Hello there, Cherdsak.
It can certainly be disheartening having an issue with a newly purchased device. The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for troubleshooting issues with sound on your iOS device:
If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support
Follow these steps and test the sound after each one.
Go to Settings > Sounds and drag the Ringer And Alerts slider to turn the volume up.
If you can hear sound from the speaker, then the speaker works. Continue with these steps to find the setting or switch that's affecting the sound. If you can't hear sound from the speaker, contact Apple Support.
Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is set to ring. If you can see orange, it's set to silent.
Restart your device.
Open an app that has music or sound effects. Adjust the volume with the volume buttons or the slider in Control Center.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn off Bluetooth.
If there's still no sound, connect a headset. If you can hear sound through the headset, remove it and clear any dust or debris from the headset jack of your device.
If the device is in a case, make sure that the case doesn't block the speaker.
Use a brush to gently clear any debris from the speaker and Lightning connector (or 30-pin dock connector). The brush should be clean and dry and have soft bristles.
Update your device to the latest version of iOS.
If you followed these steps and still hear no sound or distorted sound, contact Apple Support.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
Pedro.

  • IPad air2 and sound

I have iPad air2. Is running 8.1.3 and I keep losing sound from the speakers. Will still work using my buds.  If I do a restart the sound starts working. I thought that it might be an app but doing a restart and tried only running music app it will happen. I then thought that it happened coming out of sleep but this is not the case. Last night the sound was working but this morning the sound was gone. Yesterday I had to restart the iPad 4 times. Any ideas on whats causing this. Thanks

Maybe it's a software glitch or it could still be an app. Are you closing all apps completely or merely suspending use of the apps while using the Music app? If not closing the apps, go ahead and force close all apps and then reset the iPad and see if that makes a difference.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that fails, try this. Reset all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.

  • Ibooks author on ipad air2

This must be easier than I'm making it, but I've just bought a new Ipad Air2 and can't get Ibooks Author on to it at all. It doesn't appear in App store, and when I email the content it just stores it on drive, which I'm not sure how to access. I may be taking forever to complete the book I'm attempting, but don't want to lose it altogether, and eventually intend to sell the desktop Mac. Anyone any suggestions for this. I'm sure it must be really easy, but am virtually new to tablet use. I have managed all music and photo content, but just can't see how to do this at all. All help really appreciated.

    Have a look at
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/book-creator-for-ipad-create/id442378070?mt=8
But I don't think it is realistic to imagine that an iPad can replace a desktop for what iBooks Author can do.

  • When I placed a video from my camera roll on my ipad to keynote on my ipad I lost sound how do you make sound work?

When i placed a video from my camera roll on my ipad to my keynote presentation on my ipad I lost sound how do I get sound?

Not sure of the answer, but does the sound disappear when it was added to the photo roll, or when you try to import it into Keynote?

  • Is Apple going to manufacture IPAD with improved sound quality?

Is Apple going to manufacture IPAD with improved sound quality?  I don't like to stream movies on IPAD due poor sound quality.

We have no way of knowing Apple's future plans. Speakers or headphones make a huge difference, maybe you can give either of them a try.

  • Just purchased a new iPad and the sound works on Siri, music, videos, alarms, but on games it will not.  Is this a preference or perhaps a defective unit.

  • Synchronizing a new iPad (iPad Air2) with an Existenzgründer account and what to Do with Thomas older iPad  (iPad3)?k

    Hi Folks,
I'm about to order a new iPad Air2, but I already use an older iPad3. How can I synchronize the new one with my account and what is going to happen with my old Pad? Do I have to reset it and what is the exact procedure for doing so? First synchronizIng the new one and then resetting the older one, or the other way around?

You never pay for apps twice (unless you use multiple accounts).  So feel free to delete apps you dont think need to stay on your ipad 2.  When you get your new ipad you can go the app store and go to "purchases" and redownload all your apps free of charge.
However, i suggest that when you set up your ipad you "restore from a back up" of your ipad 2 this way your settings and app data are transfered to your new ipad (this will not effect the old ipad).  But you can have the same app on more that one device, in case you were wondering.

  • The orientation messed up on ipad air2, orientation lock is off

The orientation is fixed the wrong way on my ipad air2, the orientation lock is off, turning the screen does nothing. Turning the orientation lock on will make the screen flip rightside up and then turn upside down immediately. It stays in portrait mode at all times.

    landscape not portrait mode

  • My ipad air2 screen is black and won't come on. I can hear siri but she says she cant work right now. What do I do?

My ipad air2 screen is black and won't come on. I can hear siri but she says she cant work right now. What do I do?

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • My iPad doesn't sound?

    My iPad doesn't sound?

After some tinkering, I have found that that was the problem.
I had the setting for the side switch to lock the rotation rather than mute.
This worked fine for locking and unlocking screen rotation but had a strange effect on mute.
Whether it was on or off, system sounds were muted.
Therefore, I changed the setting to Mute instead of Rotation Lock.  This got me back the sounds.
Once I knew system sounds worked, I then switched Rotation Lock back on and, hey presto, everything OK.
Never even noticed the Mute icon to the left of playback controls (double home and swipe right).  Perhaps that would also fix it.
Thanks for your pointer JimHdk - you were a great help.

  • My iPad air2 has white screen and does not switch on

My iPad Air2 does not turn on. Has a white screen with a black apple logo.
Tried charging it for several hours but nothing happens.
The problem started when the battery was drained.

    Hey bwzdragon,
If your iPad will not start up completely, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
    Specifically -
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Happy computing,
    Brett L

  • Will the applecare MC593Z be ok for iPad air2.

I am looking to purchase Applecare for iPad air2 and was wondering if this product will be ok for it, as it appears to have been discontinued and replaced with Applecare+.
Thanks in advance for any help.

It depends on how you like to do things. I have the 16G and that's perfectly fine for me, since I don't need to keep all my audio and video files on it--I don't at all mind syncing over what I expect to need.
If you want to have access to everything all the time without syncing, then get a larger size.
I didn't expect to want to watch movies on the ipad, either, but it's become my preferred medium for those. Still, I don't mind only having a few on there at a time.

there is no mirror button,  nor is one hidden underneath anywhere.

Not all apps are enabled for airplay, this is up to the developer to do. If you want to mirror, it cannot be turned on within an app. You need to bring up control centre, select airplay and toggle ON mirroring.
