IPad and Camera Kit

I plan on getting the Apple "camera kit" for the iPad, so that I can upload photos and video from a camera while traveling.
Apple says that you will be able to transfer photos AND video.
But I had a question.
I will have a Canon DSLR T2i(rebel) that shoots 1080p HD video as well as 720p as well as 640 x 480 video.
I am also thinking of getting the smaller FLIP camcorders or the Kodak Zi8. They both shoot HD video, but the flip transfers via usb and the kodak has removable SD cards.
Basically, does anybody know if you'll be able to transfer 1080p video clips to the ipad? Or at least 720p HD clips?
Thanks for any and all help or advice concerning this question.
Also...not a question, but I hope Apple releases a "lite" version of iLife(imovie/iweb/garageband) for the ipad, like they did with iwork.
Peace out.

I can't comment on 1080p but 720p videos from my Nikon D90 import and play on the iPad without a problem. RAW files and jpgs also import fine.
I also have a flip video ultra HD that will connect to the iPad and I can copy the files to the iPad but I cannot view them on the iPad. So with regards to the Flip video camera, the iPad can only be used as a backup device.
The weird thing is when I connect the flip video to the iPad, in the import screen, iphoto does show thumbnails for the individual clips. Perhaps, the flip video embeds a jpg thumbnail for sorting, preview, etc. or the ipads can view that file format but apple has decided not to include it in the OS.

  • The new Ipad and camera connection kit with Sony A65 RAW

    Hi,
I recently purchased the "new ipad" with camera connection kit. I'm shooting photos in RAW format with Sony A65 and I have succesfully transferred them into my Ipad. The problem is that none of the applications such as Snapseed, Photoforge2, etc. will display the full 24 megapixel image from the RAW file and will instead show small preview.
It is indicated in support pages of these applications that there should be support for IOS Raw engine supported RAW files with full size. Can someone indicate me what RAW formats are supported by IOS 5.1 and whether support for Sony RAW files will be added.
The same problem persists with 16 megapixel images from Sony A55.
    Thank you in advance.

Thank you, David, but actually your answer is not helpful. As I explained in my opening message, I am interested in buying and using an i-Pad while on a trip in Spain, where I will not have access to a computer, other than, perhaps, one at the Apple Store where I might buy the i-Pad.

  • Import photos from iPhone to iPad with Camera kit

I want to import photos and videos from a concert from my iPhone to my iPad. I took the photos and videos back in October and i had to do a full restore on my iPhone and stared new becuase when i restored from a back up the same issues where still there. So i imported them in iPhoto and imported them back on my iPhone. Now when i connect the iPad camera kit only my camera roll shows up. I transfered all my photos via Photo Stream but i would like the videos too. I know i can import them from iPhoto on my iPad but i want to be able to delete them right on the iPad, like i can if i import them via the camera connector. Is there any way I can do this? I can email them too but i want to have the best quallity. Please help me out!

You most likely can't, as such is not supported by Apple.

  • IMovie on iPad and Camera can't upload my movie to YouTube

I just made a video on iMovie and I've tried many times, but can't upload tot o YouTube. I then saved the video to the Photos app on my iPad and tried to upload it there, but it didn't work there either. I am guessing the problem is with the YouTube app, but I am not sure. everything is recently updated on my iPad. I did notice that on the YouTube app the icon with the three horizontal lines is not avilable for me to select and there is no way I can upload my video using the YouTube app. What should I do to fix this problem??

    Me too,
If I try to upload or save a video to camera rol the progress bar stay on 0% ( the problem isn't with the YouTube app, because I can upload videos with the YouTube app )
I had this problem also with iOS 7 ( progress bar stay on 20% ), so it isn't a bug in iOS 8.

  • Nikon S6000 camera and camera kit

I would like to buy a Nikon S6000. Does someone know for sure if it is compatible with the iPad camera kit?
Also where exactly can I find a list of compatible cameras?
    Thanks

but just so you know the camera is a pain, a lot of problems with it, charging, picture quality, it's just easier to get a canon

  • Will iPad + USB camera kit adaptor + Apple USB ethernet adaptor work?

I saw this mentioned in another forum. Does anybody have any experience in this matter? I am a bit skeptical, because it would involve an additional piece of hardware in the iPad and I figure Apple would have said something about it. Thanks in advance.

It works with keyboards and headsets-so who knows.
Try it and let us know.

  • Quite disgusted that the flash drive and camera kit don't work with apples usual ease and style. Fix it and redeem yourselves.

when will you fix this issue?

We are just fellow users here, these forums are not monitored by Apple - if you want to leave feedback for Apple then you can do so here http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
But in terms of the camera connection kit, it works as it is specified- as an SD card reader and as a direct connection to a camera. It is not advertised as being a flash drive connection kit.

  • HT4101 ipad ios6 camera kit doesn't support nikon d3200? ios5 did.

So I have  trouble with the Camera Connection Kit. I have a Nikon D3200 24MP. And before the upgrade to ios6 it could read the SD from the camera.  After ios 6, the photo app can display/make the thumbnails but it can't transfer the photos.  All I get is a red exclamation.  Now when I use the same SD with a Sony Cybershot HXV 200 16MP  it can display the thumbnails and transfer the photos.
    So what's up?

To solve the problem for the Nikon D600 I have to completely close the Photo App, which is used to import photos. Double Press the button on the IPad to show recently used apps. Press on the Photo App icon and hold until the the icon gets a red minus mark and starts to "wobble". By clicking the red minus the app icon (and with it some states that hinder the photo import) disappear. After that connecting the camery connection kit and importing my Nikon D600 full resolution picture works again.

  • IPad and camera import

I'm having trouble importing video from a small HD video camera. It's called a Go pro hero HD..very popular with race cars.. other brand seem to transfer video just fine. My question is are there certain formats of video that will not mesh with my iPad?
So, I guess I need the approver formants that iPad handles.
    Thanks

    From the iPad tech specs:
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
A good program for the Mac that should convert it to an iPad supported format is HandBrake.

  • I recently uploaded some pics and videos from an ipad and a camera. I put them all on Iphoto and backed them up in my personal folder. I then trimmed one of the videos and dragged and dropped that into the master folder(pictures). Its now gone!! HELP!?!?!

I rencently added all my photo's from my Ipad and Camera. There were photos and videos on both. The import was done through Iphoto and then transfered to my backup in my pictures folder. I then took one of my videos and trimmed it and then addded that trimmed version to my back up(pictures)albumn. It asked If i wanted to replace existing photo or cancel and I hit replace. Now the file plays great on Iphoto but I am unable to share it through any form(facebook, Imessage etc) and in my back up(pictures) it says the file in only 87kb. I dragged and dropped it from Iphoto to the desk top along with another important video, when I hit get info on both of them one of them is a full sized video(50mb or whatever) and the other one(the one I am trying to recover) is only the 87kb. I want this full file avaiable to me how can I get it back?? it is already deleted off the camera??? please please help me.

    Garret,
is your movie in your backup folder a Quicktime movie? Then probably only have the Quicktime wrapper in your backup folder, but not the referenced media in the file fork of the movie. If you see the full quality movie in iPhoto in QuickTime player, don't drag it from the browser to the Desktop, but use "File > Reveal in Finder > Original File" to show the movie in your iPhoto Library. Select the Movie when it is revealed and ctrl-click it to open it in Quicktime Player.
Export it from Quicktime Player with "Export to" and share it to iTunes. This way it will be converted to a .mp4 movie that embeds the missing resources.
You can drag the converted movie from iTunes to the Desktop or share it using to Media Browser to other applications.

  • HT201302 When I travel with my SLR I like to transfer all photos to the iPad so that they are more easily edited and viewed by others, using the camera kit.  Occasionally I would like to export photos - I have not found a way to do this.  Can you help?

I occasionally have the need to export photos from the iPad to an SD card (photos that were imported using the camera kit). This is useful for e.g. to print photos while travelling.  So far I have not found this functionality anywhere, including in any apps available on iTunes.  Can anyone help?

The camera connection kit can only be used to import photo/video files from a camera, SD card or USB flash drive. You can't import other types of files. You can't export any type of files using the camera connection kit.

  • Export videos and pictures from an ipad to a camera kit using a sd card

i need to export videos and images from ipad mini to sd card using a camera kit, please help, and if so what app do i need to do that.

i did find another "scenic route" around, but it has some limitations, yet might be beneficial.
there is an ipad app called Easy Transfer. basically, it works through the web. you type in a web address it give you, and you can transfer files via the "refresh" button on your browser, and through your ipad.
the downer is, if you have a so-so internet connection, data is lost on video filles. i tried to transfer even a one minute video file, and it was missig frames when it got to my mac...sigh.
but, hey...it is another option, perhaps for some of you with cable modem or supa-fast webby web! ;-)

  • Can iPad 3 utilise the camera kit to play music and video directly?

I would like to know if the ipad 3 is able to read music and video from the camera kit without all sorts of nasty jailbreaking.
I guess it could be the case that Apple do not allow this in the hope of selling larger capacity Ipads, but on the other hand its not rocket science to allow this either.
Any other suggestions for occational storage usage (ie when I am away on holiday or for work) appriciated
    thanks

  • IPad Camera Kit and Dell SX2210 LCD monitor

My Dell SX2210 has a built in 3.2 megapixel camera built into the monitor. Any chance if I buy the iPad camera kit and plug it into my iPad the plug and play might work? I have read on forums that some users have success with this monitor's camera on MacBook Pros and Mac minis.
Any idea if this setup might work?

I am not sure but I think not.
The camera connection kit seems to look for image files in a camera type directory structure.
The monitor camera probably outputs a live video feed. Is this correct?

  • Hi, my iPad and the camera connection kit is completely useless to me, ever since the update where Apple restricted the device from connecting to certain external devices. I've tried everything, but is there eny way I can get rid of this?

    Hi,
My iPad and the camera connection kit is completely useless to me, ever since the update where Apple restricted the device from connecting to certain external devices. I've tried everything, but is there any way I can get rid of this annoying problem? The bottom line is that I'll stay away from apple, because they basically make it so the devices control you, and you don't control the devices. I've even jail broken to try and fix this. I need my USB drives to work as they have many folders. Formatting doesn't work, so it is definetly down to the software and it's restrictions.
    Please help.

The camera connection kit is to be used to connect a camera or an SD card and transfer photos/video. You can't fault them for something that happened to work and doesn't any longer. There are drives like the seagate available if you need access to extra storage
