IPad browsing extremely slow
Hi,
Over the past few months internet browsing on my iPad has become unbearably slow. I have cleared cookies and cache, rebooted the iPad (holding down sleep and Home keys until the Apple appears), and even installed another browser (Grazing) to see if it was just a Safari thing. It is not. I have an iPad 1, and have primarily used it to do internet browsing and book reading.
This did not happen when I installed the 5.1.1 OS. However, it was not until after I did install 5.1 that the response time started degrading. Now, I really don't want to even try to browse, because it has become so bad.
Also, this is not a bandwidth speed thing because the response time on my Mac laptop and on my iPhone are absolutely within an acceptable range.
Does anyone have any ideas about why this may be happening, or have any suggestions about how I might be able to speed things up?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
Cheers,
GB
Thanks Diavonex,
I'm off to get a new MacBook Air on Monday, so before going through the pain of restoring, I will see how my browsing habits may change with my new device. My iPad is MOST wonderful for all of the other things I use it for - mail, book reading, doing art with Brushes, finding out what bird that is sitting on my deck....locating places in the world when they are referenced in a book I'm reading.
So, if I just end up doing all of my browsing via my new Mac.....won't be the worst thing that ever happened.....
(as you can tell, I'm avoiding the whole "restore" saga like the plague.....) But, in the end, if I have to, then I will!
Thanks for the idea - at least it is something that may help!!!
Cheers,
GB

After downloading the update for my iPad 3rd gen my iPad is extremely slow. How can this be fixed???
You may have to restore your iPad using Recovery mode, but try a reset first. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Let go of the buttons when you see the logo. This takes about 10-15 seconds.
IF the update will not complete or you see the connect to iTunes message on the screen, you have to restore your iPad.
If you can't update or restore your iOS device -
Why is my iPad browser so slow?
I have been very disappointed in the performance of my iPad. For a device that was designed for apps and and web browsing, it is extremely slow. I did a PHP speed test from LifeHacker (http://cache.lifehacker.com/assets/resources/stopwatch.php) on my old Centrino 2 laptop and my iPad 1, which are physically side-by-side on the same high speed wireless internet connection. My iPad has full signal. For example, it took my laptop an average of 4.4 seconds to fully load LifeHacker on Chrome, while my iPad takes an average of 15.9 seconds on Safari. Why is this? Is there a fix?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. When web browsing a web page the download frequently gets stuck half to 3/4 done. If I click in the address bar ( stops the download) then click on the screen (puts the refresh arrow at end of address bar) then click refresh arrow then 7/10 times the page loads immediately. It is as though the browser is waiting for something that is not being delivered and it made me wonder about iAds.
I have tried
- clearing the cache (settings, safari, clear history, clear cookies and data)
- deleting website data (settings, safari, advanced, website data, delete all),
- deleted files (movies etc) to free up space,
- have done a hard reset,
- have done a settings reset (settings, general, reset, reset all settings),
- backup, reset and restore from backup,
all made no difference.
I was also having the same problem on my iphone 3gs, my wifes new iPad and her iPhone 4gs, I then turned off iAds on the iPad (settings, location, services, system services, location based iAds) and it made some difference but only seemed to reduce the problem by 20%
I also have Microsoft computers on the network that do not have the "stuck browser" problem. -
IPad is extremely slow and hangs since IOS8 upgrade
Since the IOS8 upgrade my iPad2 is extremely slow, the touch sensitivity seems diminished (along with the keyboard being slower also), many apps no longer work. Can't risk trying to backup to IOS7.x because i am afraid the original IOS7 backup may be gone. I told my wife and daughter DO NOT UPGRADE, so they are still working fine. Apple Support, where are you? Maybe all is well for the new phones but you have forgotten other users.
i believe my loyalty to Apple (since 1984) is fading as I am now slowly recovering all my data so I can move away from Apple.Try a reset by holding the power and home keys down until the Apple logo appears.
FWIW my iPad 2 is running just fine under iOS 8.
By the way, you cannot retreat to iOS 7 - that is not supported.

Audit Browser extremely slow (OWB10g R2 patchset 1)
Hi,
I know that a bug existed in the base line release which slowed down the response of RAB due to the use of a table function in a view. This has been fixed in patchset 1. But now, we encounter an extremely long response time on execution auditing. I tried:
1. Purging all execution audit entries
2. optimizing the repository
3. Using Browser Listener on the server instead of the client
But even without data it didn't improve. So, the problem seems to be caused by the page rendering engine. Server and network are strong enough. OS is MSWin2003 Server.
some ideas ?
regards
ThomasHi Paulo,
very easy. You start the OC4J on the server (unix or windows; for unix there is no icon but a shell script, look it up in the installation manual). If you start it as a background process or as a Windows service you don't need an open user session. In the browser you edit the browser listener URL replacing 127.0.0.1 with the name or the IP address of the server (http://<hostname>:8999/owbb/RABLogin.uix). Unfortunately, you cannot achieve this directly from the OWB console (a configuration parameter to set an alternative hostname would be a nice enhancement) but you can bookmark this in your browser.
Warning: In some (or in all) 64bit releases the OC4J is missing; Oracle Support could not justify this.
Regards

I have a new airport, a mac book and just bought an IPad2. At my home, the Ipad is slower than the laptop. On the laptop the wireless status shows all bars. In the same room, the IPad only shows the bottom two bars, indicating that the signal picked up by the laptop is much stronger than the signal picked up by the IPad, which suggests the Ipad is less able to pick up what is available. Is there any way to reconcile that? Is the Ipad just inferior to the laptop?
On the iPad. Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings.
Restart the iPad.
For Safari try this. Tap Settings / Safari. Clear the History, Cookies, and Cache.

Safari on my Ipad is extremely slow
Safari takes forever to load & often will not load at all, yet when I change to the Dolphin browser on the Ipad, it loads. What is up with Safari?
I have tried that over and over to no avail. I keep getting the message that safari cannot load because it cannot find internet connection yet Dolphin browser on my Ipad finds the connection no problem. I have tried clearing the history & the cache. I have tried closing all open apps. I have tried deleting apps. I have tried signing in on my wifi as guest. None of this works.

Ciscoworks LMS 3.2 - CS job browser extremely slow
Hello,
I have ciscoworks LMS 3.2 on a solaris server with 8 GB of RAM.
Whenever I try to access Job Browser (CS->Server->Admin->Job Browser), the page is just loading forever. All other links like Backup, Log Rotation, Selftest etc load pretty quickly.
But opening the Job Browser seems next to impossible. All the processes are up and running, so I am not sure what the root cause might be.
Please help me if anyone has a solution to this issue.
Thanks,
SivaHi Sivarama,
I had a similar issue when LMS had many jobs ? Did you try to purge them (<30 days, for example) ?
Hope it helps,

I checked & did the following below, but I couldn't solve this issue. Please HELP !
- My WIFI internet speed of home network is Great, no problem about that
- I've already used a "Speed Test app" from iPad and it is great, no problem in the speed also
- I've checked the space and more than 30 GB is empty in the device
- I've completely disabled Genius Apps feature
- I tried many times hard reset by long pressing power and home buttons together

Wifi on ipad 2 is extreme slow
Hi,
I have 4G network available and i am using AT&T Mobile Hotspot as a wireless router, Everything is perfect such as my laptop, Android phone, but when it comes to IPAD, it is extremely slow. Even to open google it takes about 1-2 minutes, i cant download any application.
Last week i click update all applications (26 applications) i couldnt able to download even a single one and now i cant use old versions of these applications as well, because if i click it says waiting.. I dont know, this is the first time i am stuck with ios.
Please help.If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

Ipad Air is extremely slow on wifi. Ipad 1 worked fine.
My Ipad Air wifi is extremely slow. I have seen online this is an issue. I have read responses but still confused. Ipad 1 worked fine.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.
