IPad and Content Redirect in Citrix not playing MP4.
We are trying to enable Content Redirect in a Citrix environment to play videos and show PDFs through a Wiki. We can get the PDFs to show but the videos are not working consistantly. Our assumption was that Content Redirect was not compatable with Apple and Content Redirect would default and open IE in Citrix. However, when testing on MAC Book Pro Contect Redirect works and the videos open in different versions Safari. Why would the videos not work on th iPad?
Hmm... I guess I did, but I don't know why.
I just went to a blog entry with a video: lerner.net/snuggle-bird on my iPad running the latest iOS (just upgraded yesterday) and the embedded YouTube video seems to work fine.
Perhaps you can compare the code on my page with your page and see what's different?

I am not sure if you really understand the issue at hand. Possibly that you are just scanning, not reading the whole text, or simply that you just want to close a thread with your last words or derail it for whatever strange reason. So far you have been more destructive than helpful, but again this could be ignorance at best.
If you would have had the decency to read the entire thread you would have come to the conclusion that every manufacturer, I came across, has posted FAQ's to this issue but Apple. Find a short excerpt below:

Just got on my Ipad and it says it has not been backed up for 4 weeks. It will not let me turn it off, unlock it, and when I press OK it does nothing.
Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

and follow one of the "paths" to get what you need or to an Apple customer support employee. One path is to click Contact Support at the bottom of the list of choices, and use the Express Lane.
The iTunes app also has a way to report a problem with a purchase. Select iTunes Store in the sidebar (of the iTunes window). Toward the upper right corner, click on your Apple ID. This gets you to your Account Information screen. Find Purchase History and click See All. On that screen, you can select a specific purchase with that problem, and Report a Problem.

I applied a template to a page with SWFs and now that page does not play the SWFs. Why?
I applied a template to a page with SWFs and now that page does not play the SWFs (just a blank area where the SWF should be). When I detach the template it will play the flash file. This site will eventually be updated via Adobe Contribute. And I just discovered that when applying a template to a page that uses HTML datasets (Master/Detail),it no longer reads the Master/detail regions and displays a blank. Any thoughts?
[Moved to Dreamweaver forum by moderator]Firstly, you shouldn't really 'apply' a template to a page, you should create a child page by going to FILE>NEW>Page from Template. Too many things can happen when applying a template the way you are doing it. eg:; editable and non-editable regions not matching up and being asked where to place these regions and in all likelihood, you end up with 2 or more of the same region.
When a swf file is inserted into a page, a corresponding Scripts folder is written automatically is stored in the root of the site - it is also linked to in the head of the document. What I believe is happening is that when you apply a template to the page, the Template has no idea that there is a swf file on the page and is not aware of the correct link to the Scripts folder. If you do a test and add the swf file to the template page itself, I bet that the links to the swf and the scripts folder are correct - because DW knows the correct path to the script file. Hence the reason the page probably works when you detach it from a template. -

the DCIM folder is just a folder called DCIM . Just like a camera would create, so does the iPad. Both your videos and your photos are located inside that folder.
In Windows Explorer: Computer\iPad's Name\Internal Storage\DCIM
Instead of Rick's iPhone it will have your iPad's name. whatever it may be. -

If the book isn't on your computer's iTunes then you should be able to copy it from the iPad by connecting the iPad to your computer and in iTunes doing File > Transfer Purchases and you can then sync it to the iPhone (connect the iPhone to your computer, select it on the left-hand side of iTunes, and use the Books tab on the right-hand side to select and sync that book). Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Unsync all music and videos and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

Safari will not play .mp4 movies
I upload a .mp4 movie to my server and Safari cannot play it. It displays a mass of numbers and such.
I found an article online that says to add a .htaccess file to my server at the, infamous, "root level"... what's this guy smokin'??? Could this possibly work? Has anyone had a similar experience with Safari not playing .mp4 videos? (They play just fine in QT Player)
ThanksIf you are having problems playing MPEG4 video in Quicktime 7.4 (and Apple are aware that some users have had such problems) you should carefully check in
/Library/Quicktime and
/Library/Internet Plug-ins and
Home/Library/Quicktime
to check whether you have any third party plug-ins that are not completely up to date.
Current versions of Flip4Mac and DiVX and Perian do NOT cause failure alone or in combination. However the one SPECIFIC extension that ALWAYS causes the failure alone or in groups is 3ivxMediaImp. All other 3ivx extensions DO work. Remove only that ONE SPECIFIC extension.
Please try this and see if it fixes your problem with QT Player, the QT Firefox Plugin, and iTunes not playing MPEG4 files (including mp4 files).
Older 3ivx and DivX components are often incompatible with new QuickTime versions and are, in many cases, obviated by component packs like Perian.
This is not the only explanation for issues with MPEG4 file playback in QuickTime 7.4 and later, however. The issue with videos from democracynow.org and others, for instance, is the result of that content not complying with MPEG4 standards (namely that they use bogus track dimensions). QuickTime had previously ignored invalid track dimensions but this was changed in order to support properly authored anamorphic content.
The recent update to QT 7.4.1 has fixed a number of issues but some problems are unavoidable when working with non-standards compliant content. The standards are important for many reasons including keeping hackers from manipulating improperly coded web pages.
However, there is a workaround (also the basis for why those files will still play in iTunes): there are a few ways to trick QuickTime into ignoring the invalid track data. For instance, rename the files .3GP and they'll show up just fine.
Post back if you want a list of the plug-ins you should have in order to play pretty much anything in Quicktime. -
I have a new IPAD and just bought APple TV. Need to set up home sharing on my account and have followed Support options wherein you log into ITunes, choose advanced, then allow Home sharing. There is no place to even sign in to ITunes as i have always seen before. Cannot start ITunes on Laptop (linked to IPAD) at all but can from Browser. You don't share content from AppleTV (as it contains no content) and you can AirpPlay from iPad to AppleTV, not share content.
To turn on Home Sharing on the iPad, Settings > Store.
THis allow soyu to view the content of the iTune slibrary on your comnoputer.
