IPad air slow performance
Hello there I bought a new iPad air 32 4g model and I have been noticing slow performance when opening a pictures of an app in the AppStore
knowing that I didn't face this problem an iPad 2 also I have restore the iPad air and still the problem is there
I had a 3rd Generation iPad on iOS 7.0.4. It's what I sold to buy the Air. It was terrible. I mean if the criteria you are using is efficiency and speed in moving around and using the OS, then it was terrible.
Safari was sluggish in scrolling with basic pages, closing apps, opening new ones, the Music app would take 4 to 5 seconds to open with a small library of around 12 to 15 artists. Tapping on items would result in a delay leading you to thinking you missed it and hitting it again.
I think the criteria you are using is "Did it work", then yes. Did it work well? Certainly not. It was a bit like Windows on an Intel Celeron CPU. it worked but drove most of us mad with how poor it performed.

My iPad Air is slow and often hangs. It takes time for apps to open. I have spare memory of 22 GB. Let me know what to do?
(A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
(B) Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings for Wi-Fi, FaceTime, Message, Home Sharing will be reset -
Recently bought a brand new iPad air, however I've found that the graphics run very slow and clunky as compared to even my iPhone 5 running on iOS 7. I've had to turn on "Increase Contrast" and "Reduce Motion" for the device to actually run well. Just wondering why a brand new device with a proclaimed faster processor than the iPhone 5 cannot run as good as the iPhone 5?
Thanks. But could they be incorperating slow motion video and burst mode into the next software update?
Could it be possible for apple's software and hardware engineers to do that? If they could do that it would match a majority of other tablets on the market in terms of photo shooting modes/ features. -
Hi
We are having issues with our iPad air being very slow to charge. We use the charger that came with it but it is very slow, even slower than our original iPad. Is this an issue others are experiencing? Are you sure it's the 12W Ipad charger and not a 5W iPhone charger?
Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.htmlhttp://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. My ipad air started downloading very slow yesterday. I can't watch you tube due to slow download and can't download new software update. I am on wifi only and other devices are working fine on wifi. I have restarted ipad and wifi to no avail. Any suggestions?
Close all apps on the iPad and then reset the device. See if that helps at all.
To close an app, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
Ipad air slow animation after ios8

IPad Air slow downloads since iOS 7.1 update
Since updating to iOS7.1 my iPad Air downloads are extremely slow to non existent. Beyond frustrated..
Try this:
Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies and Data
quit Safari : double click Home button, you will see a bunch of preview windows for all the apps that are open, with the app icon beneath each preview window. Scroll left / right to find the preview window for Safari, after all left-right motion is stopped swipe upward from the Safari preview window (NOT the icon) off the top of the screen
touch Home window or click Home button to exit Preview Mode
reset your iPad: hold both the power button and the Home button down for 10+ seconds until the Apple logo appears. let go promptly when the logo does appear. wait 30 seconds more for you iPad to restart. no data will be lost by resetting -
I'm having WiFi connection speed problem with new iPad Air and Airport-extreme 802.11ac.
I can get over 30Mbps download speed with old iPad2 but with new iPad Air, I get only 7 or 8Mbps.
I saw https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5516013 (Slow WiFi on the new iPad Air). He solve the problem by changing the Channel Bandwidth settings on the router but not such setting on airport-extreme 802.11ac.I have had the same issue but it has not been fixed by renaming the 5Ghz network. We have two iPad Air connected to HH5. I have manged to reproduce the issue described where wifi crashes if streaming and downloading. I can also reproduce on both iPads. Other devices including an iPad2 work fine.
I have even turned off the 2.4GHz and was able to reproduce the issue.
It would be good if others could also repeat the following test.
1. Connect Ipad Air to 5GHz wifi band
2. Stream from bbc iplayer - live channel
3. Download a large app such as Pages / Numbers / Garageband.
Pretty much everytime the wifi crashes. Without downloading apps I can stream without error. Also no issue seen on the 2.4Ghz band.
Apple have asked me to visit Apple store to try and reproduce on their network so hopefully this will prove if it is the iPad or HH5 at fault. -

Can syncing Macbook pro w/ iPad cause slow performance?
Can syncing Macbook Pro, OS 10.9.5, mid-2010 vintage, w/ an iPad slow the performance of the MBPro?
Thanks for the thought. My Macbook Pro is running slow in all ways. I have done all the suggestions given to me in my previous question about "50 second startup" etc. including etrecheck (see below) with nothing helping.I have not reset my directory or typed "purge" in terminal. Should I do them?

IPad AIR 2 - SAFARI Loading slow when scrolling pages
I'm having problems with my iPad AIR 2 with the slow loading web pages with scrolling up and down .
The problem looks like the video posted on YouTube , the video shot by me.
Sorry for my English.
LINK YouTube: https://youtu.be/jYudjQwk7soso I went to the Genius Bar today
the genius ran the usually diagnostic
she said I had a memory issue
she tried to blame it on some old backup restore
but I've never used one
i always start fresh on a new device manually (other than iCloud contacts and bookmarks)
well she wouldn't listen and insisted she restore the device yet again
((vie already done it 2x in the last week)
anyways things were fine for an hour
tthe problem is now back
i made another appointment for Monday
know for a fact this issue does not affect every iPad air 2
there are several in my family
i am beginning to think its an issue with low performing ram
ppossibly apple used two suppliers
i don't want to fail victim to conspiracy theories
but I am extremely ****** off and I will demand a new iPad on monday -
IPad Air WiFi ultra slow speed issues
Having very bad WiFi streaming and general web page loading with new iPad Air, far slower than iPad Gen 1 (iOS 5) and iPhone (iOS 7).
Speed test results using same speed test app all devices pointed to same Clifton NJ server.
Download speeds:
iPad Air: .26 Mbps
iPhone 5: 12 Mbps
iPad 1: 11 Mbps
Mac Pro: 33 Mbps (Ethernet Cat 6 wired) yes I know WiFi is slower, not .26 vs 33 slower
My network:
Motorola SB 6141 Cable modem
All Ethernet wires are Cat 6
D-LINK DIR-655 gigabit router, WiFi should be minimum 100 or 150 Mbps (2.4 only)
Obstructions: very open modern apartment with good physical open shot to router. Bedroom wall vs router. Router is on 45 degree angle 30 feet from devices. Keep in mind that regardless of wall interference, all tests above were done with iDevices in exact same spot from bedroom to test wall interaction.
Result: iPad Air is usually not able to stream anything continuously or in HD ever. Some vid signals are amazingly pixelated to where movie credits are unreadable. So I use my iPad 1 instead for perfect viewing. Something's very wrong.
I assume the router can't differentiate between, however, AppleCare today surmised since I have 2 WiFi devices way out performing the iPad Air, it "may" be it's newer firmware being incompatible with my router, which logically would make sense to account for diff between it and a legacy iPad and modern iPhone.
Some of you online are true network geniuses so I wanted to hear your input for me and others with new iPad Air HD high speed expectations and what configurations to make in Settings and should a new Router be considered 1) because they are faster anyway and 2) if there is an iPad firmware issue with older even still working well routers like the DIR 655.
PS: in comparing configurations between devices, I see the iPad Air under Settings > WiFi > HTTP Proxy > (off, manual or auto)
Is HTTP Proxy an important setting to get max performance. I need to search and read up on it. Setting to Auto did increase dwnld speed from .26 to 9 Mbps.

You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

IPad Air performance: sometimes sluggish and jittery
Since the week I got my iPad Air, I noticed it was fast but not smooth. I have not used a 3rd or 4th generation iPad, so I don't know how much more improved the Air is to those previous generations; however, considering all the effort Apple seems to put into their software and promoting their new high-end 64-bit processor, I am not entirely impressed with the performance of my iPad Air at times.
I consider myself a slightly above average user-- doing a bit more than just surfing the web, checking emails, and using a couple apps. Though, it seems even the simplest of things don't run very smoothly, like scrolling in a book in the iBooks app or a simple web page in Safari tends to be slightly jittery and jumpy. Even scrolling through the newly updated Apple Store app, it is jittery and jumpy while scrolling even if the pictures have completely loaded.
I have tried closing all the apps that are open, but the performance does not change. There was a noticeable difference after closing all apps and restarting the iPad. Though, that shouldn't be necessary...
