IPad, cannot control volume after 8.2 update

After updating my iPad to 8.2 last night, I am now no longer able to control the volume. The volume will randomly go up and down fairly often on its own, and nothing I do seems to prevent this from. I've turn the iPad off and back on numerous time, but to no avail. Any help wold be appreciated.

I understand that you are not able to adjust the volume on your iPad after updating. I have a couple of suggestions for you to try. First, take a look at your sound settings. It is possible that the setting to use the side buttons to change volum were changed during the update, see "Change your sound settings" in the following article and make sure the "Change with Buttons" toggle shows green.

If that doesn't work, I would suggest a reset of the iPad, see this article for how to do it.

While updating my iPad to 7.1.1 through my computer, it crashed and now it says I need to restore, but it won't let me. I cant even touch the iPad, it shows the plug into iTunes icons. itunes is recognizing the device to some extent because when I plug it in, a message comes up explaining that the iPad is in restore mode and needs to be restored before updating. I try to restore, it begins to extract the software, gets to about 99% and another message pops up saying the ipad cannot be updated. The device was not found. iPad continually restarts but never displays the Home screen.
An update or restore did not complete and the iPad is no longer recognized in iTunes.
iPad stops responding, showing the Apple logo with no progress bar or a stopped progress bar, for over ten minutes.
If this occurs, you can place iPad into recovery mode and attempt to restore again. If iTunes displayed an alert with an error code, see this article before attempting the steps outlined here.

Unfortunately it was a blinding flash of the obvious that fixed my issue...
Simply rebooting the iMac brought it back to life.
Duh.
I assumed that since Apple usually forces reboots after updates if they are required that this didn't require one, apparently it did.

How come my mini iPad is not working after trying to update apps?

My mini iPad is repeatedly showing me a black screen with a, "white apple," in the middle & then a couple of minutes later it turns off for a few minutes. Then the black screen with the, "white apple," in the middle comes back on again and then it goes black again. Sometimes the black screen would lighten and the whole pattern of these "screens" would start over again. It's been doing this for hours since I fell asleep.
This happened when I was trying to update 4-5 apps at the same time. It had trouble updating the, "Pinterest app." It failed once and I retried it and that's when my mini ipad started to not work. I can't use it at all. I never had trouble updating several apps at one time before. I was at home using my wifi and my wifi strength was at its maximum for the iPad.
The battery was at 40 something%, so I charged it over night. It has the latest iOS update software. I had downloaded that yesterday.
I plugged it into iTunes on my computer and the same thing is happening. It's picking up my icloud stuff like my music and videos and my computer is trying to import photos from my mini ipad automatically, but my iPad isn't fully recognizable on iTunes. I get 2 error messages. One says, "iTunes was unable to load data class information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later." I also get an error when trying to import photos (just to try it out). The other error message says, "The iPad cannot be sync because this iPad cannot be found."
And so, I unplugged it and plugged it back in and I get the same response. My iTunes is the latest version.
I don't have warranty on this iPad and I spent like $500 on this one. I'm kinda worried...?
Any kind of response would be appreciated....

First, try a system reset although I can't give you any confidence. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Ditto here. Updated to IOS6 and now my SIM isn't being recognised. Did a factory reset, got a new sim but still not recognising it. Phoned apple - cant downgrade. Disappointing as my Ipad2 worked perfectly until the upgrade. Apple can you please sort this out? or is it some hardware in the Ipad2 that has made it incompatible?
If anyone finds a solution please let me know. I'm going to pop into the apple store and see what they have to say. I'm just outside my warranty but I've looked after the ipad2 really well and now it seems to have let me down.

OSX cannot boot-up after installing Security Update 2008-008

Hi Everyone.
I'm using a MacPro 2 x 2.66Ghz Dual Core Intel Xeon with 3GB RAM with Tiger 10.4.11.
After installing Security Update 2008-008, my OSX was not able to boot-up. The screen shows the Apple Logo and the spinning grey gear wheel. It stayed that way for several hours.
I finally switched it off and re-installed OSX 10.4.8 using the Start-up disk that came with my MacPro.
Now I've updated the OSX, all the software & updates EXCEPT Security Update 2008-08. My MacPro works fine now.
Was Security Update 2008-008 the cause of this problem ?

Probably not directly. Very likely something was not quite right on your computer before the update and the update happened to exacerbate that. A number of people feel that optimizing the maintenance of your computer before doing the update and doing the update under controlled conditions minimizes problems.
There's been recent discussions as to what steps are truly necessary in doing a minimal problem update.
I think #1 to which all agree is to make sure you have a backup of your computer in case you do need to back out of it again.
Some like to boot from their installer discs or an external backup and verify (and if necessary repair) their internal drives as well as drive permissions. This is done with Disk Utility.
You can also go to the step of booting into safe mode to do the install.
I like to download the update onto my computer and install it from there rather than let Software Update do it. I know a few people who had problems with doing the update via software updater found a manual install to work.
Repair permissions again afterward.
It also helps to only install one update at a time and to run the computer for a while to make sure it is behaving well.
Almost all of the above steps (except backup) have been questioned as to necessity because probably many people have done successful updates without doing them. I say they can't hurt, they can very likely do good (especially if your computer isn't regularly maintained), so why not do them to be safe.

Why I cannot control anymore winamp volume bar? Got Audigy SE, latest driver .04.0077 (9 Jul 07), windows vista ultimate 32b. Audio works fine, CMSS, EAX, movies in AC3. But what happened to Winamp volume control, you have to use only windows volume bar which is quite inconvenient.
Anyone else encountered similar problem? Thanks for any help.

Cannot control Volume in Kompakt Patches. Anyone?

for the sake of efficiency i want to make a multi from an instance in of kompakt for RA. (NB this is kompakt NOT kontakt)
the manual both in RA and for kompakt is very sketchy as to how to do this.
as i understand it, without the option 'use std cc for volume and pan' i should be able to control volume with cc0.
therefore, i can create single channel instances and convert the cc7 data to cc0 on its way to the channel strip with RA loaded in, and the cc0's via the indiviudally assigned midi channels should operate the volume for each patch.
but no, it does not work. i cannot even get the volume knob for the patch to write automation in latch mode on the track for the kompakt player.
i am completely flummoxed. if i am missing something then its awfully well hidden....
anyone else? or do i just have to load instances for each instrument? what about the stand alone for kompakt. i don't seem to have that. anyone know where i can get it? errr...and yes i have tried the native instruments website but i am getting sick of the dead ends.....

hi mate, no i know about kontakt and it is no problem here.
but according to the kompakt manual, volume information for each individual patch is assigned to cc0 (unless you set the preference for it to be standard cc7).
but it ain't working.
in my scenario, i am using single channel insts created in the environment and then patched to a transformer which turns the cc7 messages generated by the volume slider on the single channle insts to cc0. this should (via the assigned midi channel) change the volume within kompakt.
i have experimented with a single fader. i have tried the option for cc7 standard both on and off. restarted kompakt as instructed and even restarted logic.
nothing.
usually, if you set latch on the channel strip and fiddle with a knob in the plug-in interface it will write automation which you can then discern and do the environment finagling without any problems.
but nothing. no automation is written. if you turn a volume knob for an individual patch it out to generate its own midi messages which you can view with the midi monitor.
nothing.
i really don't understand it. it's clearly something to do with kompakt but i surely can't be the only one.

IPad will not charge after IOS 7 update unless the brightness is dimmed,..Why?

I recently updated my 4th gen IPad 64Gb to ios7. Previous to the update I loved my iPad and it worked flawlessly. Since updating the iPad now will not charge unless I dim the brightness of the screen, and slowly when it does. Why? Is there a way to remedy this?

I do not know if it's iOS7 related or not. My 2 is still working. However, my first 2 was returned to best buy after the charging port on it died. So that can happen. ANd it happens with little to no warning. CHarges monday, doesn't on tuesday.
As far as I know the issues with 'unsigned' lightning devices is just the cable, not the power brick, but there's no official word (nor do I expect one)
Lightning cables have a little chip in them and if that chip isn't signed by Apple then your device kicks up an error but should still work.
However since this is an iPad 2, that's not the case since 2's use 30 pin chargers, not lightning.
Usually when a 2 doesn't charge, common troubleshooting is to swap out the charger, cable and outlet, to confirm or rule those out. Also to do the reset. (the soft reset that's holding down the sleep and home keys until it reboots). Also to look in and blow out the port in case there's some lint or such in there.
Usually those things fixes it. If not, then it could be the port.

IPad 2 constantly rebooting after ios 7 update

My IPad is hosed! After the IOS 7 update, it is constantly rebooting. I've tried to reset to factory settings to do a restore but it won't stay on long enough to get it done. Any one out there have any ideas/suggestions? (besides giving up)

Have you tried to reset iPad?
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

Pavilion g7 cannot install printer after 8.1 update.

After 8.1 update I could not print to my Office jet 6500. Tried re-installing and even with direct connection with USB cable could not install. Bought a Laserjet P1102w. It will not install. I have been through every possible suggested solution on HP and MS support and forum pages, updated drivers, downloaded installation software, etc.... No luck. HP says the model is compatible with 8.1. I'm thinking it is not and I need to reinstall 8.
Any other suggestions?

Sorry that didn't help.
The PNP are the plug and play for USB devices. That could be causing this issue.
Check the Device Manager for any unknown or other devices, especially on the USB hubs under Universal Drivers.
You would have to right click and update it or possibly right click remove and restart the computer, to get them to install properly. Also look for the printer entry, mass storage device and remove it. You can include a screen shot if you like.
Run your Windows Updates if you haven't yet.
Disconnect the USB cable.
Then right click on the downloaded driver and Run as Administrator to try and install the printer again. Don't connect the USB cable until prompted. Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and the USB cable is connected directly to the computer. The USB cable shouldn't be longer then 6 feet. Try another USB cable if the printer isn't being detected or another USB port on the computer.
Let me know which printer we are trying to install right now please.

I cannot back up after restored and updated my iPad

First, my iPad2 ran on ios 4.3.3. Then I backed up it and kept its library and setting
Next, I restored and updated to run on ios 5.1.1.
The system (on iPad) asked me to set up as a new one or back up via icould or itune.
I surely chose the last one because of an old ios.
The picture of usb cable and itune figure then shown, so I plugged in with my PC and launched itune programme.
Wonderingly, it didnt have any buttoms which i could back up (plz see the piture below)
Q : What should I do for backing up it into my iPad?
PS : I have already followed this http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/itunes/#section_7 but it does not help!!!!!!

That is exactly what I would do with this situation. Like I said I have seen this problem before but I know that I was not able to figure out what the problem was.
Make sure that you are running the latest version of iTunes on your PC - and you could also try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes to see if that helps. I just don't know if that will work or if that is the reason that you are seeing this.

Low call volume after IOS 8 update on iPhone 5s

After updating my iPhone 5s to IOS 8 , the volume of incoming calls has dropped quite dramatically,others, here me fine. I have tried turning "off " and doing a "reset" with no luck. Volume is turned all the way up. Anyone else, have this problem or suggestion?
