IPad and iPhone sync thru the cloud
I can't get my calendar on my iPad to sync with my iPhone anymore. When I first turned on the iCloud on both devices it worked but now unless I actually enter a calendar date directly into my phone it will not transfer to my iPad. I sync my phone to my outlook calendar and when I do this the new dates frommy computer appear in my phone but not on my iPad. It's the same for my contacts. Any suggestions?
If I am not mistaken that is how it is intended to work. Check in the calendars app on your iPhone and at the top how many calendars does it say it syncing. Also check your iPad for the same think. It could also be that on the iPad you are showing the outlook calendar. But, I'm pretty sure it only syncs iCloud calendars.

Oh nice, there's a PassKeeper application for the iPhone and iPad. Simply install it and it should talk you through steps, otherwise their website is probably a great place to check.

How do I get my iPad and IPhone synced where if I delete an email off one it is deleted off the other device? I can get all the Apps and music from one to the other but why won't the emails I delete off one not delete off the other? Is there anyway where I can make this happen?
As James says, make sure that you are using the IMAP servers for your email. You will need to check the help pages for your email provider to get the correct settings in all your devices. POP really doesn't fit the needs of todays mutiple access, always on internet, so you are better off moving to IMAP.

I have set up all the iCloud on my iPad and iPhone both are the latest version but they don't seem to sinc with each other does this take some time? I am connected to the Internet via wifi do I need to turn the mobile data to on on both maybe??

You need to turn the services you want to sync (calendars, contacts etc) on on both devices from settings > iCloud. -
I'm not able to update Smurf's Village. Tried most of the things proposed on the net including restarting the iPad and trying syncing with the computer. Had a similar issue with another application. Had to delete and reinstall it, with all history lost.
Tried following up with the developer's instruction. Didn't help. Developer suggested contacting Apple if their instruction didn't work. Tried the various methods recommended on the Apple site. Same result.Telling is that you tried most of the things on the net doesn't tell us exactly what you did try, so we are all still left to guess .....
Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again
If that doesnt work - go to Settings>General>Date and Time - set the date ahead by a few months. Try to update again. If you get an error message of any kind - go back and change the date and time to automatic again. Then try again.
If that doesn't work, restart your router and reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -
I just got a new IPAD and transferred everything through the cloud from my old IPAD 2. The new one says "this IPAD is currently being restored. It has been that way for over two hours. Also, I Books opens and then closes right away with no content. Does it take this long, or is there an issue?
I also tried manually underlining a few things on the new iPad and when highlighting a paragraph, it would skip a few lines and the line would go through a few as well. Looks like a major iBooks glitch needs to be addressed here.

How do I sync both an iPad and iPhone 4 to the same iMac?
I am combining the functions of a PC desktop and PC Laptop onto a new iMac. I do have VMware's Fusion to run Windows 7 Home Premium, but I'd really like to sync both my iPad (first generation) and iPhone 4 to the Mac and move away from the Windows platform. I used to sync each device to a separate PC. How can I sync both devices to the iMac? In addition, with iCloud, can I determine which apps are synced to each device since some apps are designed for the iPhone and don't have corresponding iPad versions (with full screen size). There are apps for the iPad only that shouldn't be synced to the iPhone. I'd appreciate any advice from folks who sync two portable devices to one Mac system.
Just plug the two devices into the Mac, as if the other one didn't exist. iTunes will keep them separate and allow you control sync of apps and media content as you wish.
As to iCloud, for the iTunes in the Cloud feature, if you use the same iTunes Store account on both the iPad and the iPhone, you'll want to turn off the automatic download option in the Settings -> Store preference pane on your devices. Then you can sync, download and update as you wish on each device.

when trying to backup and sync my ipad and iphone to itunes it does not appear in the upper right hand corner under devices for me to click on
In that same window - the one where you see your backups - click on the box at the bottom that say -Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads form syncing automatically. Then click OK and quit iTunes.
Connect your iPad to the computer and launch iTunes. Right click on the iPad name on the left side under the devices heading and select - Restore from backup. A window will pop up from which you can select any of the backups that you have for the iPad. Select the backup that you want to restore from and then go agreed and restore the iPad. Sync with iTunes when you are done.
Remember that when you restore from a backup - you restore everything in that backup to the iPad. You cannot selectively restore content. It is all or none. -
I use outlook 2007to manage both contacts and calendar. I have a new iPhone 5. Is the bestr way to update iCloud to do manual iTune updates and then sync to the iCloud.
You want to avoid syncing calendars and contacts with both iCloud and iTunes. Doing so will result in the creation of duplicates. If you want to sync your iPhone calendar and contacts with iCloud, consider also syncing your computer with iCloud (requires Vista SP2 or higher and Outlook 2007 or higher). iCloud will then keep the calendar and contacts on your phone in sync with Outlook without using iTunes. (You would still, of course, continue to sync with iTunes for your other iTuens media.)

IBOOKS on iPAD and iPHONE Sync?

Pretty simple: I have an iPad2 and iPhone 4S. iBooks on both. Recently just purchased my first two books via iBooks store on the iPad. I checked settings on both iPad and iPhone and I have sync turned ON. I have iCloud (not sure this matters). Why don't the books appear on my iPhone?

GreggThe best way I found to sync PDFs in iBooks between all your IOS Devices and a Mac is to TICK the "Sync with this (Your iDevice) over Wi-Fi" setting which is found in the "Summery" when you open iTunes on your Mac and select your iDevice from the top let corner of your iTunes window or from the left side column in the Playlist amd Apply.

IPad and iPhone sync pictures problem.
When I try to sync my iPad and iPhone it will get within the last 3 pictures then stop giving me an APPCRASH error message. Then iTunes will shut down. No matter what I do to increase or decrease the number of pictures it always stops 3rd from the last.

Our family has three iPhones with the latest OS4 software. I am thinking of buying an iPad and I was curious if the three iPhones can be synced with the iPad if it is installed with the latest iTunes version. My intent is to eventually migrate completely off of my laptop and use only the iPad and iPhone. My photos, tunes and videos would reside permanently on the iPad. Thanks for your comments.
The ipad would sync to the laptop, just like any of the iPhones. It is not designed to be used without a computer. Any backups, software updates, etc, need to be done while tethered to a computer with your iTunes account installed on it.
CAN you use it on it's own after the initial sync? Sure. But if something happens to it (Hardware, software, stolen, <insert catastrophe here>) you will have no way to recover any of the data and will have to start from scratch all over again.
Can you sync the iPhones directly to the iPad? No, not at all. -
Ipad and iphone syncing problems results in lost work

Sorry if this is treated elsewhere but i couldnt quite find it. I got pages for the flexibility of being able to use both the ipad and iphone to work on the same document and it worked fine at first but now the iphone is having trouble syncing automatically. Now it asks me to resolve a conflict and choose between different versions of the document. I chose the one with the latest timestamp but it wasnt actually the latest version of the document from the ipad. When i went back to the ipad it didn't give any option except to click ok to accept the changes and so reverted my document to an earlier state. I lost all the work i did today and the undo button did nothing but go back to the last changes made to that earlier version of the doc.
I realize there is little hope for restoring my work. I use a webdav account to back up to but unfortunately hadnt done an upload today. From now on I'll be doing it every ten minutes but i really shouldn't have to.
Does anyone have any advice for this? Or at least an email to complain to the developers about their syncing procedure?Looks like I had similar problem today. I was working on my MacBook on pages and then about an hour later I made some changes on my iPad. This morning it looks like I have to resolve a conflict of having two documents and I have to choose one.

How can I differentiate between iPad and iPhone iMessages for the same contact?
I have my sister in law's email and phone number all in the same contact. She iMessages me from both her iPad and her phone. They come up as two different iMessage conversations, but they both are under her name. When I go to text her I don't know if I'm sending it to her iPhone or iPad. Anyone know if there's anyway to differentiate? Sometimes looking at what was previously said in the conversation helps but I can't always remember (nor do I know which device he was messaging me from in the previous convo). Thanks all
Try scrolling to the top of the conversation and tapping Contact. You will then see the originating address highlighted in blue on the contact. If the iPad and iPhone are creating two different conversations, chances are if the email address is highlighted it's coming from the iPad; if the phone number is highlighted it's coming from the iPhone (although not necessarily). To know for sure you would have to ask her to check Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and tell you which is checked under "Start new conversations from" on both devices to know for sure.

The computer will not erase the information. Each device will show up in iTunes as a separate device and you can control the information for each device through iTunes.
