IPad apps will delete it?

Hey guys,
I am going to sell my iMac next week, planing to buy new iMac... i want to know before i do... If i delete all my iPad apps from iTunes on my iMac, save it all on iPad, buy a new iMac and then put back it all on iTunes from ipad, it will not delete it?

If I were you, I would do a back up of your current computer to an external hard drive just before you sell it. You can use a program like carbon copy cloner to do this, the app is free. When you get your new mac, just use the migration asistant to migrate from the back up. It will capture all off your files, programs and settings. This way, you won't have to worry about restore your iPad. Make sure you unauthorize your mac from iTunes before you sell...

The Find My iPad app has nothing to do with actually finding your iPad. It is an app that works like the iCloud version - to locate your iPad if lost or stolen. Remember that in order for Find my iPad to work, your device must be connected to the Internet via WiFi or cellular. If the device is offline, you will not be able to locate it. Find My iPad does retain it's last know location for a short time, but if that time is expired, it will appear as offline and no location will be available. This is of course assuming you did actually activate Find My iPad. If not, there is no way to track it anyway.
If you were using iOS 7 even if they wipe the iPad, they will not be able to activate it. Not helpful to you now I know, but if you don't get it back you know they can't use it anyway.

IPad apps will not update even though the iPad screen shows apps need upgrade. What's happening, is Apple losing it?

This problem has been ongoing for several days now. Hundreds of people are in the same boat as you. This is a problem that Apple has to fix. If you look around the forum, you will see many, many discusssions about this and they have been going on for a few days.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this is a workaround - for the time being.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
1. Go to App Store
2. Select Purchased
3. Select All
4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store.

If my ipad was stolen and i havent signed up for find my ipad app will it show the device offline and pending lost mode still?

wondering if i never signed up for the locate my ipad app if it would show my stolen device as offline and pending lost mode or if that means that i did sign up for it and just dont remember?

If it is showing up as Offline and also shows Lost Mode as Pending, then you did turn on Find My iPhone. Otherwise, you wouldn't see the device at all when you went to Find My iPhone in iCloud. If someone turns on the device and connects to the internet, then your pending Lost Mode transaction will process, and a lock code will be placed on the device. It will also show up on the map to show you the location.
However, if it does not come back online, then you won't be able to track it, nor will the lost mode command execute.

HT1689 Ipad "apps" will not update (was 14 items, now 9). Ipad used extensively in Europe & UK for a month. Condition has existed since our return to Canada. Followed steps as listed in Support to no avail?

Help with multiple Ipad app updates.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like two (or more) different Apple ID's were used when Apps were purchased and originally downloaded and installed.
Another possibility might be that maybe some Apps were downloaded in other countries during your travels, and might not be authorized by the developer or by Apple for use in locations other than the country of origin.
To change the active Apple ID, navigate to Settings, Store, and touch the active Apple ID shown. Then Sign Out, and sign in with the other Apple ID(s). Now go to Apps, and Check for Updates. Once updates are installed, you can again sign out, and sign back in with the other Apple ID used most often.
My wife and I share her iPad. Initially I downloaded the apps I wanted to use with my Apple ID, and 'her' apps using her Apple ID. That system works pretty well, except for updates. To update everything installed, I had to log in with one Apple ID, download updates, and then log in with the other Apple ID to finish.
It wasn't a problem when there were only 10 or 15 apps, for each of us, updated infrequently. When it reached more than 100 apps for each of us, it became inconvenient to do the dual updates.
When I upgraded her iPad to iOS 5.1.1, I deleted most of 'my' apps (most were free anyway), and reinstalled only 'her' apps. Then I re-downloaded most of my free apps from the App store, this time using her Apple ID, to make future app updates easier.

My apps stopped updating last Sunday. I tried everything I know, including resetting the iPad. Any suggestions?

Amazing as it sounds, deleting the WSJ app (even though it wasn't needing an update) fixed my problems and the apps all started updating after a hard reset (reboot).

I have apps that need to be updated from the App Store but when I select the "Update" icon, all it does is open the app rather than update it.
i Have tried turning off the iPad and turning back on...doesn't work.

I had this problem
I hit the power button and the round button at the same time and held it until it rebooted
You get the black screen and the apple logo
When that was done I want to the app and update screen and I was able to update my apps
I suggest when you update stay on that screen until they all update
I find it sometimes get stuck updating when I leave the screen as they are updating and do other things, but I could be wrong. It just seems to me that is when it happens.
The reboot works and don't worry you don't lose anything when u reboot it's like shutting down a computer and powering it back up. Everything you had before will still be there.

I have an iPod touch 4th generation and when I try to upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 it says that all my apps will delete but I dont want them too, what should I do?

I don't want to lose all my apps but I want to upgrade my iPod. Is there any other way to upgrade it but not lose all my apps, and if so what is it?

- Update on the computer you sync with that has allthe apps and other synced media in its iTunes library.
- If on another computer
- Transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
- Transfer other music by using a third-party program like on of those discussed here:

- Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup. The iPod will be updated too.
Note that the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

IPad apps will not download

Hi-
Just bought my wife the new iPad2. She purchased and tried to download 2 new apps. The app icon appeared briefly that said "waiting", then disappeared. They were not to be found on the menu page. Went under apps, then purchased to redownload the app, but the app stated "installed_. There was not an option to re download the app. What are we doing wrong? We both have had iPod touch units and the app download was seamless.

I asusme that you've checked all your homescreens. Have you got any restrictions set under Settings > General > Restrictions > Apps which is hiding them due to their age ratings ? If not then try a reset and see if they show after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

My I pod touch ..has a old E-mail acct. assoc. with it and can't remember the password, will not let me update my apps. will deleting my acct. fix problem will I loose all of my stored photos?? help

wondering if deleting my Itunes acct. will help in erasing the pop-up requiring a password I no longer know ?

You really can't delete the account.
Try recovering the the password

YO can just delete all media purchased with the account and change the ID to a new one. and not lose things like photos except for photos directly associated with the ID like maybe photos in your PhotoStream

None of my ipad apps will update. They just sit there in the "waiting" status.

I am trying to update my apps as your store suggested. Sadly they just sit here in "waiting" state for hours. On top of that, my Apple TV refuses to let me access the iTunes Store or any of my purchases. I'm fairly irritated with apple over the last 3 days and really don't appreciate having to go through 4 logins and a bunch of confusing screens before being allowed to randomly provide feedback without even knowing where I ended up.

IPad app will not update

There is an Adobe Revel app update that I have tried to update twice and keep getting the error message "can't update at this time". Is there a problem or should I just keep trying.

An app will not completely download from the App Store to my iPhone 5S. Neither can I terminate the download by trying to delete it. The app is useless to me and so I would like to remove the icon from my home screen. How can I do this?

I tried to download the app "Google Translate" from the App Store onto my iPhone 5s. However, the download will not complete. As well, when I try to delete the icon from my home screen, it will not go away. I am very frustrated as this has never happened before and I have gotten many paid and free apps from the App Store. I hope someone can solve my dilemma. Thank you kindly.

What have you tried to get the app to finish downloading e.g. have you tried logging out and back into your account on your phone, disconnecting and reconnecting to your network, soft-reset of your phone (press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, ignore the red slider, after which the Apple logo should appear and it should reboot) ?
You could also try downloading the update on your computer's iTunes and see if you can sync it over to your phone (or delete the app its Apps tab when connected to your computer's iTunes and sync the new version - deleting the app will delete its contents).

Can only see New apps in iPad app store

Seems kind of pointless to search for apps on the iPad app store, when it will only show you the "new" ones. When I choose any category, then click the show all button, I don't get all, just the "new" ones ... never more than about 97 or so. searching the same category in iTunes for just iPad apps will almost always yield far more choices. for example I can only see about 97 utilities for the iPad from my iPad app store, but in iTunes there are 260 choices. They aren't iPhone apps either. Another example, if I show the games category on the iPad I can only see 27 New and Noteworthy apps, and 24 What's hot apps. No more. In iTunes I have an additional option of a subcategory, for example Action, there are 200 games released for iPad since March 31st available in that one category.
Not sure if I have a preference set wrong, it's just a bug, or if someone just wasn't thinking. Mayabe it's a bandwidth thing, but at least give me the subcategories or let me see the "next" 50.

Why should I be forced to use iTunes to see all of the apps? The iPad app store should see everything just like iTunes.. This isn't an iPhone.
At least the link is some what helpful although quite slow going back and forth to app store to get details.

When I try to sync photos, I followed all the steps, picked one folder. When I hit "apply" I get this error message: Are you sure you want to remove 30 apps from iPad. This will delete these apps and their data from the iPad. What have I done wrong

I have the same problem. I updated my mac to 10.5, which then had me update apps like itunes, etc. then it wanted me to sync my purchased music to my ipad before i updated the ipad...which worked ok. then when i was syncing the photos i got the same message when i hit "apply" asking are you sure you want to delete the 12 apps from the ipad - clicked "no" and brought me back to the original screen. Got the same message when trying to move them from the hard drive to the ipad. WHat is going on and how do I correct this? Thanks
