IPad Built-in Video App

I recently downloaded a bunch of cartoons for my son to watch on our roads trip.  Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to setup continuous playback or repeat.  So, needless to say, we had to stop ever hour or so to play another video one by one.  Anyone know how to do this?

As far as I know, the functionality does not exist in iOS 5. I have no clue if you will be able to do this in iOS 6, but we will know after Wednesday when iOS is released.
There are currently apps for this and here is one.

  • IPad to AppleTV sound only - built in Video App

I used to be able to airplay from my ipad to my appletv but now only sound plays, no video. I have made sure my iPad and AppleTV (latest version) are all running up to date software.
I am trying to play via the built in Video app on the iPad , not a third party app.
    This used to work.
How can I get it working again.  I've also tried restarting the Apple TV and the iPad multiple times - didn't help

My router is an Airport Extreme. It's a Walking Dead Episode I bought on iTunes.
I worked at Apple in Core OS doing Mac OS X kernel development for 21 years so I know something about Apple products.  This is some kind of bug and not ''user error''
I can occasionally get it to play a video by constantly trying over and over again and also restarting my ipad and appletv - there is no rhyme or reason as to when it will actually play and episode. And then the next time I try it will just do the sound again.
This did not used to happen - probably 2-3 months ago it would play 100% of the time
    Really annoying.

  • Last op system update on mine/my wife's iPad causes all video apps (Netflix/Hulu/CBS/History,etc) to NOT flow uninterrupted; constant breaks

Last op system update on mine/my wife's iPad causes all video apps (Netflix/Hulu/CBS/History,etc) to NOT flow uninterrupted; constant breaks.  Type problem into Safari and many folks having same problems wig Hulu and other video/TV apps crashing repeatedly!  It's EXTREMELY irritating and aggravating!   The apps didn't crash like that until AFTER the latest operating system update for iPads was pushed/downloaded.

Among the alternatives not mentioned... Using a TiVo DVR, rather than the X1; a Roamio Plus or Pro would solve both the concern over the quality of the DVR, as well as providing the MoCA bridge capability the poster so desperately wanted the X1 DVR to provide. (Although the TiVo's support only MoCA 1.1.) Just get a third-party MoCA adapter for the distant location. Why the hang-up on having a device provided by Comcast? This seems especially ironic given the opinions expressed regarding payments over time to Comcast. If a MoCA 2.0 bridge was the requirement, they don't exist outside providers. So couldn't the poster have simply requested a replacement XB3 from the local office and configured it down to only providing MoCA bridging -- and perhaps as a wireless access point? Comcast would bill him the monthly rate for the extra device, but such is the state of MoCA 2.0. Much of the OP sounds like frustration over devices providing capabilities the poster *thinks* they should have.

  • IPad Music and Videos apps - Home Sharing is empty

    Anyone else seeing this?
Cannot see anything in Videos app - Shared (No Videos You can download videos from iTunes).
Music app - More Shared - My iTunes library, Music app is blank (no music) except for top and bottom
Yes, Home Sharing is enabled on the iPad and the Mac mini.
    Restarted everything, turned off/on everything.
Worked fine previously under iOS 4.3.5. Maybe with 5.0 (don't recall specifically) and now not with 5.0.1.
It is showing the option to slect teh Shared library but no content is being passed to the iPad.

This is only viewing shared music/videos from iTunes through the Music/Video apps, not copying items to the iPad.
    David Smith_Netwanderer wrote:
I am getting this too - minus I have my music and it is just Videos which are not showing up.  They show-up in iTunes on the iPad but not when I actually open the Videos.app.  The space available also indicates that the videos are on the iPad but just are not showing up.
With Home Sharing, they should not take up any space on the iPad since they are streamed from iTunes on the computer. They are not on the iPad.
I also tried searching for the videos in spotlight and they don't show up there either.
Since they are not on the iPad, they won't (and should not) show up on the iPad.
I have a hunch that it is something to do with the 'matching' process and since it does not process the videos (as it shouldn't) it assumes there aren't any videos and stops showing them.
I don't have iTunes Match so it has nothing to do with this.

  • I have rentals that will not go away on my ipad in the videos app, and different ones on my computer "on this ipad" list

This is on my ipad, they are both expired
and this is on my computer... i rented this last year.

When the app is downloaded it will expand as all app downloads do. You are downloading a "compressed installer" in a manner of speaking. When the app expands it will be larger than the space that you have left on the device.
App downloads on a computer work the same way,

  • IPad mini video app stops responding when playing videos from shared iTunes library

  • No "TV shows" tab in iPad videos app

this was in a thread a while ago, but i never got a definitive answer.  i have a handful of video files that are tagged as "TV show" in iTunes on my mac.  to be clear, they are in the TV Shows category in the iTunes library, NOT movies.  i have itunes set to automatically sync unwatched episodes of TV shown onto my iPad, which it does succesfully - sort of.  of course, to watch these on my iPad i should use the built-in Videos app. the problem is, videos will not show the tv shows that i have synced.  and it's even worse than that – there's not even a "TV Shows" tab at the top of the screen when i launch the videos app.  it's just plain not there:  the tabs are Movies and Shared, and that's it.
before you ask if i actually synced the tv shows, they are most definitely on my iPad, and in fact i CAN watch them, but to do so i have to do a search for the title of the show.  when the title pops up in search results, i select it and the video plays just fine.  so its not the end of the world, but it's annoying.  i want to be able to browse the shows i have on there rather than search for them, and i can't.  please help.
    thanks.

i think i have the answer
first the TV shows should be seen as tv shows in your itunes library on mac/pc
to do this you have to edit the properties of the file by right clicking on the file and choosing "more info".
choose the "option" tab under the more info window. now select the media kind as "TV Show" .
    thats all

  • How do I get my iPad Videos app to work?

I have the iPad 2. I'm having trouble getting the Videos app that came with the iPad to work. I have several videos on there and when I click on it, it just opens to a black screen. If I swipe from left to right and type in one of the movies on the videos app, it flickers, but won't play. I saw with someone else who had this problem they were told to hit the home button twice, then click on the "minus" sign on the icons of the apps that were open. Well, the iPad 2 doesn't have that. When you hit the button twice, it pulls up all the apps you own/are open at the bottom of the screen to scroll through easily, but none of them have the minus symbol to close them. As far as I know, there is no way to "close" apps on the iPad 2. Any help? If I could delete and reinstall it, that'd be great, but it comes with the iPad so I can't do that.
    Thanks

What am am I doing wrong then? Because I've done **exactly** those things and the minus sign never appears. Do I have something set up wrong in my settings. If I press and hold one of the apps, they shake and an "x" appears on most of them *except* the apps that came with the iPad (including the "Videos" app). I've also done the tapping the home screen button thing. The icons appear at the bottom of the screen like they're supposed to, and when I press and hold one of the apps, they all start to wiggle, *however* no minus signs appear. Please understand that, "x"s appear on the apps that I have installed, **nothing** appears on the apps that came automatically on the iPad, and no minuses/minus symbols appear on the apps at all. **That** is why I'm having trouble. I can't close and reopen it to see if that will fix it. Is there a setting (under "settings") that I can change so that I *can* open and close the apps (so that a minus sign does appear on the apps)?

  • Videos App on IPad

I was watching a video and for some unknown reason the screen froze.  I close the app and opened it to a black screen.  I have restarted the iPad and the videos app and continue to get a black screen only.  What can I do?

Try searching for the name of one of your videos on the iPad's spotlight search screen - swipe your first homescreen to the right, type in it's name, and if it finds it tap on it to see if it plays.
If that doesn't work then try closing the Videos app completely again : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option if the two above don't work is another soft-reset.

  • Can you copy a video on iPad 2 from Videos to Photo Album?

I need to add videos to a Keynote presentation I am making but the videos I need are saved on my iPad in the Videos App not the Camera Photo Album. And Keynote's insert media doesn't recognize the Video app as a source for media.
Is there a way to copy/move/export from Videos to Photo Album?

Can I use iMovie to save the video from my Videos Album to my Camera Roll?  That seems like it would be the easiest way, but I don't want to spend the $5 for an app that won't do what I want it to do.

  • Video app - option to watch in actual size?

    Hi all,
I've just converted some favourite FLV to watch on my ipad but the video app is playing them fullscreen and i can't fond any options to play actual size... any ideas anyone?
Failing that, can anyone recomm an app that does let you watch at actual size.
    Thanks.

The app store size is probably just the software, while the size on your iPhone includes data.
You can determine the size on your iPhone by looking at Settings > General > Usage.

  • My build in videos app on my ipod touch has somehow been hidden or removed is there a way to get it back without having to restore my whole ipod?

A third option if the two above don't work is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

There is a few events where I could see this happening...
It's possible if you computer is not authorized with your iTunes Store account it may not have transfered your purchases from the iPad to the computer. To check, Open iTunes> Select the "Store" menu along top of the program and select Authorize this computer. Sign in with your AppleID and password, this will make sure your computer is authorized for the future so you can transfer purchases from your device.

However, if your Movies are missing now you'll need to request to redownload or "regrant" them. Please send an email ticket into iTunes Store via...
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/
Select "Video Purchases" in the grey boxes, then "Lost or Missing Items", then click the link to "Email Us" on the right. Fill out that form and the folks at the iTunes Store should get back to you less than 24 hours.

  • I keep repurchasing a tv show but it is not showing up on my video app on my ipad

I keep trying to download a tv show and it says I have purchased it but its not on my videos app. So I go back on to iTunes and keep downloading it, over and over again. It still won't work!! :( I don't know what else to do! I have already payed for it and it will be a waste of money!! Please please help! It will be much appreciated!

I think I may have confused you and I apologize. But you are also confusing me now.
If you were not using restrictions before, then that is why the Allowed Content for Movies in in accessible. You can only access that if you had set a restrictions Passcode. If you do not have restrictions set, then it is a non issue and don't worry about that suggestion.
Were you actively using restrictions on the iPad? If you weren't then you don't have to enable it now. That will not do any good.
