IPad can't connect to server.  It states server stopped responding.

My ipad 2 is stating that it cannot connect to the server.  What should I do?  Laptop and PC will connect to server.

Try Settings, select the network name, click on the blue arrow to Forget This Network and try signing in again.

That could be exactly what happened. The server could be having a problem or the path to the server is down.

  • Can't access the internet or retrieve mail, get a message saying unable to connect to server stopped responding. Wifi is  working fine on iPhone

I have tried deleting some apps to free up memory space, I have to constantly switch the iPad off and on in order to be able to pick up the internet. Any suggestions as to how to fix this permanently would be gratefully received

It's not a daft question to me. I'm not sure either so this is what I do when I want to know something.
How do you update a router firmware.
You can also go to the router manufacturer's website for more information.

  • Safari can't open page - server stopped responding

I'm running Safari 1.3.2 on OSx 10.3.9, G4 Mac, 1 GB Ram, Cable modem & router. All was fine until several days ago and started receiving this message when going to a secured page (I'm assuming this is where the web address begins with https) such as banking or paying bills online. I have done the following... shutdown-restart on Mac/cablemodem/router, deleted the plist, removed all cookies, reset Safari, checked login items in system prefs, checked all ethernet and cable modem settings. I've had no installations or upgrades. I've reviewed other similar discussions and followed recommendations to others. The problem persists. Then to make the problem worse, once this message comes up, Safari really slows down in loading any page (even pages like www.apple.com). As a backup, I'm running Explorer in classic mode...no problem opening secure pages and it's faster. Any suggestions on how to resolve Safari problems.

    Eme,
I've done the disk repair (a maintenance I do every week anyway). I've checked all of the network settings you referred to (I did that previously also)...all are correct. I am 'Using DCHP' and do not have any info in the 'DSN Servers' box. I have not tried setting up another user/account for testing.
However...I think I may have come up with a resolution when Explorer 5.2 (OSx) started exhibiting identical problems and Explorer 5.1.6 (OS 9.2.2) began slowing down noticeably. This lead me to believe the problem is communicating with the ISP. Before calling them, I did the following in this order...1-powered down my network (CPU/Router/Cable Modem) and unplugged all cables including power cords. 2-plugged in the cables to the cable modem and powered it up. 3-Once the cable modem was ready, I plugged in the cables to the router and plugged in the power cord. 4-When it was ready, I plugged in the cable to the Mac's ethernet port and powered it up. Safari is now back to it's snappy, responsive self and no more sluggish or stopped responding messages. All https windows are opening as before.
Note: I am not going to post this as resolved yet. My wife's Toshiba laptop is not on the network yet (using wireless communication to the Linksys router). I doubt if this is a factor, but once this is done, then I'll know for sure after a couple days if resolved (her laptop with Explorer did not experience any network problems before and while the problems were going on with Safari).

    Hello SavannahSweetie,
I was looking into the issue you are desribing, and found a great article for troubleshooting wifi connections with iOS devices. It's called iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections and can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398.
Start with this section, and work your way down if needed.
    Basic troubleshooting
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and then on again.
Verify that you are in range of your Wi-Fi router or base station.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and Cable/DSL modem are connected to power and turned on.
Check whether other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware. For AirPort Base Stations, refer to this article for information about firmware updates. For third-party Wi-Fi routers, check the manufacturer's website for details on updating your firmware.
Restart your iOS deviceHold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • My safari won't connect to the Internet as it says server stopped responding

Hi, everytime I try to go on Internet through safari, it won't open the page, the error message is, safari cannot connect as server stopped responding. My ipad has been updated from io6 to io6.1. Internet connects fine through google chrome app.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

itunes does not recognise CD's uploaded
can't connect to server it states
although PC is connected to the internet itunes can't find the connection
    have an ipod nano
this is complicating things as I can't change what's on the ipod either

Try a hard reset by pressing the Home button and Wake / Sleep button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen.
This does not lose any data on your iPad.

  • TS3274 MY IPAD STATES 'SAFARI CUOLD NOT OPEN THE PAGE BECAUSE THE SERVER STOPPED RESPONDING". HOW CAN I CORRECT THIS?

MY IPAD STATES " SAFARI COULD NPT OPEN THE PAGE BECAUSE SERVER STOPPED RESPONDING" HOW CAN I CORRECT THIS?

Sometimes there's a hiccup in the router and resetting the router like diavonex staes will solve the problem.
Sometimes though, the website you are trying to visit has an internal problem with its server. In that case you can only wait until they fox it.
If other websites load properly and only one is having a problem then most likely the problem lies in the web server of the site you are trying to visit.

  • I updated my software in my iPad, can't connect to App Store or iTunes, It says that I have to change to US account, right now I'm in Mexico, how can I change it to mu US account.

I updated my software in my iPad, can't connect to App Store or iTunes, It says that I have to change to US account, right now I'm in Mexico, how can I change it to my US account

    Back up all data.
Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:
              8.8.8.8
              8.8.4.4
That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
    In Safari, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. Any difference?
    Notes:
    1. If you lose Internet access after making the above change to your network settings, delete the Google servers in the  Network preference pane, then select the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP Lease. That should restore the original DNS settings; otherwise restore them yourself. Remember that you must click Apply in order for any changes to take effect.
    2. I don't use Google DNS myself, though I have tested it, and I'm not recommending it or any other DNS provider; the server addresses are offered merely for testing purposes. There may be privacy and technical issues involved in using that service, which you should investigate personally before you decide whether to keep the settings. Other public DNS services exist.

  • I can't update my ipod. When I check for updates it says "can't connect to server"(despite internet connection being fine). Also, when I try and update software it starts then stops after 2 seconds

I can't update my Ipod. When I check for updates it says "can't connect to server" despite internet connection being fine. When I receive a software update message;I say install and it starts updating then stops after 2 seconds. Help! (It is a 3rd gen IPod touch(I think)). Presumably as a result of this, I have tried to put my library onto my gf's new iPod touch and it just charges it..doesn't download my library onto the touch).

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

Who is your eMail provider, the part after the @ sign?
In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?
Then click the Show Details button & Check again.
