Ipad can't connect to itunes

I have narrowed it down to a setting on the ipad.  Erasing the ipad restores my ability to sync to itunes.  Restoring my icloud backup breaks my ability to sync to itunes.
Now I don't know what to do.  How can I restore my ability to sync with itunes without erasing my ipad and losing all my app saved data.

My plan worked, at first.  Didn't appear under itunes devices, but did appear under my computer.  Which was good enough to run a 3rd party file browser and get my app data.  By the second day, stopped appearing in my computer.  Time for another wipe.
Steps I've done so far
-connecting ipad to pc, doesn't appear in itunes or my computer
-wiped ipad
-setup as new ipad
-connecting ipad to pc, appears in itunes and my computer
-wiped ipad
-restored icloud backup
-connecting ipad to pc, doesn't appear in itunes or my computer
-allowed 24 hours for the backup restore to finish
-connecting ipad to pc, doesn't appear in itunes or my computer
-app data restored
-wiped ipad
-setup as new ipad
-connecting ipad to pc, appears in itunes
-upgrade software from 6.0 to 6.0.1
-connecting ipad to pc, appears in itunes
-wiped ipad
-restored icloud backup, allowed 24 hours to restore app data
-connecting ipad to pc, doesn't appear in itunes
-checked my computer, does appear there
-used a 3rd party tool to backup some of my app data
-48 hours later, no longer appears in my computer (power cycling has no effect)
Time for another wipe and restore I think

    have you tried quiting the app, ie removing it from the multitasking bar also, and then retrying it? Failing that, flick the ipad into airplane mode for a minute, then flick it back, wait for your wifi to connect then try again.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This works for some users. Not sure why.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

    For the past week, I have not been able to update any apps.  I have changed my password, I have made sure my connection is good still nothing.  Why can't I connect with iTunes?

    I forgot to mention I have gone through the troubleshooting recommended and there is no issue from my stand point for my iPad 2.  That is why I am wondering if iTunes are experiencing server issues.

    Hi. Since i've updated my ipad 3 to 7.0.2 i can't seem to download and update apps. I've tried signing in but it won't let me. :( Is there a way to fix this? I don't want to restore to factory default since it will wipe out some in-game purchases.
    I already power started my ipad several times,, and sometimes when i power start, the sound changes, its so annoyingly loud!  Like the click sound is squeaking. Its like broken blown speaker. But it goes away when i restart.
    I don't think it's my internet connection, because i can surf smoothly with other devices. Please help me with this. :(

    Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    You will have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.
    Then restart the iPad.
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, then swipe the slider to power off.
    Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Then try logging in to the iTunes Store.
    If that didn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    (no data is lost due to a reset)
    Then try again.

    Hello!
    I have a problem with my brand new Ipad. I'm simply unable to activate with Itunes as is required. The ipad shows the USB cable pointing to itunes icon. For 5-6 seconds and then the ipad shuts down. I've tried resetting it several times, and i'm able to make the "slider" screen appear (and use the slider).
    I use Windows 7, USB 2.0, Itunes 9.1.1.12
    I went to a Mac store to let them help me but even a Mac computer couldn't solve the trouble.
    I'm really afraid that the Ipad itself is "dead", especially because I live in a country (Denmark) where we have no Apple Stores and the Ipad still needs to be introduced officially.

    Hi,
    I had this problem with my MacBook Pro, and the solution is to re-install iTunes.
    Open "Activity Monitor" which you'll find in Applications/Utilities then locate " iTunes Helper" and choose "quit" from the menu.
    Open System Preferences/Accounts and select "Login Items" - select "iTunes Helper" then delete it by hitting the minus button.
    Drag the iTunes Application to the trash - empty the trash, then restart your computer.
    Download a fresh copy of iTunes from Apple.com, and install.
    This worked for me, and I hope it works for you.

    We've all been there before. Fortunately, there are some steps we can take to troubleshoot. First off, let's verify that you can connect to the internet from your iPad in the first place:
    Open Safari and type www.apple.com. Does the website load? If not, go to Settings>Wi-Fi and select your preferred network. If you prefer to use 3G or 4G data, make sure you've connected that instead. Try bringing up Safari again and verifying the website loads. If not, you'll need to contact AppleCare Support for further troubleshooting.
    If you're able to connect to the Internet, but are unable to connect to the iTunes Store, make sure you can do the same from another device on the network (i.e. Computer, iPhone, iPod Touch, etc.) If no other device can access the iTunes Store, it could be a port setting or firewall issue with your network. However, if it's isolated to your iPad alone, the App might need reset. Try this:
    1. Log out of your account by going to Settings>Store
    2. Quit the iTunes Multitasking Session by rapidly double-pressing the Home button, holding your finger down on the iTunes icon until it giggles, then selecting the red minus sign. Press the Home button again to return to the home screen.
    3. Go back into the Store (Settings>Store) and sign back into your Account.
    4. Bring up iTunes and attempt your purchase again.
    If none of these steps help, I would contact AppleCare directly as it could be a software defect that iTunes support could cure. Calling AppleCare first would allow them to determine if there aren't any hardware defects, prior to forwarding your case to iTunes support. -They are very fast in resolving any issues and I've had nothing but good experiences with them in the past.

    Back up all data.
    Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:
              8.8.8.8
              8.8.4.4
    That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
    In Safari, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. Any difference?
    Notes:
    1. If you lose Internet access after making the above change to your network settings, delete the Google servers in the  Network preference pane, then select the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP Lease. That should restore the original DNS settings; otherwise restore them yourself. Remember that you must click Apply in order for any changes to take effect.
    2. I don't use Google DNS myself, though I have tested it, and I'm not recommending it or any other DNS provider; the server addresses are offered merely for testing purposes. There may be privacy and technical issues involved in using that service, which you should investigate personally before you decide whether to keep the settings. Other public DNS services exist.

    i just bought my ipad2 (used and just received it. i didn't have time to sync it with any other computer), and i put a password on  it, but 5 min later i couldn't remember it. i tried several  passwords but they were wrong. now the ipad is locked. so i read online  that i need to connect it to a computer to reset it. so i tried to  connect it, but now it says that itune cannot connect to the ipad  because it is locked with a code, and that i need to put the code before  the ipad can be used with itune.
    so anybody have any suggestion on how i can reset or unlock it?
    also, i also just bought a apps (navigon for 40$), will i lose this app if i restore it without back up?
    (i know that a lot of people already asked this kind of question, but i couldn't find answer where the ipad was locked and at the same time couldn't connect to itune).
