IPad App not helpful without hierarchy bookmarks

I have some large PDF files with musical lead sheets.  I am thinking of getting an iPad and putting it on my music stand in order to read lead sheets to play.
However the PDFs that I created on the PC don't seem to work well on an iPad that I borrowed from a friend.
They have many book marks which I have made hierarchical so that I can very quickly drill down one level so I don't have to scroll the large list of book marks.  On a PC all I have to do is two clicks and it brings up my lead sheet autosized to the window.
However, I couldn't find any signs of hierarchy capabilities in the PDF iPad App.
What should I do? Is there any graceful way of navigating through literally thousands of PDF lead sheets on an iPAD?
The best solution would be one where I don't have to redo my PDFs as I created the bookmarks manually after OCRing some of the leadsheets...which BTW isn't always possible.

Adobe Reader for iOS and others such as Readdle's PDF Expert (they call them Outlines, while bookmarks are something you can add to the doc with the app) have support for nested bookmarks. There are a lot of PDF viewers available on iOS, some much better than others (including iOS's built-in viewer), so make sure you know which one is being used when you test. I find that PDF Expert's bookmark interface is a lot nicer than Reader's.

My daughters ipod touch has been disabled because of a wrong passcode.  After 2 days of trying to get into Itunes, it will not help without a passcode and is not recognizing it as a device even though the computer is recognizing the USB.  I know I have to do a complete recovery, but can I do this without Itunes (or Icloud)?

You cannot do this without itunes on your computer

  • IPAD App for SAP without Middleware

    Hi experts,
I am new about mobility topics and I am involved in a new project that consists in developing iPAD apps using data from SAP ECC and saved into the tablet.
In my business scenario there will be about 1.000 users that need to synchronize data from SAP ECC with the following characteristics:
    Volumes
Basically there are 2 type of data to store into the iPAD:
Clients assigned in Portfolio (about 1500 clients per User to download)
    Static data (i.e. configuration table/parameter)
Let's assume that the size of data exchanged is about 3 Megabyte
    Frequency
The initial upload has to be made once a year and thereafter once a day it should be checked for updates
At the very present time we are supposing to use web services calling SAP ECC in order to retrieve and store data.Is there any particular drawback in doing it without a Middleware?
I have heard about Sybase, but I cannot find the real advantage since it seems to be another database where data can be replicated into it. As for the device management console, my client is adopting yet AirWatch.
I have also heard about SAP Netweaver Gateway but I cannot catch the real advantage into using it.
    Thanks
    E.

    Hi Emanuele,
In your case, SUP would provide the development tools, framework and APIs to easily handle the authentication, synchronization etc. You wouldn't need to define your own synchronization mechanism, it's in the product. Now if the updates are only sent from the server to the mobile devices, this shouldn't be to difficult to handle even without SUP.
You could easily create REST Web Services using Gateway and then consume them using the mobile devices. You don't want to consume SOAP Web Services using a mobile application, trust me. You could do this using the ICF (Internet Communication Framework) to  achieve this but again it would be easier with Gateway.
You don't necessarily need SUP or Gateway to create only a simple mobile application. But then if your customer is happy with their first mobile application, they'll want more. And then products such as SUP or Gateway can make the difference. These products prodvide a standard development environment, tools to manage the apps and the users etc. With multiple mobile apps connected to multiple back-ends with more and more users, you'll need a middleware to manage all this and make sure the performance is great.
Usually people don't use SUP or Gateway for their first mobile application but then they start to see the benefits of mobility and they want more. And then they start to realize the benefits of these products and they understand that a real mobile strategy has to be defined etc.
    Regards,
    Pierre

  • Ipad apps not installing

My apps don't install instead the apps picture just comes up with lines and no name

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
    Not sure if this applies:
If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
    If that doesn't work:
    •  Log out of your iTunes store account.  Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
    • Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
    • After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

  • IPad apps not accessable.

My iPad will not show apps that need updating. Is there a fix?

The update server is down; try this temporary workaround
    App Store>Purchased>Select "All"
Note: Look out for apps that have the word "Update"

  • Logic Remote iPad app not working

I've have Logic Pro X installed on Mountain Lion and the latest IOS on an iPad (3rd gen) running Logic Remote but can't get them to work together.
After I choose the Mac pop up boxes keep appearing with either an option to re-connect to Mac or the attached error. (In the backround I can see the clock ticking that's synced with the Logic project playing on the Mac?
I've never had any problems with my wi fi and all the other apps work fine (including other controller apps that communicate with Logic Pro 9?)
I've tried removed the iPad from the Control Surface Setup page in Logic Pro X and selecting it again from the iPad app (which re-adds it correctly into the Setup in Logic Pro X)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    A.

Amazingly this worked, thanks. I'd already removed and let it add automatically a few times and it didn't work properly even after authorizing it.
I removed it from the setup and then added it back in manually myself (New, Install, Apple Logic Remote).
Then I ran the iPad app, and I ended up with 2 Logic remotes in the Control Surfaces Setup. The iPad logic remote wasn't coming up with any errors but all the faders were on 0 when they weren't on the Logic Pro X on the mac.
I then deleted the first Logic Remote in the Control Surfaces Setup and it seems to work. Thanks!

  • HT204266 iPad apps not installing...HELP!

Restored iPad (1st gen) (latest firmware 5.1.xx) hoping to increase speed. Worked fine but slow prior to restoration. Chose to manually re-install apps. After I click "install" (in app store), the icon appears on home screen with "waiting" underneath. Nothing happens. Connecting via wi-fi. Can connect to Internet and signed into iTunes store.
I have tried: rebooting ipad, deleting app and reinstalling, rebooted router.
    Help! Want my apps back!

Check iTunes and see if you have a pending/stalled download e.g. Podcast, Books, Music, Movies or iTune U. Finish off the download and you should be able to download apps.

  • How to stop to sync ipad apps with itunes without loosing everything?

My iPad is synching it's apps with itunes. Now that we have icloud, my ipad already has a backup in the cloud, and the PC backup of my apps is no longer useful. My goal is to stop my apps to sync with itunes on my PC because it is useless, it takes a lot of space on my hard drive (with many apps other 1-2GB each), because it drains my network bandwidth when it syncs, and finally because it makes my music synching with itunes extremely long (because it needs to sync all apps when it sync the music), and all of that without any use.
I tryed to simply uncheck "sync my apps" , but itunes wants to delete all my app and app data if I do so. I searched online and found out that some tryed to let itunes erase them, then use the icloud backup, but it seems that the icloud backup also backup the "sync my apps is checked", so it is not working. I tryed contacting Apple directly but for itunes they say we have to use the Fast Land, which cost money, which is conter logic (why should we pay to report bugs and get support for an unworking product that should work properly in the first place?), and also very frustrating.
I got poor support by Apple over the years, but I now that the best support often comes from the people that uses the product itself, and that is why I am trying to get the answer from you guys over the support communities.
None of us is paid to help each other, so thank you in advance for your time!
PS: Apple; fast lane needs to be free, it's not normal to have to pay to get the service every company in the world gives freely...

How do I keep these computers in sync in iTunes without iTunes re-arranging my iPhone home screen and corresponding app icons?
You don't.  Each sync-able item (apps, music, contacts, calendar, etc) can only have one source.  You don't see it because all of the iTunes libraries have the same apps, but if they didn't, it'd be adding and deleting apps too.  So each type you sync, the one you're currently syncing with becomes the authority.
Since you state that your goal is for all the libraries to match, there's no reason to be syncing them all.  Pick one, designate it as the authority, and on the other two, don't sync apps.

  • Issue with iPad: apps not working

Hi all. Also iPod and iPhone user, I just bought the iPad2. But, differently from the other ones I'm having big troubles with the Apps on iPad. The icon is getting on the screen after downloading, but no downloads ensue. Only thing I get is "waiting...", and I can't use any new App. Same story with updates of existing Apps. Once update is agreed upon, the App goes in the same kind of "limbo mode".
Who can help out and resolve this issue?!
    Many thanks already!
    Cheers
    Kristof

Finish the download in iTunes on your computer.
Launch iTunes and go to Store>Check for Available Downloads. If you have one available, go ahead and download it to the computer. Maybe that will open up the pipeline on the iPad. You can sync the app or update to the iPad. Or if it was an app clogging the download stream, you can download it again on the iPad without syncing via the purchased tab in the App store.
If that doesn't work, try a couple of basics.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • TS1702 ipad app not loading

All of a sudden, I can't seem to load any apps.  They set there with a gray screen and it says waiting... under it.  The problem is, they seemed frozen.  Any solution??

Try giving your device a reset. HOld down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Should take 10-20 seconds or so. If nothing happens then it may be time to hook your iPad up to a computer and see what kind of restore you can do, but the reset often helps to clear up glitches.

  • IPad apps not working!

Today I plugged in my brothers ipad into my computer to charge and on the next day all his apps wont open and they it has to be synched with my comp. He lives pretty far and is unable to do so.
    What can we do?

It's not the usual screen with the little wire that says connect to itunes. Whenever my brother tries to open >his< purchased apps, they sort of start up and then turn off.
In some apps like music it does talk about synchronization.
