue or some other issue. Will I be able to send in the replacement for another replacement?
2). Will the replacement have an active warranty?
3). Will the replacement iPad be new or refurbished?
4). When will I get my replacement iPad (average). One week, two weeks, couple of days...etc.?
5). Will I have to ship my original iPad via USPS, FED EX, UPS...etc? I have a USPS post office right next to my house so its very convenient for me if its USPS. Not so if its FED EX or UPS...I'm currently living in Maryland, USA
Thank you guys! Sorry for the long questions, but I'm really stumped right now. I can't believe a $600 product has such as screen defect Thanks to everyone who answers this in advance!
Also, where do I post questions like these to? I couldn't find any community related to apple support, and this was the closest category...sorry for any confusion.

If you are getting a network timeout then try temporarily turning off your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed.

  • Can ipad air replace a cell phone

Can I pad air be used as a cell phone?

No it can't.  You can use Skype on iPad, but it is not a cell phone, wasn't designed to be a cell phone and can't be a cell phone.

  • I have given my ipad air 2 for replacement. How the replacement product will be? can anyone details?

My ipad air 2 got some speaker issue. so i went to service centre. They said THEY WILL REPLACE THE PRODUCT WITH NEW ONE. How the replacement product will be? can any give details about the product?

    RAM@RAID wrote:
Thanks again. Is there any possibility that they can replace as a sealed box as a original one? OR usually they will replace like this?
Did i have any rights that i can as ipad in unsealed box?
what r the conditions they replace as unsealed box?
I brought ipad just 28 days back before this problem arrives...
I got my iPad Air replaced once due to a tiny crack on the back of the device. Apple replaces it with a brand new iPad Air but it doesn't come in a retail box (like the ones they sell at the stores). The replacement is in a brown box (if I remember correctly) with no markings. There's no charger/cable in the box. It's not a refurbished device. It's brand new.

  • I want to stream itunes movies I've bought on my ipad air to my lg smart tv.  From the 'Home' screen of the lg, there is no itunes app shown that would somehow let me share info with my ipad air.  Has anyone the answer.  Am I missing something here?

I have an lg smart TV.  I also just bought an apple ipad air,Wi-Fi Cellular 16GM I've signed up the air to itunes and just purchased a movie on the ipad air.  I was able to stream the movie on my air and my pc, which is of course wirelessly connected to my smart TV.  I've searched the 'Home' screen of the lg to find a way to also stream that movie on the lg.  Am I somehow just not reading right and missing the point, or is what I'm trying to do not possible?

I have raised this issue with apple support this week too after my Facetime and iMessage stopped working on Saturday.
Been very interesting to read the ever increasing number of comments and issues being raised on this one (more than 500 views and dozens of replies so far).
    My post is here:
imessage and Facetime sign in activation error iPad ios8.1.2
What is especially interesting about your post is that you had your iPad Air replaced in November 2014 in the UK. I bought my iPad Air originally in October 2014, and had to have it replaced in an Apple Store in Bristol in November after the original stopped charging. This does make me wonder if there is a batch of faulty iPads? Mmm...
I have raised a fully escalated support case with Apple on this, and their latest response is that a 'patch' or fix is being investigated by their engineers and to wait a week or so at which point they might be releasing it to affected users - or even across every users.
I wish there was a way to get this to Apple's attention and the wider media as well, but I don't know how best to do that.
I guess the best thing we can do is keep hassling Apple for a response and raising support cases

  • Since iOS 8 came out, my iPad Air with iOS 7.1.2 is slow on wifi searches. Is this the way to for me to update? After reading the common threads, I do not want to upgrade yet. Is there another solution?

What is wrong with this picture? We are forced to vent on forums and rely on other users to find answers to our problems. Obviously, after reading other posts, we all suffer from poor quality controls before release of upgrades and new "toys"! I have an iPad Air replacing an iPad 1st Gen bought on the first day of release. Was happy until iOS 7 was introduced. Since then, many frozen screens on the web, unexpected shut downs for reboot. No, it is not full, as I have over 70gigs available. I close my apps regularly so they don't run in the background. NOW, since the release of iOS 8, my wifi connection is slow like ****, to almost not working. And I haven't even ungraded to iOS 8! Is this Apple's new way to force me to upgrade? My iPhone 4S is faster, although I have to change it. No battery life, regular unexpected shutdowns. JUST WRITING THIS POST IS PAINFULL: at one point, I was only able to erase text by backing up... No editing possible, no new typing either... As if I was monitered and they did not agree with my text. So weird... Anyways it is back now. As I was saying, need to change phone, but I am afraid to buy  the 6 with iOS 8.
SO, here are my questions: what can i do for my iPad Air connectivity issues? And between an iOS 7 iPhone 5S and iOS 8 iPhone 6, what to choose?

If you don't like to be helped by other users that volunteer their time to help other users, then go to your nearest Apple store, and talk to a Genius there at the bar. Call up Apple Support. There are ways to get direct Apple Support. These forums are here to help out those who want help. Not for those who just want to vent.

The iPad Air shipped with iOS 7 from factory, so not sure what that means.   it worked with 7 but then it did not?
Whatever is going on with your iPad now, is completely unrelated to the release of iOS 8. Apple does not tamper with the devices to force you to update. In fact you don't even have to update at all.   I know people still using iOs 6 because they like it.
Personally I updated my iPad 2, an iPad Mini, and my iPhone 5 to iOS 8 and have experience none of the issues that seem to plague people.  Should i automatically assume the update is flawless?  No, but I also don't assume that Apple is causing issues to my devices remotely. That is just ludicrously ridiculous.
The forum software here does have many issues. It also ironically enough doesn't get along with iPads very well for some reason, but Apple has nothing to do with that.  Jive, the makers of the forum software provide it to Apple and maintain it as well. If there are issues with the forum software we report them to them, and they try to fix them.
With that said, apple sold over 10 million iPhone 6s on launch, have you seen anywhere near that many complaints about it?
In a pool of devices that large there's bound to be issues, but its still a very very small percentage of users having any issues at all let alone device breaking ones which are even less.
Good luck finding another Technology company that has a percentage of issues as low as Apple has in a pool of devices as large as the one Apple manages.
As a final point, what have you tried to solve the slowness and other issues you are experiencing.  Sometimes software suffers bugs. If resetting the device has not fixed this perhaps a restore may work out.

  • I work at Staples and our demo iPad Air needs to be reset.

My Sales manager has forgotten the password to the iPad Air demo unit.  We will be getting the Air 2 but we need to restore the device.  Our GM is on vacation and we are not 100% sure he knows it.  What can we do so we can restore it?

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

  • IPad Air 2 Distortion

Greetings, fellow Apple People. As you all probably know, the iPad Air 2 has a rather widespread defect which causes the LCD Retina Display to distort and discolorize when any pressure is placed on the right rear of the device. My 128GB iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi edition has been experiencing this problem since I u boxed it several minutes ago, and on my particular unit, it's terrible. Even the slightest tap of a finger on the rear causes severe discoloration on the front display, and there seems to be a permanent faint-blue mark in that spot. Funny thing is, I unboxed the tablet in-store, and immediately reported the problem to an Apple employee. He said "Oh, that looks pretty bad. Let's get you a fresh one." He came out of the back with a new tablet, and he took the liberty of u boxing it and testing it for the issue. It was nowhere near as bad as the one I initially opened, but it still happened. He showed me that it occurred on several of the display models they had out, and happily gave me the new one he opened, where the problem was much less noticeable.
While I'm pleased with Apple's great service, I still wonder why this problem seems to be universal on all iPad Air 2 units. Can anyone tell me if they've gotten a good model? Thanks, the help is greatly appreciated!

  • Replacement iPad Air came scratched on the back

I recently found a dead pixel on my new iPad Air that I bought at Target on Black Friday so I scheduled a genius appointment and had it swapped out for one with a good display. Upon getting home and inspecting it a bit, I noticed that the back of the iPad had minor scratches along the edges. You can imagine my disappointment. I rescheduled an appointment at the Genius Bar but I have a feeling that they're going to tell me that they don't cover cosmetic blemishes even though that's literally how they gave it to me. I guess I got overly confident in apples quality control only to end up with this situation. Does anyone know if they'll be willing to swap out the scratched unit that I received?

I don't know - you'll have to find out from Apple.
I am not speaking for Apple - but here's one question I would ask myself if I were in the same circumstance:
Did you get a brand new iPad as a replacement unit, or a refurbished one?

  • Replacing iPad Air with Yellow Tint?

Hello everyone, I recently received my iPad Air last week from Best Buy and it seems I have the yellow tint issue.
Can I just go to the genius bar and have them replace it or do I have to go to Best Buy?

Actually all LCD screens are constructed from multiple layers which are bonded together, so yes, the screens are "glued" together for want of a better description. There are many layers making up the screen, including the backlight/diffuser, two polarising layers with the actual liquid crystal sandwiched between them, for a lot of displays the touchscreen itself is another layer on top of that (on the iphone and ipad mini its built into the front layer of th eLCD, on the ipad 3 and 4 its a seperate piece of glass laminated onto the top of the LCD - i dont think anyone has sliced through an ipad air yet to find out how the lcdis constructed).  with all of these layers - what do you think holds them together and stops them falling apart??? ifixit wont have mentioned this since you cant delaminate an LCD display without shattering the very thin glass layers off, they just treat the LCD display as a single unit.
And yes there was a well known issue with the iphone 4 where they were shipping the so fast the bonding agent hadnt fully cured, meaning that anywhere on the display it was slightly thicker, it gets slightly yellowish
for my own personal iphone 4, after a 6 week wait for it to finish drying, it was still yellow so they replaced it.
it is perfectly possible that in these ipads, the bonding agent holding the multuiple layers of the touchscreen together not finished curing
