Ipad can't get maximum of 802.11n (40 Mhz channel, 300 Mbps)

Hi, Gens!
I have TP-Link 1043 with OpenWRT. My WiFi is 802.11n with 20 MHz width at 2,4 GHz and 40Mhz width at 5,2 MHz.
Encryption is WPA2 with AES
My laptop connects at follwoing RX/TX rates:
180.0 Mbit/s, MCS 12, 40MHz
270.0 Mbit/s, MCS 14, 40MHz
We can see everything goes fine and 40 MHz wide frequency rage is consumpted
At the same time, Ipad connect only at
24.0 Mbit/s, MCS 0, 20MHz
104.0 Mbit/s, MCS 13, 20MHz
And Iphone 5 - even worse - at
24.0 Mbit/s, MCS 0, 20MHz
52.0 Mbit/s, MCS 5, 20MHz
I looked a lot of discussions but I can not figure out what to do, to make my Iphone work fgaster than 65Mbits and Ipads - faster than 130Mbits... It is a maximum in my conditions and I dunno what to fix...

Hi deemona,
Everything appears to be normal on your wireless network. It all comes down to what WiFi standards each device supports.  On 2.4GHz the iPhone 5 only supports a max of 72Mpbs (20MHz, 1 stream).  The new iPad (mini/Air) supports a max of 150Mbps (20Mhz, 2 streams).
On 5GHz things change slightly where both the iPhone 5 and new iPads support 40Mhz channel bonding allowing each to support higher speeds, the iPhone 5 150Mbps and new iPads 300Mbps.
Hope this helps!
Brice

iPad can't get past step 8 when syncing. I have to unplug before the end. Is this normal? What do I do to solve the issue? Thanks. JD

It is syncing through everything and then failing to close out. If I disconnect then the libraries are all there although I have lost a movie and a few tracks downloaded as a result of this.

I deleted my ibooks author file but the preview is still available on my ipad, can I get the ibook back into ibooks author to continue to edit? I have not published anything, just previewed on my ipad but the file seems to be deleted from my imac which is what I was using ibooks author on. Any help is welcome!

It's not a 'process' at all.
If it was easy/straightforward, people would be turning store versions into iBA versions left/right and all **** would break loose. It's not and that's a good thing, sorry
Work up from whatever version you have.
Any work you value should be backed up....period. That backup should be used and tested regularly. Consider this a lesson learned, perhaps. Good luck in the future.

    Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo.

    Muneer-
What App are you using to get the audio stream?  Safari should work unless Flash is involved.
I have used the free NPR App to listen to radio stations, but I don't know if it works with TV stations.

  • Can anyone recommend a good 802.11n card/usb adaptor for a Windows PC?

I'm about to buy a new iMac and an Airport Extreme Base Station, and I would like my wife's Windows XP PC to be able to take advantage of 802.11n, as the base station will be in the living room and our office room (where the new iMac and the PC live) gets a terrible reception with 802.11g (thick interior walls being the main problem).
I've had a look online at various USB/PCI products, but can any of you recommend one that works particularly well with the Airport Extreme?
Perhaps the Airport Express would be the best solution, as my wife's PC has an ethernet card, plus we also have a USB printer in the office that we'd like to share over the whole house?

I would agree with that, go SATA if you're an island. That's what the majority of my system is set up with.
However, I also have a DSR-11 connected via firewire, and I get firewire drives shipped to me by clients, so I need an additional firewire bus. I bought the cheapest fw400 card I could find, and haven't had any issues yet. I think I spent $35 at CompUSA.
Are there issues that would make me want to buy a better card?

  • IPad can't get out of recovery mode.

I literally have done everything I can think of. TinyUmbrella can't even detect the iPad. It detected my iPhone in like a second though. Dr. Wonderfone and Recboot simply can't work for some reason. When I try to restore using the normal way over itunes it says error 16. I have done pretty much everything I could think of. It's still in recovery mode right now and I can't get it to work. Pretty sure it's 100% broken.... What should I do now?
    Full Story:
It couldn't connect to 3G, and it wanted me to restore it. Bad mistake. At least back then it was usable-ish. But it wanted me to turn off Find my iPad, though I couldn't. So I logged on iCloud and erased the data over Find my iPad. Then I tried activating over itunes, but it wouldn't connect. So I tried it over my wifi, and it didn't work either. Then for some stupid reason I tried putting it into recovery mode.... And that didn't work out either.....

Did you ever find a fix for this?  I have experienced the exact same issue following the same attempted resolution for my verizon iPad2's inability to connect to the 3G network.

  • IPad can't get in the internet via a WPA2 Enterprise setup

I've seen some similar posts and no real answers. My Office just got set up with Wireless, it's cisco gear and using RADUIS to authenticate. What they told us to do on the windows boxes was this:
    Connect to the SSID
    use WPA2 Enterprise Authentication
    TKIP Encryption
    Use PEAP Authentication
    Uncheck the "Validate Server Certificate"
Authentication Method is EAP-MSCHAP v2 on the PEAP properties screen
Following these instructions on Windows 7 I can get on the network.
I tried this on my iPad:
    connected to the network
    selected WPA2 Enterprise
It Prompted my for my login/password
    I entered them....
Then I got a certificate and it asked me to accept/install it, and I did
Then it connects to the access point and gets a signal
Even though I am connected and authenticated I can't get on the internet, and I get no IP address. Not a DHCP issue since other devices work.
Any ideas on alternate configurations, or what I'd need to do with the iPhone Configuration Utility to get this working?

"Unsupported" device - I've heard that before, too many times... =)
So after thinking on everything you've tried, it's safe to say that your AP is running PEAPv0 with EAP-MSCHAPv2 for Authentication. This is good news - as it is probably the most widely used Enterprise WiFi configuration, iOS devices should absolutely be compatible with this. Getting a non-domain XP PC connected was a great idea, as I have discovered that Windows XP is kind of "loose" in the way it handles PEAP certificates - it will accept any certificate given to it by a RADIUS server without question. Undoubtedly a big security hole, but it does have the advantage of being "user friendly." I don't think Apple's implementation is quite as loose, so even though you are manually accepting one certificate, you probably need more to complete the chain of trust required for your device to authenticate the server. This is a requirement for PEAP to function.
So at this point, I think your best bet would be to migrate over to the Credentials tab. If you're running the iPhone Config Utility on a PC which connects to the AP, you already have the certificates in your trusted certificate store - so simply hit the add button and add any relevant certificates. For example, if your domain is named "corporate", import any certificates bearing that domain. Once you've done this, head over to the Trust tab under WiFi and check off your newly imported certificates as being trusted for your connection.
In addition, if you can figure out what the name of the RADIUS server on the other end of the AP is doing the authentication, add it under "Trusted Certificate Names" - if you don't know it, you can also add a wildcard like "*.corporate" to trust any servers in your domain. This shotgun approach is probably your best bet for making it go initially.
You will know this is all working when you no longer get the dialog on your iPad to accept the certificate, and hopefully, you get an IP address.
We're truly in the thick of it now, and this is my last idea - so if this does not work, we will need to call on those stronger than I with iOS networking... or, you can call up your IT department and start the conversation off with the words "I bet you can't figure this out" - that always gets IT people going =)
    Best of luck!

  • 2 out 100 iPads can't get IP from DHCP

    Hi,
The school were I worked use 100 iPad 3 for students (they were bought at the same time); Out of 100 iPads being used, 2 is always having problem getting IP from DHCP (connected but did not get IP or some random IP), We used a mixed of Linksys E3000, E4500, and a couple of old Linksys WRT54G routers, we are using hidden SSID and WEP
once in a while (if I try to disconnect/reconnect enough times) it will get IP from DHCP, but after a few days, the problem will appear again
I don't have a say on the use of hidden SSID and the usage of the aging WEP protocol, and the other 98 iPads were not having any problem connecting to those routers
I have tried updating the iPad, reset network settings, reset all settings, and even restoring the 2 iPads, and they were still having problem getting IP from DHCP
Those iPads have no problem connecting to the internet if the IP is made static (well today, one iPad can connect to the internet, but can't browse? is it DNS problem)
Can I claim to Apple Authorized Service Provider? (no Apple Store here), since if they test it I'm pretty sure the iPad will connect to their WiFi (seems like the student have no problem connecting at their WiFi at home, just not at school (which is troublesome))
I read somewehere that certain iPads are not compatible with some routers, is it true
    any suggestions

With the static ip address try:
Google provides free dns lookup.  Their numbers are:
    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4
I'd take the issue up with apple.
Sneak in another router that works with the devices.
    Robert
