  • Why do apps close immediately after opening?

I updated to iOS 4.3.3 on my iPad, now my apps close immediately after I open them.
Built-in apps are OK, but all my added apps no longer run!
    Help!
I have rebooted using the sleep button held down for 10 seconds.   No joy.
Now, I was advised to hold down sleep button and home circle button at same time and disregard the red bar... this reboots to Apple circle, but still apps close really fast after I try to open them.
This actually started several hours after my update, not right away, but that is all that changed.
    Very frustrating!

Jeanne ... You answered my post in a totally different thread but I did read it. If the problem is in the OS, why do the built in Apple apps not cause the iPad to crash? That reasoning makes no sense to me. Did you try closing all of the apps like I suggested and then restart?
Another way to approach this is to remove all of the apps from your iPad. Do this by removing them when you sync. Simply uncheck all of the non Apple apps and sync. Then - one or two apps at a time- add them back on to the iPad by resyncing. Use those one or two apps and see if they crash. If they don't crash, add one or two more apps and try those. Keep repeating the process until the iPad starts to crash again. You should be able to narrow down which app is causing the problem.
Are you sure that all of these apps are compatible with 4.3.3. as well? Check in the app store and make sure that they are.

  • 3rd party apps close immediately when opened

    Hello All,
I saw that this issue: "3rd party apps close immediately when opened" was happening often on older iPAD posts, however, was not able to find a solution.  I cannot open any 3rd party apps, but email, photos, etc work fine.  thanks for the help!

If it's happening on all the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.

  • Apple Remote app closes immediately upon launch

Apple Remote app launches on my ipad and then immediately closes.  This has just started happening.  I've not updated any OS.  I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling. No love.  Any suggestions? Currently running OS 7.0.6 on Ipad. Thanks

I would uninstall the app, run "erase all settings" from the settings>general>reset menu, then run "reset all network settings" from the same place, and then reinstall the app after the reboot.  You won't loose any of your files, but your device will reset to default volume levels, forget wifi networks, and all switches and settings menus in the settings app will be back at defaults.

  • Updated iphone4 software on a different computer, now my apps close immediately

I recently plugged my iphone into my mothers computer just to update my software. I didn't sync anything.  Now once I open any app on my iphone they close immediately. What do I do?

Yes just delete and re-download both of them free and paid apps. do not worry apple won't ask you money for paid ones. just click to buy and information box will be pop up and will tell you that you bought it before and you do not need to pay again. you can trust me about it because i've done it more than 20 times. by the way do not forget to be sure that you're using the same itunes account which one you bought your old paid apps.

  • Why do apps close immediately after opening in my iMac?

I work with imac. I have a problem when I open software standard  like appstore or preview, these apps open and close immediately.help???

You probably ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" or "MacCleanse" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • Apps close immediately after opening?

yesterday i upgraded my iphone 3gs to iOS4, all was fine i thought until i wanted to watch the french get knocked out the world cup using the itv world cup 2010 app (england only?)
i open the app, it then closes immediately! so i turn off phone, turned it back on then opened the app again, it attempts to open, then it closes after a couple of seconds
so i delete the app from the iphone, and also my itunes library. then i re-downloaded it.
synced my iphone and then checked the app again and it still WON'T open!
so i tried my other apps and the only other one i can see that also closes upon opening is the BatteryDoctor Pro app which i paid for!
is anyone else having this problem?

which app mate? or both of them?
only a bit miffed at the battery doctor app because i paid for that lol

  • IPAD app closes, random

When using my iPAD 3 and working on an app, the screen will clear and go back to the main screen and the app will close.  This is happening often and it's  not normal. Has anyone seen this?

Your apps are crashing, so try this and see if it helps.
Quit all apps completely and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • IPad Mail closes immediately after opening

After 3 weeks of using the iPad Mail, today Mail will open for about 3 seconds and then close. I've restarted the iPad, synced, checked for updates.
    Any suggestions?

So it does seem to be related to mail provider (Ntlworld seems to be a consistent offender) however I think it's a bit unfair to suggest it's the mail provider at fault. The email app should not crash irrespective of what is occurring with the mail provider. This problem has all the hallmarks of having been introduced as a direct consequence of 3.2.2 and needs to be sorted by apple. Apple then need to provide an advisor to mail providers if there are particular issues which cause conflicts with the iPad.
As a side note, my Ntlworld account has been migrated in the background to gmail (a commercial deal between virgin media and google earlier this year). If anyone else with virgin media has not been migrated to the gmail platform it would be interesting to know as would so of the other legacy virgin media email accounts such as virgin.net. It may simply be a consequennce of differing routes and a dresses being reported by the pop3 accounts, in which case apple will have a little more info to work up a fix.
MeanWhile I have disabled the email account in settings and accessing Gia the web portal which us actually very nice on the iPad)

  • Ipad apps close spontaneously

I have an original iPad WiFi + 3G purchased in December 2010.  I am running iOS 4.2.1.  Very often apps that I am using close spontaneously and without warning.  Most, but not all, of the time, the affected apps are ones that may be accessing the Internet.  But some are games that I have downloaded from the App Store and play only "locally", not online.  I have tried stopping all running apps in the multitasking list, but this does not seem to affect the problem.  When the apps terminate, I am returned to the screen from which I launched the app.  If I reselect it, or if I choose it from the multitasking list, the app will sometimes go back to the spot where I was when it closed; but at other times, the app will just reopen at its starting screen.
I don't know how to determine whether this problems is with the hardware, the operating system, or the apps themselves (which seems questionable since it happens with several different apps).  Can anyone tell me how to proceed to fix this problem?
    O.B.

    Hello,
I have exactly the same thing - most apps open then close spontaneously. This happens across a variety of different apps and under different wifi connections. It affects me more than 50% of the time now and I can't use a whole bunch of apps because of this. Is this a QC issue with the appstore allowing in badly made apps or is there something inherent in the Ipad that makes it MUCH flakier than advertised.
I really have better things to do than to reinstall every app, seriously.

  • Non-Apple apps close immediately when out of cell service area

    Hi,
When backpacking out of range of cellular and wifi coverage, my iPhone worked fine (for awhile) -- I would power it off, then back on, use some apps, then power it off until later.
At one point, almost all apps stopped opening.  I tried most of the apps on my phone.  To be exact, they would open, but then immediately drop me back at the home screen.  Pressing then home button twice would show me the app had opened, but selecting it would show it for a fraction of a second then drop back to the home screen.
These apps worked: Calendar, Maps, Music, Camera, Notes.Compass, Clock, Photos.
These apps didn't: Google Maps, Pandora, Sonos, Wiper, Authy, Authenticator, Clear, Gaia GPS, MyRadar, Alarmed, Stanza, Groupon, Chrome, Spotify (etc.)
I tried toggling airplane mode, wifi on/off, bluetooth, reset all phone settings, power down then back on (at least 5 times), force power off and then on (couple times).  I toggled all the settings I could think of.  Always no app would stay open (other than the ones Iisted above).
I had to cut my backpacking trip short because I could no longer interface my iPhone with my satellite communication device (it uses a bluetooth-based program on the iPhone and  the app wouldnt (stay) open).  (I need to be in contact with the office, even in the backcountry)
I left the phone on, and drove back into cell range.  As soon as I had signal, all the apps started working again.
Why did the non-apple apps stop working?  Is there some way to get them working when out of cell range?  They work when I turn on airplane mode at my house, and always have.

    There are a few threads that might provide a fix for you. Unfortunately for most people, none of these fixes address the issue;

I'm simply waiting for Apple to fix this problem without having to delete everything and starting fresh over because that is not really a solution to anything. For a lot of people their iPhone is their computer. Imagine if someone told you the solution to fixing your computer after each update was to delete everything and reinstall.. hmm.

  • Every CC app closes immediately after opening

    Hey there
I've seen this question asked over and over again with a different answer most times. When I launch any CC app (i.e. DW & Photoshop), they'd close right after they finish loading. Only notable exception is Lightroom... but of course, that's not lightroom I need right now.
    - I cleared my previous CS6 install, even removed flash player. Ran Ccleaner twice including multiple rebbots. All fresh from any Adobe stuff.
    - I do not have GROWL installed on my system.
    - I did sign in/out/in the creative cloud app.
    - I did try different install location.
    - I tried ALL CAPS and no caps for my login.
I got my 1 year subscription paid upfront; this is friday night &  I'm VERY upset as I do have work to do !
    Can someone please help ?
    Greg

Hey there sorry to hear you're facing the same pb.
Let me save you hours with the support queues. You won't fix this. Simple.
The only thing that worked was to reimage my system. On a fresh install it worked right away. It's painful but really so much quicker than the time i spent trying to rootcause with the support folks on the phone.
Once it's behind you, things are good.

  • IPhone apps close immediately after opening

    I have tried :
    - iPhone reboot (several times)
    - install a new app through iTunes (several times)
    - deauthorize and reauthorize the computer (several times)
    - uninstall all apps and reinstall
    - reset all iPhone settings
    - iPhone restore
    - scour all discussion threads for solutions
to no avail. This all started after weeks of needing to reauthorize the computer every sync, then halfway syncing when I was away from an internet connection. I stopped it in attempt to not lose all of the apps, and it didn't delete the apps, but then they would close just after launch. Any more ideas? Thanks.

I used to have the same problem. the iPhone was acting weird so I tried to reboot it but it didn't work so I forced-rebooted it (holding Power and Home simultaneously) and since then all the apps that didn't came with iPhone fail to launch (you see the first screen for half a sec then you're back to the home screen).
It disappeared when I synced it with iTunes.

  • Music, an Apple proprietary app, closes immediately after I open it. I can not access to my ICloud library.

I tried all day to enter into the app. I canceled the ITunes Match option in the dispositive and then it works but I don`t have all my music, but once I choose the option again, the app fails and closes automatically.
    I appreciate your advise.
