Ipad battery not lasting anymore

I've had my ipad for 16 months. I regularly let the battery run out and recharge it and I use the higher power ipad charger. However within the last couple of months my ipad battery is barely lasting an hour and takes  more than half the day to fully charge. It is extremely slow. I have also tried it on another charger and there was no difference. What can be done? Thanks, Danielle

Do you also own an iPad?  I have struggled with all solutions to fast depleting battery on iphone 4s (and ipad) since installing ios7. I sync via icloud to my ipad and noticed the b stopped if I powered off the ipad for a day! ios7 must have set up some cycle that drained both devices. Now I have set the ipad to manual (not push) on icloud and diary sync and battery life is back to normal for a whole week  it can last 48 hours with light use- no longer have to keep shutting down all apps and turning off bluetooth and wifi to get through a day! Any one else found the same solution?

    How are you trying to charge it, via a computer's USB port or its wall charger ? A lot of computers don't provide enought power to their USB ports to charge an iPad at a sufficient rate.
    If you are using the wall charger then have you tried a reset to see if it charges after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
    If it still doesn't charge then have you tried a different charger and/or cable ? Do you know anybody else with an iPad so that you can try their charger and cable and they can try yours ?

    I understand that your Logic Remote is not connecting. In this situation I suggest reading over the attached information and making sure that Logic Remote is set up correctly. I would also suggest trying to connect using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

    I have had it stop sending/receiving calls 3 times now... the first two times the problem went away the next day, but this time I am two days out and still not working. 
    I have not replaced my phone, I am afraid to do it because from another thread that I read, it usually doesn't fix the problem.
    Here is the other thread I found: I can't make or take phone calls, but i can message and use data. Has this happened to anyone else? I've gone through three Samsung Galaxy S5's in the past three days, two of which have this problem and one just stopped working all together.
    My problem started on day 15 so I couldn't just get a replacement at the store, had to get a rma to get a replacement.  If you have only had the phone for 3 days you might want to go to your store and have them replace it with a new one.  Me, if I could I would switch to another phone, but it looks like I am stuck with the S5 for now.

    iphone 4 battery, one and one-half years old not lasting throught even 1 day.  turned off and on, no help.

    took it to apple.  they checked battery, it was ok, but they did a dfu (deep firmware upgrade) and replaced the battery (I was wrong on the age - it was still under warranty).  Had to re-set it up, but it seems fine now.

    Well, you could start by searching the forum. You might then find this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3391947?tstart=0, a thread with over a million views and over ten thousand posts, discussing this very subject.
    But the short answer is you have an app that is using data and power. If you have an Exchange account it might be email if you get a lot of messages. If you have the FaceBook app it is almost certainly that. Exiting out of apps does not necessarily kill the background process if they are built in apps (like mail, contacts and calendar, ping, genius, iTunes). Other apps can re-launch their background tasks if they are set to receive notifications and the receive one.

    I just got my iphone on wednesday. Yesterday and today my battery wouldnt last for more than 10 hrs. I didnt really do anything with it except text during the day at work but it wasn't constant, maybe one or two every 20 min MAXIMUM. and by the time I left work, it was down to 35% roughly. I guess I'm somewhat frustrated that it doesn't last. I know apps can run in the background. I have OS 3.1.3 and I dont know how to end my apps via buttons so I turn it off and back on. I'm not on a wireless network although they are everywhere at work.
    Is there a way to see what programs are running? How do I end apps with buttons? Can I do anything to make my battery last longer? Thanks in advance

    If you do not see iMessages on both of your iOS devices after restoring your iPhone, you may need to sign out and back in to iMessages.
    You can follow these steps (on all of your devices) from the support article If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
    Sign out and back in to iMessage and FaceTime
    Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    Go to Settings > FaceTime, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    On your iPhone first, sign back in to iMessage and Facetime.
    Sign back in to iMessage and Facetime on your other devices.

    i've owned Nokia 6131 set on 20th Nov'2006, from then there was litte problem.. when i charged the cell by switchin off the cell often its shows on the screen that 'LOCAL MODE' after opening the battery and reloaded it comes in normal mode, and if i charged the cell by switchin on the cell it will no shows "Local Mode". From then i started to charged the battery with switchin on the cell > earlier my this cell was last 1 to 1 and 1/2 dasy but from last week it is not lasting 24 hour even after switching off the cell battery is consuming, i've tried by swithing on power saver on and off both ways but not getting any solution. please guide me, what to do, i m in trouble with my cell (Nokia 6131).

    That "up to" 7 hour mark is often a point of confusion for users. I've had my 13" MacBook Pro since the week it became available and a new unibody MacBook for about 10 days. My day-to-day usage gets me anywhere from three and a half hours to five hours based on usage, a full charge will typically last me about 9 hours of actual time (I'll sleep the machine when not in use).
    Last night, off a full charge (5147 mAh) with Safari and Mail open, WiFi connected and my backlight at 4 blocks I got 2 hours and 11 minutes of usage (browsing these discussions and responding). This morning, even after having the machine sleeping all night (about 7 hours) I still had 64% battery. So if I had continued my trend of usage in that manner I would have definitely gotten over 7 hours of run time.
    However today, as I'm running Adium, mail, Safari, iTunes and a Parallels 5 with several things going in each... I'm at 47% in only about 30-45 minutes of usage.

    My ipad 2 is not holding a battery charge. I have let the battery completly drain and have charged it using the the cord that I recieved when I bought it, over night, (8hrs +). I have owned my ipad for over 2 yrs. and have never had any problem recharging it until now! Any suggestions?

    Have you tried using a different charger? Haven't heard of an iPad battery going bad... however, the chargers do quite regularly from a lot of use.

    please help, I have been trying to get my ipad to work again for hours without luck.
    After running the new software update on my ipad 2, I started having issues; device turned off by itself, apps couldn't be downloaded, etc (however it was at least working).
    Being frustrated with the newly born issues, I decided to restore the ipad, hoping that would solve the issue, however I ended up with the black screen telling me to connect to iTunes and when I connect and go for restore, I get error message 4013 and 21. I tried re-installing iTunes, upgrading my opp system, but nothing,

    You say "USB can't be the issue...".  I disagree.  There are thresholds, etc.  Maybe the iPhone passes some threshold, but the iPad does not.
    You might reboot all devices.  If that does not cure it, then check the TS3694 article I attached above.

    Here are some observations and a suggestion.
    1)  I mentioned before, that the number of views of this discussion forum is fast approaching 100,000.  I suppose relative to all iPhones sold that is not a great percentage, but 100,000 still sounds pretty impressive to me.  Consider also that many people probably have this same Sim problem and are not viewing this discussion forum because thay do not know it exists.  How many people are REALLY experiencing this problem?  Who knows.  But I suspect it is more that 100,000.
    2)  To the best of my knowledge, Apple does not consult these forums as a guide to awareness of product performance.  It may be company policy, but most of the time when I speak to an Apple employee they seem remarkably unaware of the "Top Stories" in the Apple Discussion Forum.  This, despite the fact that my personal experience with customer service at Apple is excellent.  So, as much as we of this discussion forum are confident SOMEONE important at Apple is reading all our posts and taking them to heart...I am not so sure.
    3)  I have been told over and over that the best way to gain Apple's attention regarding a problem is to post a comment on their Feedback Site.  One comment about a problem is pretty worthless.  100,000 comments on the same issue, I'm guessing, will really get their attention.
    4)  Some folks have mentioned a recall to address this problem.  Although such a thing is always a possibility, I don't see it happening.  Why?  When the brakes on a Toyota don't work, or that Toyata starts to accelerate without driver intention...well, that involves human life and the stakes are quite high.  For many reasons you would see the automotive industry eventually be forced into a recall program under such a situation.  But, a phone APPEARS to not nearly be such a life and death device.  Or is it?  My daughter's iPhone 4S developed a "SIM FAILURE" on the same day her car broke down in the middle of the very rural area we live at around 10:00 pm.  She is 17 years old and was coming home from high school play practice.  You can imagine the anxiety I and her mother felt when she did not arrive home on time.  She eventually walked about a quarter mile to a house of a stranger and had to ask to use their phone to call us.  Now, I am not saying that strangers where I live are not to be trusted.  But, in addition to being worried out of my mind, I was not happy that an inoperative iPhone 4S caused my daughter to be put in this situation.  My biggest concern now is...when will my daughter's iPhone become inoperative again due to SIM FAILURE?
    5)  The more folks in this discussion forum who post a comment about this issue in Apple's feedback site the more pressing this issue is going to be perceived by Apple.  So, I like others, encourage all of you to do so.  If this seems like a lot of effort, I offer you these few sentences below that you could just copy and paste into the feedback site.

    I wish to register a strong concern about my iPhone's unpredictable inoperability due to failures somehow associated with it's SIM technology.  For me, I do not consider this just a significant lack of convenience, but a significant safety issue.  Should I need my phone in an emergency situation where it is experiencing  a SIM FAILURE, I believe the iPhone will have put me at risk.  I would ask you to please give fixing this problem your greatest priority and effort.
