  • Ipad cant be used - keeps flashing 'enter apple id password' every second

    Hi,
I turned on my iPad 3 today and it is unusable.
Every second it flashes up with the following - Sign in to iCloud.
It wants me to enter an old apple ID that has been disabled.
I cant sign in to make the flashing stop, and I can't do anything else as the flashing is continual every second.
I have tried turning the iPad off, resetting by holding home and off button.
I thought I would reset to factory settings and just lose my data but that isn't working either!
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi SmithyfromBT,
To be sure an old Apple ID does not keep popping up like that, use the steps in this previous thread to remove it -

  • My iPad cannot join a free wireless network, my colleague's iPad can join ok though

I get an error message "unable to join network". This is free wireless network at work for us and visitors, the iPad can detect the wireless connection and even shows its name but when I try to connect to it, the error message says I can't join the network. I tried resetting the network settings, hard rebooting it but no luck.
Wifi settings have not changed at all, I was able to use this wireless connection before but now can't. Some of my colleagues who also have iPads can connect to it right away. Have you ever had a similar problem, if so, have you been able to fix it?. Thanks.

Occasionally it happens to me.  Go to Settings/WiFi and touch the ">" at the right hand side of the network that you're attempting to access.  Then, touch "Forget this network" and try again.

  • Cannot Join a WPA2-Encrypted Network

    Hello all,
I have the iPad Wi-Fi+3G. At work we have 2 wireless networks served by Cisco WAP4410N access points. One is encrypted with 128-bit WEP and the other is WPA2-Personal Mixed. Both are set to 802.11b/g/n, and they have different SSID's.
The iPad cannot connect to the WPA2 network, saying the password is incorrect, even though I have verified that I'm using the correct password. However, the iPad can connect to the WEP network.
I don't know what else about the WPA2 network that could cause this issue. It also happens when iPhones try to connect to it.
In contrast at home, I can connect to my WPA2-Personal network served by an Airport Extreme Dual-Band router.
    Thanks.

I am have the same issue with a different brand router. I can connect via WPA2 Personal via my MacBook Pro (that I'm typing this on), but cannot connect via my new iPad. I get an error saying that the password failed.
    Any solutions, Apple?
First, Apple is not monitoring these forums for bug reports. This is primarily a user-to-user problem solving forum. Report your problem to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html with details. Since probably the majority of iPad users are using WPA2 without problem whatever problem you are having is likely specific to the model of router you have and the level of firmware it is running.
By the way, it's rather optimistic to be replying to a thread which is over 4 months old and has had no responses, even from the original poster who may have long since solved their problem.
If you want any useful advice here you should provide a lot more detail on what equipment you have and how it is configured, what iPad OS level you are running, etc.

    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again, this will refresh the IP address of the iPad.
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    3. Try changing router security e.g. WEP/WPA/WPA2
    4. Have you updated router firmware?

This is something else you can try.
Go to Settings>WiFi>Your Network Name (tap the blue arrow)>Forget this Network. Reboot your iPad, hold down on the sleep button at the top for a couple of seconds until the red slider appears, slide to shut down. Then press the sleep button again until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button and the iPad will restart. Try to join your network again.

Badunit you said "Continue setting up without the network. You can skip past it, right?"
It sounds like he is setting up the iPod via wif. You can't continue. What yo can do is reset the iPod
    - Reset the iOS device.
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then start the setup over again but this time connect the iPod to a computer and set up via iTunes. Then he can troubleshoot the connection proboem.

im trying to connect my ipad to my connection at home and its taking the password but still wont connect and doesnt tell me why?? .i even tried to reset network settings

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, my guess is that it's a router issue.  You'll need to get administrative access to the router and determine if it has a firewall.  If one is present, turn it off and test the iPad.  If that solves the problem, don't leave it that way.  Turn the firewall back on but weaken it a notch and test again.  Repeat as required.
For what it's worth, a router firewall can stop iPad communication without affecting computer communication.  I do not understand why the difference.
    Edit...
I just saw the post from Diavonex.  An off/on is certainly worth a shot.  Leave it off for ten seconds.

Since upgrading to ios6, all the family's apple devices (new ipad, 2 iphone4 & itouch) are having difficulty reconnecting to the home hub wifi network. I.e, every time the lock screen comes on, the wifi connection is lost when you reopen the device and we have to reconnect through settings. This appears to be an ios6 software issue.
Is there a solution to this wifi connection issue or do we wait for a software fix?
I'd hate to think Apple is going down the Microsoft path, of passing untested software onto the user. What ever happened to Regression Testing, to ensure the existing functionality remains intact?
I bought into the Apple dream, because it was intuitive, reliable & enjoyable to use, all the things that Microsoft windows isn't.
Other issues we are experiencing are, Games are stuttering and the kids really miss the old YouTube app.
Please Mr Browett, sort these issues out.

  • IPad 4 asks for User Name and Password to access home wi-fi network

I have the iPad 4, which occasionally fails to connect to my home network and will ask me for both an User Name and Password to access my home wireless network. I have no idea what would constitute an User Name and I have tried the name of the network and other options to no avail. When I close down the iPad and take it closer to my Wi-Fi Router (BT Home Hub 3) then switch back on it asks for the password only as normal and all is well. What concerns me is this only happens on the occasional basis, but I am trying to access the router from exactly the same place.
Is there a fault with the wireless function on the iPad? I have contacted Apple Support by telephone and they were very helpful to be fair, but they had not come across this issue before.
Has anyone experienced anything like this and could advise me? My other option would be to email Apple Support, but I cannot find an email address for Apple Technical Support UK.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button
