IPad based Printing via Bluetooth

Hello All,
We are working on ipad buletooth enabled printer.
We need to do program on the following for iPad.
The Requirement is:
We have an ipad that detects the nearby bluetooth enabled printer, then from the ipad we will give a print of document / pdf /any thing to the printer (the ipad that detects the printer via bluetooth).
Note: we dont want to use any third-party plugin's or apps from iStore.
Please let us know how we proceed further.
Thanks in Advance.
Vinay Guntaka.

Hi PogoPossum,
Thanks for your reply...! and thanks for your suggestions.
We are new to this apple enivronment
After searching no of forums We have an idea that ipad supports head-set & Keyboard (both are bluetooth enabled). Suppose let me explain our idea on this.
There is an ipad which is bluetooth enabled which detects an external keyboard(via bluetooth).
Suppose if i am not wrong from the external keyboard if i type some text (APPLE) then in the ipad (APPLE) will be displayed on a notepad or any app.
In same way vice-versa can be applied or not from the 2nd point? if possible i want to know the flow of communication b/w ipad to keyboard.
If possible then i want to emulate a printer on keyboard, is this is correct that we are thinking...!
Simply from the ipad i will enter some text (APPLE) the same ascii code is given to a printer.
I think i may be wrong also please correct..!
Thanks
Vinay Guntaka

my iPhone 5S no longer sees my wireless printer via bluetooth.  All it does in Settings is continually search for devices.  I've rebooted the phone, as well as the printer.  I even sat next to the printer with no luck.  It did find the printer when I initially set it up.

Did this work for you in the past?
ios does not support bluetooth printers without extra software.
    Helper app -- /print n share
Print directly to the widest range of network or WiFi printers available in any app. Alternatively print via your computer to ALL printers including USB & Bluetooth printers. View read and display large PDF, Office & iWork files. Easily transfer & store files from the Cloud or your computer.

You need to buy the right printer.
The iPad uses a print technology called AirPrint. Airprint is a particular communication protocol that flows over WiFi.  So, having a WiiFi printer isn't sufficient. The printer needs to be of an Airprint variety of WiFi.

I looked at the same sight for that and it does not say that.  This is the first time I have posted a question, you don't have to be mean about it.  I am trying to get this to work for a good cause.
It may be the best source of assistance is the manufacturer of the device. I suspect you will need a specific app for the iPhone to get it to work, but the site is rather ambiguous about that.

  • Print via bluetooth direct to printer

I have the 8330 BB Curve (my 3rd blackberry) and I am trying to print directly from my bb to a printer via Bluetooth. Now I was in a store and made it work with a multifunction HP printer. I then took home a Canon IP100 portable and got a bluetooth adaptor. Canon, however does not support direct printing, only HP. So I returned it and got a portable HP H470, but the wi-fi version (couldn't get the bluetooth one easily) and tried putting the bluetooth adaptor in it, but cannot get it to print. Any suggestions?

    hello,
it is a HP H470 issue. Contact HP support and ask them if there is a way of using that device with a bluetooth adapter.

  • I am trying to configure an iPad to print via Airprint to a HP Laserjet Pro CP1225mw printer and are having problems

Currently I am able to print to the printer via Airprint but because the iPad has a priority of Wi-Fi over 3G, when I want to browse the Internet at the same time via the iPad's 3G connection it will not which makes it hard to print pages from websites. I have the option of adding the printer to the internal wireless network for the organization but I am trying to avoid it as iOS-based devices get constantly prompted for username and password when trying to authenticate HTTPS connections and this may prove an irritation for the user that is going to get this printer. Also I want to restrict who can access this printer as it is mean for use for one specific person in the organization.

Some printers support adhoc networks.  This would keep it off your corporate net.  Of course, I haven't tried this.
    For example HP D110.

I don't know if this will help  you or not but could be worth looking into.

  • Why can't I get my iPad to connect via bluetooth to my iPhone 5s?

I never have been able to get my iPhone 4s or the new iPhone 5s to connect with my iPad via Bluetooth. Both are running the latest 7.0.3 software.

What are you trying to accomplish by this type of connection? iOS devices use Bluetooth to connect to dado phones, speakers, some keyboards and a few other devices. Bluetooth on iOS devices is not set up to connect two iOS devices.

  • Connecting to Printer via Bluetooth, documents print gibberish

    Howdy,
I have a Canon Pixma iP100 and have recently installed the bluetooth accessory so that I could print wirelessly from my computer and iPhone via bluetooth. However, it won't work! I have sent documents to the printer from my computer and the documents come out in gibberish. Varying about 10 - 20 lines per page, it's become a real waste of paper and is getting to be really frustrating. Once it starts to print a document, it continuously spits out these pages of gibberish until the paper runs out as if there is no 'last page.' It does however print photos.
I also am unable to connect my iPhone to the printer. It will not recognize that the printer is available to connect so therefore won't print anything (documents or photos). Any ideas?
I've followed the Bluetooth Guide that came with the Canon Setup Utility and have set up the bluetooth preferences within it.
    I have a Macbook Pro (OS X 10.5.8) and an iPhone 3Gs (4.2.1)
    Thank you for your help!

    Hi again:
Since the printer works when cable connected, it appears that he BT connection is the problem (not exactly a startling revelation! ).
You probably have already done so, but my next step would be to contact Canon (tech support) to see if there is a software update and/or a workaround. I am jumping to conclusions, but I suspect the Canon software is not playing well with your Mac.
    Barry
P.S. There is no OS X setting that I am aware of that would cause what you describe. However, you could trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart. It would also not hurt to reset the SMC.

  • My ipad shows connected via bluetooth but doesnt actually go online

I have recently been using my MacBook Pro internet to connect via bluetooth to my ipad. It was working fine and then I went away for a week and when I came back its now not working. It shows connected on my MacBook and my Ipad but when I try to go on the internet in my ipad it says I cannot connect. Any ideas as to why it was working before and now its not. I have tried uninstalling my ipad from the bluetooth and resetting it up but still nothing.

  • HT3621 So why can't you tether an iphone 4S to an ipad 3 LTE via bluetooth?

I have a  iPhone 4S (VZ) and an iPad 3 4G (VZ) as my primary devices.  I've had both devices for some time.  Neither device can see the other in bluetooth discovery, yet ANY other bluetooth enabled device can tether to both devices and use data tethering. Android, windows 7, linux, phones, tablets, desktops, laptops...these all work perfectly when tethering to either device's data connection via bluetooth.   I've seen this issue across all iphone 3G or better + ipad combinations.
And yet... these devices are able to tether to each other via wifi... and recognize that they are tethered to other Apple products. iPhone to iPad and iPad to iPhone tethering over wifi works perfectly.
Very strange, especially considering Apple's own list of bluetooth profiles indicate that this shouldn't be an issue for any generation ipad, or iPhone 3G or newer.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3647
Aside from a full list of device profiles, this is also listed:
    "Personal Area Network Profile (PAN)
Personal Area Network Profile provides network connectivity over Bluetooth. With iOS this is  common with multiplayer games and Personal Hotspot on iPhone. See this article for additional information.
iPod touch and iPad with iOS 4.3 or later support Internet tethering from an iPhone with iOS 4.2.6 or later, through PAN. "
    OK!
To me this indicates that tethering should work.  One way at the very least. (ipad to iphone)
Please give us an official response on this issue Apple.

I was trying to share my 3G connection from my iPhone 5 (6.1) and my mba (10.8.3)
    Maybe I have a solution
    1-Pairing
Turn on bluetooth on the iPhone
Turn on bluetooth on the macbook
activated and detectable must be on
    "+" to add a device
    choose the iphone
    follow the instruction
On the iPhone appears a notification showing the same pairing code as the iPhone
Choose Pair (or the left handside button, I haven't got an english iPhone)
On the macbook, you receive the confirmation that the pairing is ok - but the iPhone won't connect !!
    2-Connecting whatsoever !
Just in case I reboot the iPhone but I don't know if it matters
Turn on the bluetooth on the iPhone (must be on, on the macbook too )
The macbook must show on the device list of the iPhone
    Click on it
The famous notification appears ! "Can't connect..." - DO NOT PRESS any button leave the iPhone like this
On the macbook, choose the bluetooth icon on the status bar.
    Choose iPhone
    Choose connect
There you are ! Connected !
Just press Home button on the iPhone and do whatever you do with both device.
Later on it appears that the connexion doesn't need this trick anymore . But you need to connect from the macbook end. It doesn't work from the iPhone
    Hope it helps

Whenever I try to connect my iPad with my iPhone via Bluetooth a window shows up saying "Make sure iPhone is turned on an in range" ,even though I switched off and on Bluetooth many times but it didn't work

  • IPad to iMac via Bluetooth

Is it possible to connect the iPad to an iMac via bluetooth?  I ask because my iMac does "see" the iPad via bluetooth but when I try to 'Browse' the iPad via the iMac I get the message "The device does not have the necessary services".   Am I correct then in assuming then that the iPad cannot exchange files with an iMac?

And another thing...  Even if you did have BT capability, you can't copy any file over since each data file has to be associated with an app, thus you'd need to use iTunes to associate the file with an app in order to copy.  Alternatives are to use Dropbox or iDisk, if the associated app has that capability.  For example, to get a Pages document to the iPad, you use either iTunes to copy it to Pages/iPad or put the file on iDisk and then use Pages/iPad to import it.  But you can't just connect via BT and copy the file to some folder on the iPad. The iPad doesn't have a traditional folder system like computers.
