IPad Air WiFi ultra slow speed issues

Having very bad WiFi streaming and general web page loading with new iPad Air, far slower than iPad Gen 1 (iOS 5) and iPhone (iOS 7).
Speed test results using same speed test app all devices pointed to same Clifton NJ server.
Download speeds:
iPad Air: .26 Mbps
iPhone 5: 12 Mbps
iPad 1: 11 Mbps
Mac Pro: 33 Mbps (Ethernet Cat 6 wired) yes I know WiFi is slower, not .26 vs 33 slower
My network:
Motorola SB 6141 Cable modem
All Ethernet wires are Cat 6
D-LINK DIR-655 gigabit router, WiFi should be minimum 100 or 150 Mbps (2.4 only)
Obstructions: very open modern apartment with good physical open shot to router. Bedroom wall vs router. Router is on 45 degree angle 30 feet from devices. Keep in mind that regardless of wall interference, all tests above were done with iDevices in exact same spot from bedroom to test wall interaction.
Result: iPad Air is usually not able to stream anything continuously or in HD ever. Some vid signals are amazingly pixelated to where movie credits are unreadable. So I use my iPad 1 instead for perfect viewing. Something's very wrong.
I assume the router can't differentiate between, however, AppleCare today surmised since I have 2 WiFi devices way out performing the iPad Air, it "may" be it's newer firmware being incompatible with my router, which logically would make sense to account for diff between it and a legacy iPad and modern iPhone.
Some of you online are true network geniuses so I wanted to hear your input for me and others with new iPad Air HD high speed expectations and what configurations to make in Settings and should a new Router be considered 1) because they are faster anyway and 2) if there is an iPad firmware issue with older even still working well routers like the DIR 655.
PS: in comparing configurations between devices, I see the iPad Air under Settings > WiFi > HTTP Proxy > (off, manual or auto)
Is HTTP Proxy an important setting to get max performance. I need to search and read up on it. Setting to Auto did increase dwnld speed from .26 to 9 Mbps.
Thanks.

You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

My Ipad Air wifi is extremely slow. I have seen online this is an issue. I have read responses but still confused. Ipad 1 worked fine.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. • IPad Air wifi sync a lot slower than iPhone 5s?

I just got my new iPhone 5s yesterday and found out that its wifi syncing to itunes is a lot faster than the iPad Air I bought a few days ago. Actually iPad Air wifi syncing is so much slower than iPhone 5s, almost half speed, just as slow as wifi syncing with my iPhone 4, is this normal?
I've tested another iPad Air of my friend, and found out that his new iPad is as slow as mine. Anyone know WHY? Is there anything / settings we're missing?
I have the latest AirPort Extreme as wifi router.

It's not much help but here is another thread with similar problems.

  • Iso8 will not download to my IPad Air WiFi it says notification has been sent and I must wait, 24 hours?

Hi, last night I updated my IPhone 4s over home wifi with no problems but I've also been trying to update my IPad Air WiFi which just keeps telling me that a notification has been sent to Apple and I have to wait for the update, that's been the case now for over 20 hours? Please can some one tell me what I've done wrong and how do I fix it.
    MAny thanks.... marldonman.

Last night there weren't millions and millions of new iPhone users all trying to activate and fill their devices up with apps.
This is prime time for the US but also early evening in the UK and europe, so lots of people all trying to do the same thing.
my experience wednesday and last night was that I didn't get decent download speed until 8-9pm central time

  • How do I transfer all my data from an iPad Air wifi 32 GB to a brand new iPad Air 2 64GB?

I received right now a brand new iPad Air2 wifi 64 GB. How do I transfer ALL MY DATA from another iPad Air wifi 32 GB ?

Back up your old one. I use and prefer iTunes, but back up all the data, etc.
Then unplug it. Plug your new one in and go through the setup steps. When you see the option to set up as new or restore from the backup you just made, choose that and your new iPad will be a near clone of the old one.

  • Is there no GPS in ipad air wifi model ??

Is there no GPS in ipad air wifi model ??

Apple doesnt integrate GPS on the Wi-Fi only models, but you can still locate yourself and use Location Services only if you are connected through Wi-Fi. The cellular + Wi-Fi models are more precise on GPS as they use cellular signals to pinpoint accuracy of your location.
If you meant GPS as in Car GPS, it will be tough to drive with a Wi-Fi only model as it will keep asking you to join networks every time your out of range. Otherwise, the Cellular+ WiFi can support connection almost wherever you go.

Can I use the sim from my iphone 5c in the ipad air wifi+cellular?

Both the iPad Air and iPhone 5C use a nano-SIM. Physically, they will work, but your operator may have some restriction. You should check with them.

  • Can i get sprint internet service put on a ipad air+wifi

I want to get the internet on my ipad air+wifi?

Unless you purchased a Sprint-model iPad, then as AmishCake said, you cannot. If you do have a Sprint-model iPad, post back with details about the problem and someone can probably offer suggestions. If you not have a Sprint-model iPad, then a "MiFi" device for Sprint or tethering through a Sprint cellphone will be your only options.
    Regards.

  • I want to change Ipad Air wifi to Ipad Air wifi Cellular.

I have bought Ipad Air wifi but now I want Ipad Air Wifi + Cellular.. could I just go and ask to do it at Reception and Pay Extra money for it...?

If you purchased it within the past 14 days and you have the original sales receipt, then that is exactly what you would do. Bring it back for a refund, and then purchase the upgraded iPad.

There are many people using the basic (i5) 2012 MacMini and even older ones to edit complex films in FCP X so you should have no problems.
I have been using FCP 7 and FCP X since they came out on my 2008 iMac Core 2 Duo and am thinking of getting the same model as you rather than pay the astronomic price for a new 27" iMac.
The performance won't be quite as fast but it will be at least 4 times faster at rendering than my old iMac.

  • I want ipad air wifi - celluar work in Egypt

You need to tell us what you are doing to try to connect to the network.  Your Air won't connect on it's own.  You have to find the network and connect.

  • IPhone 5s vs iPad Air: wifi speeds

Recently my broadband connection has been upgraded from 60mbps to 100. Yesterday I performed a speedtest on both my iPhone 5s and iPad Air. The air showed download speed of 97mbps but the 5s showed only 41. This is on virgin media using their superhub.
Are there any likely reasons for such differences? Could it indicate a problem with my 5S?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
Although both the iphone and ipad both support 2.4GHz and 5GHz along the same wifi card the ipad had MIMO technology which stands for multiple-input and multiple-output, the use of multiple antennas at both the transmitter and receiver to improve communication performance this could be your difference, so i would say there is anything wrong with your iphone
    Hope this helps

  • Ipad air wifi issues

    Hi,
i have ipad air. i cannot connect to internet. i took it back to apple store and they replaced it twice. the same problems. at this point i just want my money back. they donot want to give my money back. any advice about how i can get my money back? i will never buy another apple product again.

If you have had three iPads which could not connect to your WiFi network then there is something wrong with your network.
Note: Do NOT consider your network to be blameless if some other devices can connect to it.
Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power for 30 seconds. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.
If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.
