Ipad air vs macbook air for personal use

ipad air vs macbook air , what is the difference? personal use

One is a tablet and one is a laptop computer. I have an iPad and a MacBook Air and for my uses the MacBook is by far the main one that I use because it has a keyboard. I find it much easier to use for anything that involves more than very minimal typing.

  • Macbook air or iPad air for mobile use with iMac at home

Ok i have a 2012 21 imac and i love this machine. I also have a 2013 13 macbook air for mobil use at work and in class. I am considering though selling the Macbook air and strictly getting an iPad air for my mobile computing needs. I already always use iCloud for all my doc and i don't do anything beyond taking notes for class, web browsing, email, iMessage and occasionally remote desktop support support for things at work on my macbook air. I believe an iPad air could fill all those needs and with something like the clam case pro for the iPad air when it comes out would be perfect for my desire to always type on a real keyboard instead of a virtual one. but I'm still a little unsure. Ive had a laptop and a desktop since 2005 so I'm a little apprehensive to ditch the laptop in favor of a tablet.
What are everyones thoughts and advice?

Personally, the iPad is NOT a very good laptop replacement and you are getting a much more limited mobile OS.
If you already have a MacBook Air, it is a more capable mobile device and has the instant on capability as an iPad.
With your MacBook Air, you get the full OS X operating experience, also.
Plus, iPads do not have a bulit-in keyboard and trackpad and doesn't have all of the ports and connections your MacBook Air has.
Plus, your MacBook Air has a bigger screen, more RAM and more hard drive storage than an iPad.
An iPad is a downgrade from your MacBook Air.
Why would you even consider a downgrade to an iPad from a much more capable MacBook Air.
Stick with your MacBook Air. It is head and shoulders much better mobile Apple device than iPad.

Go to Settings > iCloud > Delete Account, and enter your Apple ID password. Then sign in with the new ID.
NOTE: "Delete Account" just means it will be deleted from the iPad. The account itself will not be deleted.

  • Does anybody know if the ipad air 1 is using yosemite or something different? I don't know what type of safari i should install because it disappeared from the ipad. Thanks!

YYosemite is a Mac OS and it doesn't run on an iPad. You cannot delete or install Safari on the iPad. It is on your device somewhere.
Swipe from screen to screen to look for it.
Check Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure that you didn't disable it.
You can also reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

  • HT4059 I have IPad Air. I use Drop Box. Downloaded manuscript with Ipad air does not down load completely, no images. I  used Ipages, and Files Pro. Mac IOS does it and windows XP.

when I download a manuscript from my DropBox to My  Ipad air, it does not open Images and some contents are not aligned, yet if  I  download from MyMac or XP it works. On  Ipad air I have used the Dropbox, Pages and files Pro. What is wrong?

There is an Apple document which specifies that key 1 should be used for WEP configuration and recommends using WPA or WPA2 for wireless security: iPad: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections. It's too bad that you didn't find this when you had problems.
The iPad will work with WPA-TKIP or WPA2-AES. AES provides much stronger security. There is much misinformation on the Internet on this subject.
WEP is insecure, obsolete and has been deprecated by the IEEE since 2004. There is no chance that Apple or anyone else will waste resources on enhancing WEP implementations. For more information on the tattered history and vulnerabilities of WEP read this: WEP - Wired Equivalent Privacy
I'm glad to hear that you got your system working. Your post was well-written and might help someone else.

  • How can I empty my sandbox on my ipad air for several apps?

how can I empty my sandbox on my ipad air for several apps?

I'm not sure what you mean by "sandbox". I presume you're talking about getting extra room on your "hard drive" (it's not a hard drive, but a flash drive, I suppose ... ).
If so, then just go to Settings --> General --> Usage ... and you have three sections on that page ... "Battery", "Storage", "iCloud" ... look at the second section where it says "Storage" and go to "Manage Storage" ... and you can start deleting apps that you're not using or are too big for your available space.
Later on (soon), you'll be able to clear off some photos from your flash drive on your iPad and that will help clear off some space, but that's not up and running just yet. It's the "iCloud Photo Storage" service that Apple has announced. It will be coming very soon.

  • HT3819 I am a teacher. I have an iPhone and iPad for personal use.  I also have an iPod and now an iPad for school use.  Would it be best for me to use home sharing on all 4 devices, or should I split my account and have separate accounts for home & schoo

My first i device was an iPod touch that I was given for use in my classroom.  Then I got an iPhone for personal use.  Both items are listed under the same username and account.  Since then I now have 2 iPads, one for home and one for work.  I have many apps that are only for work like Math Zombie and Science Facts, and many that are for personal use, like Facebook and YouVersion.  I know that I can synch each device and tell iTunes which apps go on which device.  However at home I use a Mac, and my school computer is a PC.  I am wondering if I should split my account and keep personal separate from work.  Then I can synch all school related devices on the PC and home devices on the Mac.  I realize that there maybe the rare occaision that I might want one app for both accounts.  That's the chance I take on splitting my account.  Are there ay benefits one way or the other?

Will you be the person paying for apps on both accounts?
Are you the only person that will use both of the iPads?
Is there a chance students will be using the work iPad and if so, do you want personal data stored on it?
If you're the only one using it I'd keep the same account just to have the flexibility of having access to everything on all devices. If your students will be using it or if the school is paying for the school apps I'd keep separate accounts. It all depends on how often you will use school apps from home, and home apps at school. Just some things to consider...

I have bought new iPad air for the new app I book apple charged 1$. On the web sit it's say free .

If you have recently created a new iTunes account, the $1 charge will most likely be for account verification. The money will be refunded shortly.

  • HT5163 is there any difference in packaging of ipad air for india and other countries because i've not gotten a sim eject tool for my IPAD AIR? Plz help.

Is there any difference in packaging of IPAD AIR for INDIA and other countries?
because i didn't get any sim eject tool in IPAD AIR box.

I believe it does vary depending on country.  A paper clip works equally well, so I wouldn't get too upset.

Just create a new AppleID for your work.
As Allan suggested, items purchased on one iTunes account cannot be moved to the other account.
However, you can put items purchased on on account onto the other iPhone.

  • Financial software for personal use?

I just bought my blackberry bold yesterday and I'm not sure which financial software to use.
Has anyone used Ascendo or any of the other money management programs? Which ones do you prefer?
I'm looking for something that's more for personal use than business expenses etc.

You mean Quicken '07, I assume? There is no Mac version of Quicken '08. I use both Quicken '07 and MoneyDance. The latter is still rough around the edges, but I support it since I'd like to see some real competition in the field given Intuit's legendary second-class treatment of Mac users and the Mac platform (charging more for less features and almost never fixing bugs).
Plus I think it's slimy to intentionally BREAK online features after a version is three years old like Quicken does. I fully understand desupporting an old version, but intentionally disabling functionality (in the consumer software world) is just crummy on another level. I've also used the beta of the replacement for Quicken '07, and it's pretty lousy so far.

With the Nanos, you should have no problem lending them loaded with audiobooks from Librivox, etc.
As for the iPod Touches, I'm not sure the question is whether you should allow patrons to set up the device for personal accounts, but whether you can prevent them from doing so. Prepare to to a factory restore every time one is returned.
